Add flour. Stir constantly until dark brown, being careful not to burn. Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and parsley. Stir until wilted. Add water, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Simmer for about 30 minutes. Add chicken and sausage. Simmer 35 more minutes. Add additional salt and pepper if needed. While hot, make holes in cake with handle of wooden spoon. Pour pina colada mix over cake and allow to absorb in cake. Pour condensed milk, allow to absorb in cake. Let cake cool completely. Spread cool whip on top of cake. Sprinkle with coconut. Decorate with pineapple rings and cherries. Add onion and shrimp and cook until shrimp are pink. Finally add Ro-Tel tomatoes, tomato sauce, whole kernel corn, cream style corn, potatoes and water. Cook on medium to high fire until water consistency has thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add onion. In large sauce pan, combine flour, butter, soup, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 1 minute. Stir in spinach. Pour into greased casserole dish and top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool Completely.<br /><br />Layer 2- Blend cream cheese, sugar, and 1 tsp. vanilla. Add 1 cup of cool whip and mix in well. Spread over first layer.<br /><br />Layer 3- Prepare pudding as instructed on box. Add 1 tsp. vanilla. Pour over second layer. Cool. Spread remainng cool whip over top. Chill. I do want to share an easy recipe that I think your ones would enjoy:<br /><br />Dirty Rice (A Holiday Must in Louisiana):<br /><br />1 lb. ground beef<br />1 lb. ground pork<br />1 bell pepper, chopped<br />1 onion, chopped<br />1/4 cup cooking oil<br />1/4 cup parsley, chopped<br />1 can cream of chicken soup<br />1 can cream of mushroom soup<br />1 small can of mushrooms (optional)<br />2 cups raw rice<br />Salt and pepper to taste<br /><br />Brown meat. Saute onion and bell pepper in oil. Add other ingredients. Mix well and place in covered casserole (or foil pan) Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Serves 8.
