I have a lot of thoughts in my head today.
Not all of them good.
So.
Starting the day looking at Rob...
WALKING
on the set of Bel Ami
Has to count for something.
Yeah, I know...
I'm kinda weird and obsessed with watching
Robert move...
But I seriously can't help myself.
And I really can't even explain how it makes me feel.
*sigh*
So by now...
I'm sure all of you have seen the
clips from "Remember Me"
I hesitate to state my true opinion.
Why?
Because it's not all positive.
And when you are not all smiley and cheery
when it comes to Robert...
You get accused of attacking him...
or not being a 'true' fan.
But I look at it like this...
1. I love and adore Robert Pattinson.
I will go see any movie he is in.
I will buy any DVD of his movies.
(yeah, I have Haunted Airman, How To Be,
Little Ashes, and Bad Mothers Handbook
Goblet of Fire, and 3 copies of Twilight)
2. A TRUE fan will be honest...
and realize that even Robert isn't perfect.
Close..yes...
But flawed in his perfection.
And admit it
That is part of the reason we all love him.
3. There will be some people out there...
People who don't agree with my
Point of View
That will criticize and attack my opinion.
And that's OK.
*deep breath*
I wasn't blown away with the
Remember Me clips.
And for fucks sake...
it has NOTHING to do with Emilie not being Kristen.
And I'm not one of those lunatics out there
that refuse to go see this movie
because Rob is 'disrespecting' Kristen.
I don't have a problem seeing Robert
being intimate with another woman.
I want Remember Me and every
movie Rob is in...
TO DO WELL.
I have read endless tweets
and emails
and blog posts...
talking about the HOT chemistry between
Robert and Emilie.
That we have been blessed to see
REAL chemistry between co-stars.
Come closer...
Closer...
*clears throat*
I DON'T SEE IT.
Yes. Robert was gorgeous.
Yes. It's only a short clip
so I'm hoping the actual movie
will show me more.
Yes. Both Rob and Emilie's 'accents'
were weak.
Yes. Rob looked...
Awkward to me.
Maybe that's how he is supposed to look?
But his voice is so damn quiet...
It's almost hard to understand what he was saying.
The acting seemed...
Unnatural.
Strained.
I don't know.
I just want this movie to do well.
I want Robert to do well.
I want to be positive
But I can't lie about how I feel.
I thought the original trailer was good...
And I do have high hopes that
seeing the movie in its entirety will make a difference.
See.
I'm doing it.
I'm making excuses.
All because I love Robert.
And I know that the haters out there
believe that the chemistry
(and I'm starting to hate that fucking word)
between Emilie and Robert is off the charts.
And I say...
From the first time I saw the pictures from
the set last summer...
I thought the interaction between
Robert and Emilie was
stiff and clumsy...
Seeing these clips hasn't changed my mind.
So throw tomatoes at me
if you must.
And believe me...
I hope my impressions of this movie
are completely wrong.
I will gladly admit defeat.
I still have hopes that it will be good.
I love you, Robert Pattinson.
In all your flawed perfection.
Bye for now.

Very Good Post Rose, i agree 100 % with you, I love his flawed perfection and i want Remember ME to do well too.
But Emilie wasn't the Allie I wanted i don't know i think that a lot of actresses were better suited for the part.
well, thank you very much, that is exactly what i was thinking too, i just don't have blog to write about it. :-)
Rose I love you for your honesty and I have kept quiet on my opinion for fear of backlash. I agree with you and as you will hold my hands up if wrong. Love Rob and hoping his golden touch to everything he touches works for him in Remember Me. For a film to succeed you need more than "He is hot and gorgeous" Saying that 911 is tricky ground and with new photographs of the utter devastation released worldwide its wrong timing. Now Bel Ami breaks all barriers.
your damn right!!!!!!!! I saw the cleap, even thought Rob is super sexy I find the whole scene kind of awkard, it did not move me at all.
i agree with you, there is something off about their chemistry or posture i dunno what it is and it has nothing to do with Kristen. The acting and accents were akward, weak and stiff ....
You've gotten it completely darling. I saw exactly the same thing. He was really quiet and stiff and it looked forced to me. And that's got nothing to do with Emilie or Kristen for me. Some people are so against R/K that they are seeing what THEY want to see and not what's really there. I hope the film as a whole is a little warmer and natural than the clips we've seen b/c like you I WANT rob to be a sucess and not just tied forever to Twilight.
I don't see the chemistry either but remember Ally/Emilie is only part of the story. Don't forget about Aiden, His dad, and most of all that adorable little sister . In fact i saw more brother sister chemistry with her and Rob then I did Rob/Emilie all summer. I wish they had released a variety if clips with other characters as well but i think they want to play up the romance aspect to get people in the seats. I still have faith.
" I thought the interaction between
Robert and Emilie was
stiff and clumsy...
Seeing these clips hasn't changed my mind " --- Agreed.
WORD!!
"I want Remember Me and every
movie Rob is in...
TO DO WELL."
Rose,
I do appreciate your opinion. I am one who does see "chemistry" and what that means to me is.. I think they both play the characters well, and I think there is a connection between them, they feel comfortable with one another, and when you are hopping in a shower with somebody, you dang well better feel comfortable. I don't see any ackwardness in them but more I feel it is part of his character.. I don't want to post any spoilers... but I think.. if the movie follows the script I read... there is a good reason for the tentative ackwardness between them.
I understand your delima though, why? Well (bracing for atrtack) I am one of the people who hasn't seen the chemistry between Rob and Kristen ON SCEEN! I am not talking about their personal lives here. I'm talking on screen. I see their performances in the Twilight Saga as a little uncomfortable... I loved the movies.. mostly because I love the story and I love him.. so.. I have my three copies of Twilight as well and have already pre-ordered 2 copies of New Moon, because I am lost to him..
Anyway... I guess it all comes down to perception and perceptions are like opinions, and everyone know opinions are like.... A$$holes... everybody has one right? :)
I am looking forward to this movie because I see intriguing things between the two characters... I am thrilled to see it.. I can not wait.. if it's not as good as I hope it is, I will admit it.. because I'm honest.. but from what I have seen... I'm thinking I am going to not only be plesantly surprised, but I will be seeing it repeatedly!
Thanks for the forum again Rose.. you always make me think.. even if our opinions do tend to be opposing!
I love that we can agree to disagree! That's why I come here, because you allow it :)
Totally agree, there doesn't seem to be any chemistry between Emilie and Rob. The scenes were awkward and her accent was driving me nuts. Of course I will still see Remember Me. I want to love it...and I'm sure I will if for nothing else than the Rob eye candy. :)
God bless you for writing the truth bb! you're not alone in "not seeing it"...maybe it's all the peer pressure to "see it" that makes our eyes and ears all weird and we strain too much..but...yeah...not feeling it! and while I buy a lot of things about this Remember Me story (the carefree relationship with Aidan, the protectiveness and great brother/sister relationship with little Caroline, the strained relationship with his dad...the romance angle I don't buy...dunno...I said it to my girls this morning...I finally realized what my issue with Emilie is: the same as with Taylor Lautner: voice doesn't match the face/stature...also mouth doesn't match the face but that's irrelevant now...she's distracting me because what her voice says and what her height/figure say are 2 different things :S
Aaaaaaanyway...I will watch RM on opening weekend, will buy the DVD when it launches, will light a candle for the success of the movie, because it's Rob's movie...but, please don't put pressure on me to "see it" because I just...can't!
Everybody certainly has a right to their own opinion & shouldn't be crucified for it. I personally liked them & thought they were cute. It's been a while since I read the script but I think this was the first date, dinner & carnival, so I can understand the playing it as awkward. Until I see the entire movie, I won't be able to form a real opinion. And regarding the chemistry, I didn't see it in New Moon at all where others did so who knows. I'm looking forward to seeing the ENTIRE movie.
Rose: Once again "what can I say" That's exactly what I thought ! I love him !It's like one of my kids ( I want him to do well) but unlike my kids I'm madly in love with (HIM) with his awkwardness, his flaws, that face (that beautiful face,) those wonky legs ! His Smile (oh I love his smile) and like you I'll buy and watch everything he's doing. But the chemistry is not like I hoped. But I love him and will support him in anything he does. Those Bel Ami photos look great ! I just love seeing him. grazie for another honest caring post about OUR MAN!
Thanks Rose for being honest. From the first day I saw the trailer, I knew his accent was going to be distracting and I'm puzzled why they did not let him and Pierce keep their beautiful accents. I can't fully judge from just small glimpse of short clips, but I'm not feeling any amazing chemistry between Tyler and Allie either. The scenes were cute but there was some awkwardness as well, but I'm hoping the entire movie will be so much better than what we've seen so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rob that this movie will do well for him, but I'm nervous about what the critics will say. I hope we will be pleasantly surprised.
k1
Rose I could not agree more I want this movie to do really well for Rob and I think moneywise it will do good but I sorta cringed while watching the clips I just didn't see the connection between them and everything just seemed forced but I hope my opinion will change once I see the whole movie.
Thank you for being honest sometimes its scary when you state your opinion cause people will jump down your throats thinking your a hater towards Rob or Emile or both belive me could not be further from the truth.
I think they look cute together but the scenes in the trailers are not convincing. It seems to me that the role didn't fit with their age knowing that it's for teens but they don't look like one. They look awkward together, seems trying hard to deliver their lines but hey, you have to watch the movie to understand the whole story. All the pieces of these trailers just like puzzles and when assembled into one might be with good results.
Corale
I totally agree with Kelly..
''there is a good reason for the tentative ackwardness between them'' YES!!!
Its hard to judge a relationship from just one clip imo..
You're a brave woman, Rose. LOL
I agree with you, but for me it's not as much about the EDR/Rob chemistry as about Rob's acting in scenes with her -- well, that might be chemistry after all.
I think EDR is a good actress. I think Rob is at times a very good actor -- sometimes not so much.
But even when EDR and Rob are introducing clips, Rob seems awkward and lacking in confidence.
I realize that EDR is 6-7 years older than Rob and more experienced in, well, everything. But where is that guileless, charming, witty, even confident Rob we've seen in the past?
It seems to me that Rob and Kristen do very well in interviews when they are together and not so much apart. And Rob just may not do so well with other actresses at this point in his career evolution.
I love Rob and I'm not one of those that thinks he can't act with anyone but Kristen. I think he has the potential to be a fine and compelling actor. But maybe it's time to take a break and have some discreet acting lessons.
I really think that it's a combination of being young, having this volcanic career thrust upon him, and being aware of all the responsibilities that now lie at his feet.
I plan to see RM, buy the video and support Rob however I can. But I'm a little afraid for him. He's lost something he had not long ago -- I hope he can get it back.
Lynn
I disagree, I totally see the chemistry between them, and it is natural, they're playful and smiley and coupley with each other, unlike in Twilight movies, where the main leads look bored and/or pissed off at each other the entire time. They are awkward and stiff. And the acting's good too in these clips imo, if you think it's forced/stiff, then why still hope the movie does well for Rob? He will be ripped apart by critics if his acting isn't almost perfect, that's for sure.
On IMDb there's a review from someone who saw the movie at the test screening, and that person said that before watching Remember Me she thought Rob was one of the worst actors, but the movie proved her wrong, she thought Rob did a great job as well the rest of the cast. And it's not the only positive review I've read of the movie and its actors, there have been many.
speaking of awkardness i've u seen his chemistry with kristen in the twilight movies???its just boring like they dont love each other but i gotta agree their off screen chemistry is hot but it just not working on screen.so im not making any judgements but i think his on screen chemistry with emilie is waaay better than kristen.so yeah ,ever think of that?
Bless you Rose for being brave enough to state your honest opinion. I have the same thoughts as you and to tell you the truth, I'm worried about how this movie will be received with the critics. The scenes have looked awkward and ducking for cover here, Rob looks clumsy and strange in them. Also the whole 9/11 thing is a minefield that I wish Rob had stayed away from. That being said, I hope it does well for him.
Totally agreeing on that. I really want to be happy and thrilled but I can't. There just something that isn't there and I really hope that the whole movie will change that. Well, we'll see...
I disagree with the people who said there wasn't any chemistry in Twilight. I thought that was about the only thing that saved Twilight, Rob and Kristen's chemistry was palpable. Even though it's a rated PG-13 movie and barely any touching between Edward and Bella in the movie, the chemistry was totally there. Maybe it was the way they looked at each other or something, and that kiss was so innocent but yet it sizzled more than most french kisses I've seen.
Some reviews from people who already saw RM

These opinions give me hope...
I disagree..
I don't see awkwardness so much as 'getting to know each other'...
i really feel the connection between Rob and Emilie and this just makes me want to see this movie even more..
To be honest from just these clips I rather liked Emilie's acting...but Rob not so much...but really lets just wait for the whole movie ;)
p
Rose: Me again after more thought to what you said. I also need like you said to see the whole movie and then decide. We want him to do well! I think he is using his shy, not sure of himself ways in these clips, and isn't that what we love about him. I also think that their relationship is awkward because they're just starting to know each other. I can't wait to see it and critics never change my mind or stop me from seeing a movie! Love, love ,love him! grazie
"And when you are not all smiley and cheery
when it comes to Robert...
You get accused of attacking him...
or not being a 'true' fan."
Rose, what can i say? 100% fuckawesome that´s what you are.
Big smooch for you, my dear.
I love your blog and I love your honesty. My honest opinion.. I'm not sure what to make of the RM clips. But I would have to agree with the above poster Kelly. I did feel some awkwardness between Rob and Emile. But I think there is some potential chemistry there. Also..deep breath.. I loved New Moon but I just couldn't feel the chemistry between Bella and Edward. Maybe a little, but it wasn't exactly mind-blowing. Sorry, this is just my opinion. But I will wait until I have seen Remember Me and hope the cheimstry is great. I love Rob and I hope he does well in this movie. Have a nice day Rose. x
From one of those who saw the movie
'I saw this at a test screening last year when they were still working on it. It’s not blah, it’s effing intense and funny and it’s not some Hollywood sappy romance, either. If anything I’d say it’s gritty and real and the story is actually beautiful. It’s more about family and relationships than love, anway. When I went into the screening I almost died when I found out it was Pattinson because I couldn’t stand him. When I came out? I was a fan. He was absolutely great in this and seeing him up against Chris Cooper? Chills man…. People should go…you won’t regret.'
I think it goes both ways with people seeing what they want to see. Those who are hugely into Rob/Kristen as Edward/Bella or as Robsten, will not see chemistry between Rob/Emilie because they refuse to acknowledge it.
Those who are oppose to Robsten will see loads of chemistry between Rob/Emilie because it proves to them that Rob can have chemistry with anyone.
The thing to remember is that Rob personally chose Emilie. He had auditioned with several other actresses and couldn't make it work. Emilie was hired and sent to wardrobe the very same day she and Rob read together. That means a lot. No?
Personally, based on the little that I've seen, I think Rob and Emilie work really well together.
Ofcourse Rob and Kristen will be easier around each other (Robsten or Nonsten), they've known each other longer, worked on the same franchise with the same characters for years and have spent loads of time together outside of work.
There is no comparison between the characters of Tyler/Ally and Edward/Bella. The only "extended" interaction we've seen of Rob/Emilie is in character.
Rose, you are like a breath of fresh, rational, sane air in this fandom. I've been reading your blog for a few months now and I find myself always nodding along to everything you write. Once again, I agree with everything you've written today. I hope RM is a success and that Rob is received well by critics and moviegoers alike, but from what I've seen so far, I'm not loving it as much as I want to be. Maybe once we're able to view the clips in the context of the movie as a whole, our doubts will go away. *fingers crossed*
Loved your post Rose and your courage to state your opinion. I am very excited to see this movie. I thought the shower scene was great. The cab and dinner scenes seemed a bit awkward to me to me. But these are 3 scenes out of an entire movie. Since I have not read the script, I will withhold judgement until I see the entire movie. I too will go to the theater (probably opening weekend) to see it and buy the DVD as I have his others. I want him to have a successful career.
Keep on doing what you do Rose. You do it very well.
You know, chemistry is an amazing thing. I remember when Roswell was on and Emilie came into the picture. She had such amazing chemistry with the guy who played Kyle. I was sure they would get together. Then the writers had a brain fart and decided they would be more like
brother and sister’. Ha! Not believable. At. All. Writers can do weird things with actors and their chemistry. And honestly, I thought R&K as B&E in Twilight had some chemistry going on. New Moon, not as much, but for obvious reasons. R&K in real life are off the charts with the chemistry. And of course everyone sees things differently so there’s no magic criteria to judge chemistry. It’s all in the eye of the beholder. That said..
I understand and respect your opinion Rose. Brave of you to face the maddening hoard with something less than glowing reviews. But while I’ve agreed with you 100% on the blog so far in this instance I have to kind of disagree. Kind of, because you had some valid points. The accents were the greatest. Fortunately, for me, I don’t pay much attention to that kind of thing so it doesn’t really matter to me. And a few scenes felt awkward. But I’m thinking that maybe it was supposed to be awkward... could be.
But honestly, when I saw the clips last night I really felt no trepidation at all. I thought they both did a fine job and I was actually happy thinking Rob was doing well and maybe, just maybe, this movie would do even better than expected. I don’t see a lot of ‘chemistry’ between the two as in ‘wow they are madly in love’ (it seemed more like the getting to know you stage of a relationship) but I was thoroughly engrossed in the scenes and thought they were great. Maybe I have no taste, or maybe it’s just ‘my’ taste. I confess that RM is not a movie I would ordinarily go to see. RP is putting my butt in the theater seat. I just PRAY is does well. I want it to at least get some good reviews and do respectably. Money is what counts in HW and everybody will be looking to see how it does, but reviews matter almost as much in this case. I don’t know how the ending will be received though. It really could go either way. A lot depends on how the rest of the film is. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on this info...I want HOPE but I am not sure !!!
@imloco2
That's the bottom line....
The cab/dinner scenes are at the beginning, when they aren't in a relationship yet, when they AREN'T in love yet, it's their first date, so of course they won't make it feel like they're madly in love. That's how it's supposed to be!!!
Seriously it's a bit premature to judge the chemistry/acting on a few clips, which have been taken out of context, wait for the actual movie
I've read a lot of great reviews on Remember Me.. I think some of you people judging the movie way too much.
I thought it seemed forced. I don't know, maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I'm a robsten fan, but I'm a Rob fan first and I want him to do well in everything he does. I want him to have white hot chemistry with every actress on screen. Maybe when it gets seen in full it will flow better.
As for being kinda awkward, well, who wasn't at their first date? That's real, and Rob/Emilie showed how it's in real life.
You can't really compare the chemistry with Edward/Bella or Rob/Kristen in Twilight. These two will not be voted as the best couple if they don't have this chemistry. Don't forget that Edward is a more than a hundred years old/old fashion vampire and Bella is an awkward clumsy girl in the movies and the Twilight Saga will not be as popular as this if only few had supported their on screen chemistry. The prove is they are among the top grosser as screen couple. RM is a romantic/drama film which is just like the same nature with TYH. EDR and Rob looked good together but it seems to me that the chemistry only appears in all their steamy scenes. Is it possible that Rob is being exploited as a sex symbol giving films that has to do with women rather than anything that has to do with acting skills knowing that his fan base will support more by sympathy because of his personality that they adore?
@anonymous February 11, 2010 1:11 PM
Yeah, exactly, and those reviews are from people who actually saw the entire movie (and it wasn't even a final version), and many of them came from non-Rob/Twilight fans, imo their opinion means more than whatever those who judge it based on 3 clips say...especially those who are Robsten fans. Deny all you want, you're biased...
OMG Bb,you said the unthinkable. LOL
Yeah,I love RM cuz its first Rob`s movie post Twilight&thats the main reason why I would see any and all Rob`s movies.Same with BA. No movie is perfect, just like no human being (including Rob ;D) is,but like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)
Regarding Rob/EdR chemistry...well,its notexactly fireworks, but I believe its enough to hold the movie&I hope majority of viewers will appreciate that&do their part to make RM do well. Ppl who say that their chemistry is "off the charts" need to have their eyes examined,though.JS *sigh*
But what really irks me is ppl not seeing beyond the romance part of this movie.Because this movie is so much more than romance. Its about life and how important every moment in our life really is.
We can talk&talk, but life goes by so fast&sooner or later, one way or the other, something will make us aware of our own mortality. Intelligent ppl will want to see this movie for what it really is.An honest story about 2 ppl who found each other in the craziness of their lives&who hoped for the best, not knowing what lurkes around the corner, but still determined to make every second count. That is how I see this movie.<3
@Monika
Rose said an opinion from the clips SHE has seen. She said she wants the film to do well and she will support it. We get it, you think in the context it's in they should act that way. But everyone has the right the an opinion on what they have seen, and my personal opinion is I will have to see the full movie because these particular clips didn't work for me either. It's ok for people to have a differing opinion than you.
Wow. I thought I was the only one who had mixed feelings about the TV spot and clips. And my feelings have NOTHING to do with his chemistry with Ally/Emilie. I read the script for Remember Me and thought it was quite good, but it doesn't seem seem to be translating as well onscreen. IT'S JUST A FEW CLIPS, I KNOW. I am making NO sweeping judgements. It's just my initial impression. As a New Yorker, their accents are throwing me, but I can put that aside. Frankly, the acting is not very convincing. I understand the context of the scenes and the tone they were going for, but it still seems...off. I like to think that when seen as a whole body of work, I will have a much different reaction.
I'm a huge fan of Rob's and think he has amazing potential, but I viewed these scenes as an avid movie fan first, Rob obsessor second. It doesn't make me a troll or any less of a fan, it just makes me (and anyone else that has a less than glowing opinion) honest.
@May
'Ppl who say that their chemistry is "off the charts" need to have their eyes examined,though.JS'
The same can be said about those who think Edward and Bella's chemistry is 'off the charts', it may have been good in Twilight, but sorry, in New Moon there was little to no chemistry between Rob and Kristen. And I'm saying this as a Rob fan, and someone who acknowledges/likes them together. Take off your Robsten glasses. This is my honest opinion.
They're even nominated for a Razzie for a Worst Couple On Screen, and with that I cannot disagree.
Two movies in and I've yet to be convinced Edward and Bella love each other, let alone love each other deeply and obsessively.
There's too much awkwardness/seriousness between them.
@monika
WE'RE biased?? I think your negative opinion of Rob and Kristen's chemistry carries a whole lot of bias! Lemme guess, you hate Kristen?
You're preaching on about how Rob and Emilie are "supposed" to be awkward, blah blah, and making all kinds of excuses for them. I think that Rob and Kristen's characters in Twilight/New Moon have valid reason for not acting all "lovey dovey and mushy" but I don't see you making excuses for THEM. Hello, biased.
People are entitled to their own opinions. You posting 15 times here trying to desperately plead your case isn't going to change our minds....
I don't know why people are brining Kristen into this at all. She has nothing to do with Remembe Me...
It's impossible to judge whether any film or performance is good or bad from trailers/clips alone. NM looked awesome from all the trailers/clips we saw and it was AWFUL...NO chemistry b/w Rob and Kristen(I didn't see much in Twilight either) Plenty off screen(!!) but they appeared awkward together onscreen, esp. Kristen who did not act like a girl in love at all. The love story b/w Tyler and Ally is only one of his relationships...he has one with his dad, one with his sister, and one with his BF. Those who have seen the film in test audiences said they are all equal in importance, and several commented on the great chemistry b/w Rob and Pierce. One who is not a Rob fan(thought he was not good in the Twi films) said his acting was actually very good and he shined. It's a shame that Summit is concentrating on the love one when there is SO much more.
I would also think that the horrrible filming circumstances last summer would have thrown even an experienced actor for a loop and Chris and Pierce have both commented on how hard it was for Rob and how they admire him for handling all this at his age.
Also, the clips we have seen are at the *beginning* of their relationship...the scenes are going to be awkward and Tyler does have ulterior motives by asking her out. Who isn't awkward on a first date esp. under suspicious circumstances? I think people need to chill, enjoy his film and performance and not expect Rob to be DeNiro overnight.
I loved your post and I am so glad I'm not the only one not seeing or feeling the chemistry (and I too am beginning to hate that word-only two people should be able to talk about chemistry IMO LOL). I Also thought the original trailer looked much better than these clips we've been seeing. Truthfully, I so don't feel the chemistry from these clips that it's almost making me feel much better about watching the entire movie. I thought I would have a hard time watching Rob with Emilie (for some reason I just don't care for her...and NOT because she's in the movie with Rob), but now, I'm feeling pretty good about going to see the movie. I'm going to see the movie opening weekend because I support Rob and Kristen, and what's good for one is good for the other. I must say I am looking more forward to The Runaways though. JS :)
A male review of RM
"Watched a rough screening of a movie called 'Remember Me'. It was very original, acted well, and intense. The actor from Twilight definitely shows intense acting in this and at the same time he is playful and sweet with his girlfriend in the movie. The movie wasn't edited, yet it was one of the best movies I've seen. Yes I've seen Avatar and District 9! I highly recommend this movie."
Adding to my comment above, when I saw the trailer for The Hurt Locker, I thought "another boring war film,no thanks." I just saw it last week as I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and can honestly say it is one of the best films I have *ever* seen. So you never know.
Another review from a guy
"I never really gave thought about Rob Pattinson as an actor but he was astounding in Remember Me. His chemistry with his father, younger sister, best friend, mother, and girlfriend were so well acted. I couldn't even tell if he was the bad actor from Twilight. He's much beyond Twilight. I very much enjoyed the film. Pierce and Rob really showed intensity throughout the film."
For myself,I will go by all the reviews that the test screeners have put out on different online communities, including men, those who have seen the full movie.Pretty much everyone has said that RM is a very intense movie, you will leave the theatre definitely talking about it & Rob really surprised some who did not like him going into it but came out liking & praising his performance.
I don't like watching clips for this reason. It is akin to taking a few verses from the Bible completely out of context and not getting the 'full picture' of what comes before and after. I will wait and see this before making any judgement calls. Looks pretty good to me so far and I love dysfunctional family dramas. Gone with the Wind? No and not expecting it.
Summit did a horrible job promoting and marketing Hurt Locker, and I'm afraid they are doing it again. by focusing on the Emilie/Tyler relaysh only, they are missing many of the other key important relationships in the movie. I do not mind at all seeing Rob with another actress, and I will admit the clips have made me like Emilie a lot more. I am going to go opening weekend and will reserve judgement. Just remember, Hurt Locker is A LOT better than the way Summit promoted it!

Well,i know Monica really well, because she's a poster at Robsessed.Or at least she was, because i don't go there anymore, because of posters like her and some others, who are thinking that Rob is their dream man and Kristen is the devil woman, who stole their future husbant/lover from them!
Personally i liked Rob with Emilie. They looked great together.I didn't like the scipt, though, because it's just a middle-class drama,a chick flick like so many others we've seen. And i don't think this will be one of the best ones.
Rob and Kristen's chemistry saved Twilight,as much as some women don't want to admit that. The movie was ridiculous and if there were other leads ,it would have been a flop.I agree that at NM we didn't see that, but don't forget that we didn't see many E/B scenes. It suppose to be about how great JACOB was and how Bella fell for him.I hope at Eclipse the things will better. And it bothers me so much all this stupid debate about Rob's chemistry with his leading ladies.I bet that he'll have great chemistry with all the ladies from BA,too. And don't forget that Twilight saga is NOT the same type of movie as RM and Edward is NOT the same character as Tyler.Edward is a virgin, moodie, deserved guy,who is afraid to touch his love, because he thinks he will hurt her.He couldn't jump into showers with Bella, like Tyler does.So please cut the debate bullsit. You compare two totally different films and characters.
Rose, you know what it bothers me with all these RM clips? That they're all about Tyler/Allie's hot scenes, not scenes with his bf,his sister or his parents.Do you suspect why?Because they know how to attract girls in theatres, but showing some wet and sexy Pattz.Despite the chemistry between EDR and him,the women who will go and see this film is just for drooling over him, they don't give a shit about Emilie and they know it.All this fuss around RM,EDR and Rob opposite Rob and Kristen is butter in their bread.
I would like to finish with a wish.I love Rob,not sexually,i don't drool over him.I think he's a sweet and adorable guy and i think he can do so much better that these films. He's not just a cute face,or the ladies romantic hero that he chooses with his roles. He can do something totally different like Art in How to be.He is better in the akward and dorky roles.Maybeif he stopeed playing the lover, the crazy loonies would leave him alone and he could get his privacy back.
Sally
RoseSee, I love the way you put your opinions across. I too will go to see any film that Rob is in. I think his chemistry with Emilie deRavin is ok but just ok in the film clips I've seen. I'd need to see the whole thing to judge it honestly but I hope it's enough as I really want the film to be a success for him. I also know having read the script that the romance part is only a very small part of the film and hope that people will see what a wonderful but extremely poignant drama it is.
Hey Rose i really loved your post I can see where your comming from This was the first movie (OUT of Twilight) and I to want him to do good I just cant wait to see ALL of the movie so he mite not have done that good in the romance department with Emilie but he has a hole movie to do I cant wait to see it all then i well say my opinion I LOVE ROB AND want him to do good in all that he dose thanks again Rose I do see what you are saying I cant wait to see Bel Ami and as for him and Kris She once said that its not like Edward and her can make out he is always wanting to kill her so i do see the (WANTING) in then but didnt get it in RM sorry it just wasnt there for me I well go and see the movie bye it when it comes out because i want to support Rob
To Sara 2-ITA with your post on what Summit did to the Hurt Locker...one of the best films EVER made(Roger Ebert just listed it as number 2 on his best film list in the last 10 yrs) They did NO promotion for that and it was gone before anyone had even heard of it(I did see a trailer for it last summer and thought "Meh." Glad I changed my mind and saw it now. You are right about how Summit is promoting RM as a romance only and it is NOT. I wonder if they are doing this w/the success of Dear John, but they need to wise up and realize women do not need romance to see a good movie. I really hope they also focus on the other relationships in clips, REALLY looking forward to seeing Rob with Pierce, Chris and Ruby, more so than the romantic lead they are focusing on.
Thanks anon2:33. I especially want to see Rob's interaction with the little girl who plays his sister. Even when he is talking about her on Facebook, you can tell the difference. Show that, and not all these other clips. Or, Pierce Brosnan - he will get butts in the theaters - show him more! The accents don't bother me, but I just don't notice stuff like that. (unless it's a bad southern accent. I'm a southerner and HATE that). I also don't get why Lena Olin is being left off the poster, the clips, the trailer?? She is awesome. The pics with her, Rob and his sister, I guess they are supposed to be family pix, seem real and not forced. Where is that? Anyway, like the Hurt Locker, we may be seeing an example of bad marketing. But it is Summit. I'm sad for Rob if that is the case. I will go and can't wait!

Honestly. I have to wonder if some people actually READ what I write.
Monika? I appreciate your point of view... I'm happy that you find incredible chemistry with Emilie and Robert. Awesome.
I don't. And no amount of opinions that you throw at me will change my mind. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Kristen Stewart. At least for me. If some people would bother to read what I wrote, you would see that I am willing to admit that seeing the whole movie will hopefully change my opinion. But I haven't seen the movie yet, I've seen the clips that Summit has decided to share with us... and I'm not impressed.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME.
So please stop trying to make me agree with you.
I love Rob. I think he's talented beyond belief. I want to see Rob spread his wings and I want him to have chemistry with all of his costars. I want him to show critics he's more than Twilight. These clips however, seem contrived. You don't know how badly I don't want to think that. If it makes me a bad fan by not saying it was great and how I think it's supposed to be, so be it. I guess I just have faith in him more than what I've seen in these clips. Maybe the full movie will be much better, and I'm sure it will be. But looking at it without your Kristen hating glasses can anyone say that Rob and Emilies chemistry is off the charts? Because I'm not even Robsten I'm, I don't give a crap as long as they are happy-sten, and I don't see it.
Amanda
I must agree with you, in fact, I’m a little (if I can say the word) sick of the trailer and the clips already. It’s like summit are trying so hard to garner interest in the movie they are willing to bombard people with it 24/7 and they are doing it all wrong too…I mean from the trailers and the clips they are making it out to be a romance with a happy and wistful ending. I hope people won’t be disappointed much plus like one of your posters said the subject of 911 is not an easy one to swallow! Sympathy or not people will not walk out of the theater with an easy feeling nor will it invoke a profound and thoughtful chatter afterwards.
As for the chemistry thing, I also (as mentioned above) don’t see it, I know both of them were great in putting all effort in their roles, we’ve all seen the little snippets of filming etc back in June, but we’ve also seen how miserable Rob was whenever his picture was taken during that whole filming schedule, and I wonder if that translates into his performance, he’s so transparent that you could see him loud and clear, his eyes are his biggest give away…and I’ve been saying that I don’t see it, whether it be on or off camera, the eyes don’t lock with EDR the way they did with KS in Twi(not because it’s KS but because the two of them had something together as they’ve been saying all along and it also came loud and clear). How many of us could attest to watching twilight countless times? One time after the other without ever getting tired of it, not because it’s a great piece of work but because you see the tension palpable and real and raw, and you want to witness that again and again just to make sure you’re not seeing things…because that sort of thing doesn’t really come across in movies a lot. No matter how good an actor is! So yes RM will be lacking a lot of that, and many will be disappointed in that area as well as others. But I’m hoping with a little more experience Rob will start to give us just as invested work as he did with the twi saga, just as much interest in his roles and even possibly the same chemistry he had with his entire cast in twilight etc.
First of all Rose didn't make any comparison to the Twilight movies.
She judged what she has seen of RM. So please don't discuss Rob and Kristen here. Then you should also bring the chemistry between Dakota and Kristen into the discussion.
I disagree with all people who say wait till you have seen the whole movie until you make a judgement.
Summit releases trailers, teaser and clips. And of course you can have an opinion on that.
Right now they focus on the love story/steamy scenes and show clips which seem to be a bit awkward and out of context. I havn't seen the whole film so I will make a judgement based on what I have seen so far.
For example if the Alice in Wonderland trailer would seems odd to you, wolud you also say "oh wait till you see the whole movie"?
So the thing is called marketing, and it is made by the studio!!
But I agree with Rose. What I have seen so far the first trailer was good, the stills are beautiful with a lot of chemistry. But the last clips and also the short facebook interviews were more a "hmmmm" to me. This is my judgement based on the things Summit has given during their marketing campaign so far. So if I wouldn't be a fan I would probably at this point not be really teased to see the film.
I forgot to add as well that possibly the Edward appeal to women (of all ages) is his off the charts chivalry persona something they don’t see much these days in the guys/SOs they encounter on a daily basis. Something they long for immensely and Rob with his own politeness and ingenuity that came across in his role as Edward fascinated them enchanted them and that was a huge part of this appeal as a person as well as an actor. If the same women that supported Rob as Edward, will also support him if he plays the role of an AXE murderer and still look at him with goo goo eyes, lol sorry had to throw that in there, then my assessment is totally wrong and it’s just this movie that is causing many of his devout fans much discomfort. Eh we shall wait and see!
to anon. 3:59,disagree with what you said about not making a judgement based on a trailer/clips. Did you not read the poster above who said he/she did not want to see the "Hurt Locker" bec. it looked boring from the trailer but said it was a great film after they chose to go ahead and see it? "Can't judge a book by its cover" is my motto.
Well...I honestly think the "awkwardness" that others are commenting on in these clips is just the fact that Rob hardly had any lines in either of these clips! I'm sure the movie will be great. But, that's what I don't understand...why did they release clips where Emilie is the one doing most of the talking? I don't see Rob not having any chemistry with Emilie only because he seems to get along with anyone and everyone! I think if people are basing that opinion on pictures taken of them on set, then they should remember that those pics were taken while they were being watched by three thousand people everyday, which would put a strain on anyone.
It's funny how after Rose said it wasn't anything to do with Kristen in her post, the people who think Rob and Emilie's chemistry is so great dragged Kristen into it. Same with IMDB, I swear sometimes I think they are more obsessed with Kristen than they are with Rob. You'd think if they truly wanted Rob to be thought of completely seperate from Kristen they wouldn't bring her up all. But since they started it with the E/B have zero chemistry thing, all I have to say is, please. Critics said their chemistry was they best part of the movie. And trust me, when I saw Twilight I didn't even know who they were so I can be completely objective about it. I have to wonder, if Emilie was the one he was holding hands with and going on trips with if these women would still say their chemistry is off the charts? I think it's more about trying to go against Kristen than thinking that R/E have this amazing chemistry. Just my opinion.
OMG Anon @ 5:27 you read my mind! WELL SAID!
to February 11, 2010 5:16 PM
I don't think the fact that 3000 were watching was what put a strain on Rob and made him look miserable during the entire shoot of RM! He had the same situation during the filming of NM/Eclipse but you didn't see him miserable at all!! We've all seen candids of him and cast all smiley faced going to each other's Bday parties and attending concerts and going out to dinners. So NO sorry I'm not buying this whole "he was sad because he was watched by too many fans/Papps" deal. My belief is that he was sad because he didn't have all the aforementioned intimacy with his cast, a realization that hit home- that NO he won't be as close nit with everyone he will work with- and it's showing in his performance IMO.
3 Twilights? Lol, I have two and most of the other Rob movies. I feel like your cousin or something.
I've only seen one RM clip, the shower one. It's hard to tell about chemistry yet. I hope they have it. I want this movie to do well for Rob.
The clip had me wondering if Emily's character is a bit of a nut job, however. Throwing a pot of spaghetti noodles on someone? First of EWW....secondly, wasn't it hot? sticky? I mean, if she wanted to pour something on him, pour a glass of wine, or beer, or water...the spaghetti just makes her look nutty and not in goofy, cute kind of way. But that's jmho.
I tend to agree with you Rob's voice seems to lack projection - it's essential, of course, for theatre work. If he did more of that would prob. help, he is working with a theatre director on Bel Ami (who wrote an acclaimed book on acting too), hopefully he will help Rob improve. Having said that sometimes these little clips do not work out of context, I saw a clip of the Runaways and thought that was bad, but the movie has had great reviews, so cannot always tell. Anyway, at the end of the day just one movie, if not good Rob has a lot of living ahead - only 23 - does not really matter, does it. Like you say he is a great guy, that's more important really.
I totally disagree. I can't wait to see this film. I think he and Emilie looked hot together. I think he and Kristen had great chemistry in Twilight. In New Moon (although I love them) I thought they were awful together. Their acting took a dive and the chemistry was gone. I blamed Christ Weitz for it. I will not get that DVD that's how much I hated the film. However, My fave on screen couple right now is Rob and Javier Beltran. I just saw Little Ashes OMG talk about STEAMY! I haven't seen Rob like that with anyone. Kristen better bring it on in Eclipse.
Rose you are 1 true fan, i don't like when women think of Rob like a man meat (make us sounds cheap and him too) and nothing more...i'm sure Rob will be more appreciate a fans with a more interest in his craft than his face and body. monika, pls accept this Kristen is in his life(as friend or lover) and you are not and so do i.
to DeDe-sorry but Rob did NOT have 3000 fans/paps screaming at him etc while filming NM or Eclipse. They were closed sets with the exception of Italy. Pierce and Chris have both commented they had never seen anything like the chaos surrounding Rob on the set of RM, with noisy fans literally 25 feet away from him while trying to film a street scene. You will have to try harder.
Well what about in the indoor RM scenes with NO fans around? Rob didn't do well in those scenes either. The excuse about the fans is lame. Try again, Anon.
5:54 anon, from what I have heard, Ally is a bit different and free-spiritish, she had major trauma in her life(not going to spoil it) have not read the script but sounds like maybe she is an oddball. Bring it on! lol
7:01 anon...LMAO The movie isn't even out yet and you say he didn't do well in those scenes? That's YOUR opinion from CLIPS, there are plenty who think he did just fine in them, myself included AND including people who have actually SEEN the movie. Fail.
sounds like R haters are starting to make their way here, probably from Ted's where they come from 'Eclipse bitches'(yes there really is a website and they put R down for everything) as well as Twatlighters.
Rose, you are entitled to your opinion so no worries from me. Chemistry is very subjective. For instance, some swear that Rob and Kristen are bland in Twilight while I think they're scorching HOT together. Same goes for Rob and Emilie, some don't think they have any while I think they have a very natural HOT chemistry.
I also didn't have any problem with the accents or the delivery. Clips are hard to judge since they're out of context. Plus clips on TV can't compare to the finished product in the theater. What seems low volume in truth may be a normal speaking volume in the theater.
So far, the clips have only served to increase my already high desire to see this film. Pity that it's not March yet.
"And when you are not all smiley and cheery
when it comes to Robert...
You get accused of attacking him...
or not being a 'true' fan."
That right there says it all...and you have to hear rant after rant about it. I ADORE Rob and I think his career will be successful but that doesn't mean I have to like every single movie he does. And again as others have said it has nothing to do with Kristen or his personal life. He has many steamy scenes in Bel Ami and I can't wait for that. My biggest issue is that out of all the actresses that are within the early 20's range they picked someone near 30 to play Allie. Emilie is a lovely actress and I have enjoyed her on Lost...just not feeling her for this part.
Maybe she will surprise me when I see the film in it's entirety...in fact I hope she does.
For those who are comparing this role to Twilight...Rob played a vampire who has to hold himself back in a very chaste love story. The movies where he can express passion should be steamier...at least I would hope so.
Thanks Rose for always being honest...even when you know it will not be received well. That's what I LOVE about you!
I will also be very honest with my opinion about your post Rose... i am just very disappointed... why? we've only seen short clips, and here everybody is discussing the chemistry and the acting... if you're really a fan you know very well that every negative comment about Rob will be used by the haters to bash him... i won't say you should lie but at least you could have been more positive and optimistic to wait for the whole movie first before you post anything about the movie particularly the acting... you should give Rob a little more consideration since no one here have seen the movie yet.. at the hype of the promotion, you would post something like this? sigh... im beginning to doubt you're a true Rob fan... but a shipper? Yes!
I hope you are so happy and relieved Rose after this post coz now haters are rejoicing that even the "so-called true fan" disses Rob's acting from just short clips of the movie... great!!!
2:36 and 2:43 I'm totally agree with you. If you don't like rob's acting, don't go to see the movie; rob doesn't need your money, he needs fans who love him as an actor, not for his good-looking, his girl friend or because he's a nice guy; It's such hypocritical and condescending.
Yeah haters are now using this post as another reason to bash Rob saying that even his own fans think 'he sucks at acting'. Congratulations Rose
Where did they saw the hotness of Rob? It was in Twilight with Kristen. If you don't agree that they don't have chemistry, it's BS! They don't even have to stripped off their clothes just a mere kissing and passionate looking to each others eyes. It was so passionate that every female audiences wants to have their own Edward and wanted to be in the place of Kristen. What about with EDR? Yes, they have intense chemistry too but with different scenes, like in bed halfly naked?, and in shower. Just more of an adult romance than in Twilight which they are teens. So if you are looking for chemistry for every female or male with Rob, yes there will always be some chemistry as a brooding lover like him. But I just wish that Rob will make more films which doesn't have to portray him like a sex symbol.
this board is a JOKE
1) if you see no chemistry between rob and emily, it has nothing to do with kristen, it's because you're just a SO HONEST fan.....
2) BUT if you see some chemistry (even a little) between r & e, you're just a kristen's hater, a BIG LIAR !!!!!!
congrats rose, this ooard is more bashing rob than an AT board but maybe is that you want since the begining ???? a lot of followers like ted c !!!!!
All you girls who are bashing Rose's opinion, why don't you go at the Robsessed blog or at Rob's IMDb where you can worship him and every move he makes?Rose adores Rob,but she sees his flaws, she's not blind. When you REALLY love someone, you're more strict with him, because you care.Rose just expressed her opinion,if you don't agree or accept or like it,leave this blog and never come back.I'm sure she won't mind.
If Rob wants to have a long and successful career,he has to stop playing the lover,or the romantic hero. He's a daring and brave actor and he can do much better.Until he decides to make different choices, all the delusional girls/women shall drool over his him, hate his personal choices and think they own him.
Edr is a married lady! So,hot chemistry or not(i don't see it),it's only professional.
to 7.09
we just expressed OUR opinion, like rose, if you don't agree or accept or like it,leave this blog yourself.how old are you ?????
to 7.09
you're an hypocrite, Rose can express her opinion but when you're not agree with her, you're a robsessed and you must leave this blog and never come back !!!!LOL grow up little girl !!!!
I must inform you that i'm not a little girl, are you?I'm just stuffed with all these bullshit. And people like you of course who have hate and nothing more and you see Rob as a perfect guy.Well, you know what? He's not!
And this is why I hate 'anonymous'. Probably one person posting over and over again making it seem like a lot of people are picking on Rose. Who does not deserved to be yelled at, called out, or called names. She stated her opinion on her blog and there's no question she loves Rob. Geez, grow up peop...uh, person.
P.S. Of course this is kind of demonstrating why Ted says the stuff he does. Look how many replies there are, even if half of them are from one person. He probably gets paid by the hit. I don't think poor Rose gets paid for this though. ;)
Rose,
I don't know how to reach you other than this and this board has been crazy with posts...but I was wondering if you saw this and I was curious for your opinion !!

in this board, if you don't think like rose, you just have to shut up and never come back!!! that's why i think you're such an hypocrite !!! and guess what little girl : rose is not perfect just like rob !!!!!
Judge RM AFTER seeing it not before. Thank you.
My God. And I was just saying the other day how I liked this board - people could have differing opinions (and often do), but it doesn't get nasty. Shit.
HOW DARE YOU BICTHS come in here and BASH ROSE!!!!!!!!!!her post helps me through the day WHY because I KNOW THAT SHE LOVES ROB AS MUCH AS I AND SOOOOO MEANY DO so shut the F.U.C.K. up and go away thank you Roses for your post we that can say we know you know what you were saying
Rose - you are entitled to your opinion. Yes, you are even entitled to your opinion on a movie trailer. Don't let anyone take that away from you. You did not bash Rob in any way. Our ancestors fought long and hard to give us the freedom to express our views in a non-fanatical, reasonable manner as you have done here.
Thank you for being honest. I'm sorry there are not more levelheaded people out there (like Kelly) who can just eloquently say that they disagree, but respect your opinion.
Don't let it get you down!
www.almiandmajo.tumblr.com
I agree with you 100% Rose. I will definitely see the movie because I know that it has more layers than the romance but the romance is just not drawing me in.
I wasn't looking forward to seeing Time Traveler's Wife because I loved the book so much but the chemistry shown between the characters in the trailer hooked me. I think what the biggest problem here is Summit's awkward marketing. As mentioned they have missed the mark on other movies of theirs as well.
Summit is pushing Robert as a romantic lead - which is in some ways understandable given his huge popularity right now - but the actors I really like with staying power have been more multi-dimensional. I hope the scenes with Tyler and his family make a difference for Rob. And with Bel Ami and Water for Elephants coming up we will hopefully be able to see more of his acting range. And he would be smart to get help honing his craft beyond moving from project to project. This guy has HUGE potential and I would hate to see it fizzle because of bad decisions.
I also have to say I really appreciate the tone of comments on this blog. Even when disagreeing.
I saw this movie in the theater. There was nothing wrong with the volume at the cinema. Rob's character "Tyler" is a lost soul. He protrays this very well as through the movie "Tyler" does come to grips with the drama in his life. "Allie" could have been portrayed better. She comes off very stiff at times. You don't believe the love connection. However the end kinda blew me away, I have not watched the dvd to the very end yet, can't face it. Very tough day to remember and once you get hooked into Tyler it brings all of the tragedy back full force.
