1. The OTR trailer was released yesterday.
After much delay and angst by all.
Well.. not by me
Because I'm kinda past the whole
"I have to see it as soon as its out" thing.
If I'm online when it's happening
Cool.
If not...
I know it will be waiting for me.
I can't deal with that kinda anxiety anymore
and quite honestly
its annoying being on twitter when something like that happens.
You get a zillion retweets of the same thing
Everyone wants to be the one to break the news.
ANYWAY.
That being said...
I finally did get to see the trailer for OTR
and...
May I say...
It looks fanFUCKINGtastic!
The actors
The music
The clothes and the cars and the sets.
And
Kristen.
AND
Tom.
In one movie.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited for this I am.

2. For some unknown reason...
There is some lame talk about Katy Perry.
And Rob.
I've had more than a few people ask me
what I thought about that.
About what exactly?
Some silly rag magazine
put something on their cover
about Rob texting Katy...
Keeping in mind this same rag
claims Kristen is pregnant
and that her and Rob are married
every other day...
And then some sleazy Pap shouts out to Rob
"You going to call Katy?"
(Don't hold me to the word for word
I only watched the video once...
Under protest I might add)
And supposedly Kristen got ALL upset
and said something like 'Shit!'
and threw her coat in the car.

3. The Paparazzi.
I know I have talked about this before.
And I will probably talk about it again.
For some reason this latest batch of airport photos
and video
has made the soapboxes come out

You know how it goes by now...
You have the people who think that being hounded
by the paparazzi is part of the job
and not a big deal at all.
You get the people who are so offended by it
they refuse to look at the pictures and videos
(yeah... sure)
You get the people who don't give a shit how the pics
are taken as long as they get to see Rob and Kristen.
I'm not sure exactly where I fall into this debate.
My opinion has changed as I have found out more
about what really goes on.

(like airport pics.)
But I have a hard time watching the videos...
So I usually pass on that.
I try not to post invasive and horrible pics.
Private. Personal.
But that's just me.
I don't go to the rag sites and give them hits.
I don't post the pics on Twitter.
I don't RT the pics...
and I try to police my own behavior
and not worry about everyone else.
I think my opinion really changed when Rob
was chased down and held hostage by the paps
that one day not so long ago...

And that hit me hard.
It still hits me.
Because the guy behind the camera
didn't fucking CARE
how upset Rob was...

He didn't look at Rob as a human being.
And that is painful.
There should be a line drawn somewhere...
A line Paps can't cross.
Stay a certain amount of distance away...
Not get in the way of their cars
No stalking private residences and children.
Public moments...
Not personal.
Why is it OK for these people to harass celebrities?
If someone were chasing you around with a camera
and screaming obscenities at you
Surely there is some sort of law against that type
of abusive and frightening behavior?
I don't understand.
I do know that they say horrible things
to Rob and Kristen...
And while Robert easily ignores any slings and arrows
directed at him...
But when he's with Kristen?
That's a game changer.
I fear that someone will say something to her
that will push him over the top...
Or they will get too close to Kristen
And he will protect her.
He will.
I hope that doesn't happen...
Because that's what they want.
But everyone has their breaking point.
They are only human
after all.

4. The Hunger Games contest.
There is always some sort of competition
between some franchise and Twilight.
Always.
I personally haven't read THG
and not sure I will.
It's not a priority with me right now
and I most definitely do not want to get
all involved in some other lunatic fanbase.
Because let's face it people...
There are lunatics in EVERY fanbase.
Before THG
Everyone was trying to compare Twilight to
the whole Harry Potter thing.
Why?
Some are so pissed off at Robert and Kristen
being together
that they have to compare the franchises.
Compare Kristen to Emma Watson
Or Jennifer Lawrence.
Why?
It's like they think that if THG out performs
Twilight...
It will somehow affect the relationship between
Robert and Kristen.
Sorry.
Doesn't work that way.
There are going to be movies that make more money
than the Twilight Saga...
And there will be plenty more
that won't.

Lol, I think it's habit for some people to just retweet any bit of film news, even if it's been retweeted by people they're following. I always feel with my followers that retweeting news I see is to help them get directed to the same news. So they don't miss out. There probably are people who want to retweet everything and be the founder of news. Oh well. Reminds me of those youtube videos where people post as the first comment, "first comment!"

Yeah I saw that video once too. I don't know what she said "shit" to. Who knows, she has a right to swear if that's what she thinks/feels at the time. I think she said it too. Judging from one still image of her by the car it looks like she's saying shit.
"My way is the ONLY way!" That's true. There were people on my timeline who were talking about how people blow it out of proportion, and then saying how Rob and Kristen feel. Nobody can be certain on if it effects them or not, or how long it effects them if so.
Glad you mentioned that incident where Rob asked for the paparazzi to go. Paparazzi don't look famous people as humans. They've got no feelings for anyone. They do take fucking plenty of pictures. Wherever they go. I know they'll never just fade away. It's a job to some. But sometimes I wish that the limit of how long they can hang around, as well as the limit of how many pictures they can take was implemented.

They disgust me. There should definitely be laws where they are concerned. What they do is a serious form of harassment - they stoop to disgusting lows, and these kids are forced to endure it day after day. That is just WRONG. As you said, I love me a good pic of Rob and Kristen, but the videos literally nauseate me.

It's one of my favorite books and I just have finished "One and Only: The Untold Story of On the Road" (the book about Lu Anne Henderson). She really was an extraordinary woman!
The book is really good and there is also lots of praise for Kristen in it <3

The whole paparazzi thing is such a double edged sword....the few pictures that we got this week of smiling, happy, sweet and lovely Rob & Kristen and Tom & Sienna make the sappy me go awwww....hearing about the videos and seeing some of the other pictures on fan sites make me feel like such a shitty fan for being happy to see the few stolen moments of their happy, knowing how much they hate it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, as usual. I apologize for not commenting recently, though I never miss a post. The airport pics .... I admit I looked and watched the video and became sadder and sadder as I did. Was I the only one that noted Rob's expression while they were walking? To me, he looked like it was taking all the control he had NOT to have her up next to him where he could hold her and protect ... but he behaved and let HBG do his job.
I, too, remember that day in Malibu in Summer of 2010. Again, I looked at the photos and watched the video and it was sickening. That's when I gained so much respect for Rob .... most young men of 24 would have lost their tempers or worse but he kept his cool and I believe he ended up spending the night at Soho West so the paps would find their home.
THG --- Yea, this fandom is so immature ... the stories have nothing in common, to call THG a "love story" is a real stretch, certainly nothing like the Twilight love story.
Rose, thank you again, SO MUCH, for writing this blog, it keeps us sane.

Here’s hoping Rob and Kristen have some pap-free days for the next little while. They both show incredible restraint in not reacting to the harassment they have to endure. I don't think I would do as well.
Congratulations to Kristen and Tom for their hard work on OTR. The trailer looks really good and certainly has everyone buzzing.

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I agree about the paparazzi, there are many occasions where they go too far and its not right, regardless of who it is! I happened to get caught in the middle of a swarm of paparazzi chasing after a celeb car one time, it was absolute insanity!
It sucks, but I guess the only bright side (if u can call it that) is that usually it seems to be maybe a 5-10min occurrence out of their day (like the airport) and they hopefully drive away & put it behind them. Its the all day stalking and taunting that is really upsetting.
On The Road trailer looks amazing, loved it! A lot of wonderful things on the horizon for Rob & Kristen professionally and that's exciting!

Is it so hard to some people believe that reason why Kristen said 'shit' and threw her coat in the car was because she just had a bunch of disgusting paparazzi taken her picture and she was upset/annoyed/irritated with the all situation, and not because of some idiotic bulshit yeld by a paparazzy. Like you said, always drama where is none...SO annoying!
I felt so terribly sad for Rob when I saw the vid of that day, the papz wouldn't leave him alone and he wanted to go home but Rob didn't want papz to follow him and find out where they lived. I wanted to be there armed with a bat and go medieval on those pappazzi and protect Rob.

First of all, Katy Perry, REALLY? where do these idiots come up with this crap. Like Rob would give up Kristen for anyone in the first place let alone Katy Perry. Not to mention the fact that she isn't even fully out of her marriage with Russell yet and is not even near ready for another relationship at this point in her life. Crazy!!!!!
I have never seen that picture of Rob with all those paps surrounding him like that, OMG what assholes. The poor guy looked so bewildered as what to do next. I totally agree about laws being made for this kind of harassment on stars & such it is so wrong. They try to say that the stars want the publicity they want their pictures they want to be stalked they just pretend they hate it but they really love it cause it gets their picture out there it's good publicity. BS, I don't believe there are any stars out there that really want this kind of publicity. When they are doing premiere's, going in and out of talk shows etc. should be the only time they are allowed to take their pictures. Stalking them at resaturants while they are trying to relax and be themselves, and at their homes, or the park or the gym all these things should be able to be private for them just as it is for everyone else. Like you said, if that happened to one of us we could call the police and the person would be arrested and if they kept doing it they could go to prison for quite a while. Why should it be any different for an actor are their lives not worth as much as ours, does their sanity not mean as much as ours. I hope for all their sakes something changes with these laws & soon.
I love the pictures of Rob & Kristen they are so beautiful together & so happy & I love to see them but I hate they way they get them. I can't wait for OTR to come out I think it is going to be amazing, and with Kristen and Tom in it who could ask for more.

As far as the paps are concerned. I wonder sometimes if certain sections of the public fail to make the connection between an individual being herded like an animal by a gang of screaming scumbags with cameras and the picture of the understandably unhappy looking person,attached to the following day's tabloid BS.
For example, Rob and Kristen walking separately and with straight faces = They've had a row, when any rational person realises that 1.They're being blinded and having crap screamed at them when they've just stepped off a transatlantic flight and 2. Why the hell would they want to give these low lives a six figure payday?
I think your comment about policing yourself is spot on, I admit I look at the pictures but I try to do it on fansites so I'm not giving the tabloids hits and I don't buy any of the magazines that run stupid stories about any celebrity.It's a sad fact of life that as long as we are guilty of creating a demand for these pictures, the harrassment is going to continue. So while not being anywhere near perfect, I do try not to be part of the problem.

I said this earlier today, but I definitely feel there should be laws regarding the paps. As much as I love seeing pics of Rob and Kristen, it's not ok if those pics were obtained using the methods you've just described. As a fan, there's not a picture I need to see so badly that it could ever justify them having to endure this type of harassment. Like Angelica, I'm not perfect, but I do try not to become part of the problem, as well.

ReplyDeleteThe worst paps out there has to be the X17 gang...
Since you have been following them for ages you may remember the day Rob left for NY to film RM leaving Kristen with her mom, when he got to the airport the X17 pap said things that were just heinous about he and Kris just so that he could get a reaction.
Needless to say, anything that has the X17 tag has since been BANNED from yours truly.
But there lays the problem.
Most of the beautiful shots we've seen of our fav couple have been from 'off' work, like the ones you put in your post, that was taken here in Montreal when Kris was filming OTR. Then you get the invasive openly aggressive provoked ones that the bottom feeders live off of.
After what happened to Lady Di, Britain issued new laws regarding privacy and paps...can't they do the same in other parts of the world or must we wait until another 'tragedy' happens?
The sad part is that one day there will be someone that will try to push Rob over the edge...like you've mentioned '...while Robert easily ignores any slings and arrows

It appears to me that the directive from the heads of these agencies are to get the picture at any cost.....Employ whatever sleazy, dirty, morally abhorrent tactic you need to, but get that picture!
How many effing pictures do you need of a celebrity walking through a damn airport giving you the same stoic expression time after time?
When the celebrity doesn't give them "the shot" then it's it's the nasty insults, name calling in hopes off provoking the celebrity into given them that "money shot."
There needs to be some law where a celebrity should not have to be harassed (it is harassment) every time they arrive/depart an airport or go out for a date or simply an errand.
The least the paps could do is observe a respectable distance ( i know, i'm dreaming with that statement) and the law should be more aggressive in enforcing it.

The OTR trailer is AMAZING! I loved the atmosphere, the music, the cast, Sam's voice, everything! Judging by the trailer, and having read the book several times, it looks like Kristen totally nailed the part ;) Tom looks really good as Carlo Marx too! Can't wait :)
