Rob and Kristen- Personal Bugbear

I'm not sure why I put that smiley there.
He's backpedaling.
Something that happens a lot in this fandom.
But has no real relevance in this post.
At least today.

To be honest...
I'm not sure why I'm even writing at all today.

I feel a bit shitty.
You know how it is when you wake up with a headache.
And if you don't... I hate your guts.
And your pain-free brain.

I shouldn't be complaining...
I'm going 'up North' for the 4th of July.
Yes.
That is the view from our deck.
Kinda nice... right?
And yet...
Here I sit all crabby and grouchy.
Maybe because I'm a major procrastinator...
Oh hell.
I'm the fucking QUEEN of waiting until the last minute.
But its so damn hot out.
And I have so much shit to do.
And I have family and friends to coordinate...
And I'm just going to be a whiny bitch all day.
Sorry.

ANYWAY.
Let's talk about something pleasant.
Or let's not.

Since I'm feeling particularly bitchy
Let's talk about PET PEEVES... shall we?

Pet Peeve: a particular and often continual annoyance; personal bugbear:
a major or principal annoyance or complaint.

Yeah. I got a lot of those.

1. The word 'sheep' to describe people
who believe that Rob/Kristen are together.
Most people I know who are on the side of love and truth...
Don't need anyone to tell us what to think.
We came to that conclusion based on logic and fact.
Although I do agree there are a lot of sheep on both sides of this fandom...
It is misused most of the time.
Generalizations seldom tell the whole story.
It's kinda like hyena.
While there are plenty of the scavengers roaming
the halls looking for trouble...
It's not a blanket term.
It doesn't cover everyone.
Generalizations annoy me.

2. People who say Rob and Kristen are dating.

Rob and Kristen aren't "dating".
Sorry.
And before you write me an all caps SHOUTY email...
It's because I believe they are way beyond dating.
Way.
Beyond.
These two people don't just see each other on dates.
They fucking LIVE together.
They are in a loving, deeply committed relationship.
They are over and above the 'dinner and a movie' phase.
That's so 2009.
Robert and Kristen have been doing this for years now.
Years.
They share everything.
Homes, clothes... a dog.
Dating?
Please.
The only thing missing is that legal document...
Not that it really matters since they are married
in every way possible anyway.

3. People who believe something about me
that someone else told them.
Without ever talking to me... or knowing me.
It's like a game of telephone.

"Rose is really very nice"

"Rose hates rice? Why? I love rice!"

"Rose has lice? Disgusting! I knew she was gross!"

"Rose likes to roll the dice?
She's probably has a gambling addiction!"

"Rose is afraid of mice?
She's pathetic!"

You see where I'm going here?
Someone says something about something that
I supposedly said about something and then starts
taking the something I said and making it into
a completely different something...
That has no resemblance to the something
I originally was talking about.

Good.
I'm glad we got that settled.

4. I have a personal bugbear (oh I like that word now)
with people who think that Rob and Kristen
are like these perfect stepford celebrities.
They're not.
And really... would you really want them to be?
(B-O-R-I-N-G)

I love and adore Rob and Kristen.
I do.
I love them like I love the Beatles...
or how I love chocolate chip ice cream.
It's a fondness... an affection
They make me smile.
But I'm not IN love with them.
I'll let them deal with that part of it.

But my point is...
and I know I have a point here somewhere...
...

...

Oh yeah.
My point is I don't have to be enamored with
everything Rob and Kristen do and/or say.
For instance...
Rob hanging out with Justin Beiber.
Not gonna lie...
My first thought was... WHAT?
WHO?
And ended with WHY?
Or Kristen flipping off people.
I get it.
She will always do it.
She has every right to be pissed off
at those assholes.
And I don't blame her for her reaction.
But it just gives the Fringe
something to chew on...
You know?

I know I'm protective of Rob and Kristen...
And I'm not sure I even understand why.
But I hate that people take simple innocent things that they do
and twist them and use it as excuses to hate on them.

5. Rob and Kristen are an EPIC romance.
Really?
I kinda hate that word...
EPIC.
Do they love each other?
Of course they do.
But after all...
They are still just two people
who fell in love.
Let's leave the Epic up to them to decide...
OK?

6. People underestimate Tom Sturridge.
Not only is he classically handsome.
Smoldering blue eyes.
Lopsided smile that lights up his face.
And a voice that only adds to the heat of the day.
But one of my major pet peeves is when
people talk about Tom only in connection to someone else.
"Robert Pattinson's best friend..."
"Sienna Miller's boyfriend..."
"Kristen Stewart's co-star..."

See what I mean?
Tom doesn't need to lean on anyone.
Watch his movies.
He's really quite talented.
There is a vulnerable intensity about him.
He can be both sweet and menacing
with equal measure.
And he can look good doing it.

I guess...
I just wish people could see what I see.

This post is brought to you by bugbears.
I consider myself a bit of a wordsmith...
But I had to look up that one.

1. any source, real or imaginary, of needless fright or fear.
2. a persistent problem or source of annoyance.
3. Folklore . a goblin that eats up naughty children.

I'm starting to think that maybe we found
the true meaning of the Lunatic Fringe.
The fandom BugBears.

Final thought?
Nah.
I said enough for today.

I miss you Syd, Smitty and Gruff.
And Bart...
I absolutely adore you.

Until next time.

Bye for now

  1. BugBear...good word. Seems fitting for the crazies!

I do like that new banner pic too, its pretty damn sweet.

The view from your deck is nice! No escaping the city for me, I have to work all week.
Hope all of you celebrating this week have a very happy, relaxing and safe holiday! :)
I'll be at the D-Backs game on the 4th. Seeing fireworks after the game from the comfort of a seat and air conditioning sounded like a good idea to me!

  2. Yea lets leave the epic to them, just like they are married in everyway but on paper..really thats just as bad..I have no doubt they are to together..I believe they live together even..but I think no one knows how deep their love goes..a little or a lot..they will marry or not..they are the only ones who know these things.

  3. Feel better, Rose. I hope you have lots of time to relax & enjoy that beautiful lake view over the holiday. I agree w/your pet peeves, btw.

Groovie, Enjoy the game and fireworks. It sounds like a fun time!

    Love to all!

The getting ready to go in life, is time to reflect on the why should I, I'm just fine where I am?

But something draws us forth to the out-of-doors, where time and place already are and always have been. No headaches last, in that place of mind. Love ya, Rose.

Oh, and Tom is all you see, and we do too, like me and you, peeking through the stars in awe.

  8. Rose,
My guess is you were supposed to be packing. Thank you for procrastinating. Your view is beautiful. Hope you and your family have a fantastic 4th.
    DK,
I may have just missed you. Thank you for all the great tunes,as always. What are you up to for the 4th? Creating any fireworks?
    Freddie,
How wonderful to see that you stopped by and are OK. I hope the job, though challenging, is going well. Hope to see you here again soon.
I am heading for a 6AM bike ride with my sister-only way to beat the heat. I hope all of you amazing people-Rose,Smitty,Gruff,Syd,and all our Roselanders have a fun, safe 4th of July.

Just wanted to tell you how much I love your blog. It deals with all the peeves (and bugbears!) we all hate about this fandom...and all the things we love too. Thank you Rose <3

  10. Loved this post Rose...love that Rob and Kristen are in a committed relationship!

Headed out to our lake house also! Celebrating the 4th with family and friends.

Happy 4th to all Americans! Have a good one everyone!

  11. Good morning everyone. Rose love your new word Bugwear. LOL You have such a beautiful place to go to for the 4th, hope you have a fun filled time.

To those saying Rob and Kristen are dating that is a giant eyeroll comment. Next they'll be saying they're wearing each others class ring. These two are in love and committed and isn't that how all of us are that are in long term relationships. We're not just seeing that person everyday, we're with them in every aspect and we're putting our lives together to live our dream.

"Love is the same for a poor man or a King." We all love differently but it is still love.

Wishing all my fellow Americans a Happy 4th of July. Please say a prayer for our servicemen, Freedom often comes with a high price and I am forever humbled by the fact that they are willing to sacrifice their lives so that I may live mine. God Bless Them. God Bless all of you too.

  12. Morning all!

Freddie: So happy that you checked in. :) We were all so worried about you.
    ------------------
Liking the word Bugbear. A tactful description of the very overly invested.. :)

    Happy July 4th........ Be safe.

Have a great day and rest of week everyone.

  13. Hello everyone,

Great post, Rose!!! I hope you're feeling better today.

I agree with you on the "dating" thing. Thats the reason why, I prefer the use of the word "together" for Rob and Kristen.

This SO much --->"I hate that people take simple innocent things that they do
and twist them and use it as excuses to hate on them."

WAVES, Freddie, SO good to see you came back and that you are Ok!!!! You have been missed.
Oh, And I am not the biggest football fan, but I do like to see the national team play and was sad that they didn't make it. It would have been nice to win something for a change.

Happy Tuesday to all Roselanders and Rose, Smitty and Gruff, and Syd.

PS: Have a great time at the lake, with your family, Rose.

  14. Hey Rose and All -
    I loved this post.

Bugbear - love it. Didn't Boogie Man derive from this word? bugbear- boogiebear - boogie man. Anyway - scary, scary things, indeed.

Wish I were going to be with you guys that are heading to lovely spots for the 4th. Just here, in the heat. Blah.

Rob & Kristen - interesting how, after all this time, folks can still come up with simplistic, trivial terms to describe their relationship. They are a committed, loving couple, and like any normal, healthy couple - have individual lives as well as their life together. Let them live it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today and tomorrow, whether you're celebrating the 4th, or just celebrating life!

  15. Went back and checked the last post & comments, and saw that you would like my recipe, DK!
(also saw that my last post wasn't there - I think when I send posts here from my Kindle, they go to Spam. Weird. Anyway, it was just thanking you for the Clapton!)

    Cinnamon Cream Cheese Breakfast Bars

    For the Cinnamon filling:
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    pinch of salt

    For the Cream Cheese Bars
    2 cans refrigerated Crescent rolls
2 (8 ounce) packages of cream cheese (can use Neufchatel), softened
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
additional sugar, for topping (I used cinnamon sugar)

    For the Cinnamon Filling:
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add brown sugar and cook until sugar and butter are well combined, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Whisk in egg, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

    For the Cream Cheese Bars:
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 X 13 casserole dish.

Roll out 1 can of crescent roll dough and place in the bottom of the casserole dish to form a crust, making sure to press the seams together.

With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese, egg, sugar, and vanilla until well combined. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust with a rubber spatula. Pour the cinnamon filling over the cream cheese mixture and spread evenly (I used a silicone pastry brush).

Roll out the remaining can of crescent roll dough onto a large sheet of wax paper. Pat out the dough to form a 9 X 13 inch rectangle, carefully pressing the seams together to seal. Gently flip the wax paper/dough over the cinammon cream cheese filling to form a top crust.

Bake for 30 minutes until top is golden. Remove from the oven and dust with the additional sugar. Cut into squares -serve warm or room temperature. You can make the recipe a day ahead and refrigerate overnight, then bake - OR freeze cooked bars and thaw before eating.

This may sound involved, but it literally took me 15-20 minutes to prepare, I refrigerated it overnight, and popped it in the oven the next morning - easy peasy.

  17. Happy Tuesday Roseland! Hope everyone is doing well.

Rose- Sorry you are feeling like crap. May you have safe travels and a great time at the lake.

Love your thoughts as always. Sometimes this ~fandom feels like high school and it gets old. Wish they'd graduate and join the rest of us adults who enjoy supporting Rob, Kristen and Tom in their endeavors while living our own lives.

I see that Rob and Kristen have been confirmed for CC. It's bittersweet since this one is the last one for the saga. Excited to see what is said from the panel.

Super and LitMom- Those recipes sound delish! I'm making a copy of them to try in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Freddie- It's good to see that you are okay even if bogged down with life. I hope things ease up for you and you are able to pop by more.

Happy 4th to my fellow Americans!! Have fun and be safe on this patriotic holiday!

To all else wishing you a wonderful start to your week! Cheers!

  19. Hi Everyone :)

Rose - I'm convinced that 90% of the stupidity that's tweeted or whatever is,in truth, less about Rob and Kristen and more about a coven or two of stupid women who weren't part of the "cool" set at school, trying to make up for it now by spouting crap to a few even bigger idiots who are so desparate to belong that they go along with any old BS. As always, Rob and Kristen just happily get on with their lives, completely oblivious ot it all.

Freddie - It was good to hear from you. Sorry things are a bit stresful for you at the moment.

Hope all of you US ladies have a great 4th July!!

  20. Angelica, you are so wise! I wish insecure fans didn't let that "coven" bother them so much. I'm sure they just love it when they can make RK fans unhappy.

    James Cagney (1942):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7mEC-vAewg&feature=fvwrel

    There's a feeling comes a-stealing,
And it sets my brain a-reeling,
When I listen to the music
    Of a military band.

    Every tune like "Yankee Doodle"
Simply sets me off my noodle,
    It's that patriotic something
    That no one can understand.
    ---------------
"Way down south, in the land of cotton,"
    Melody untiring,
    Its so inspiring.
    ---------------
Hurrah! Hurrah! We'll join the jubilee!
And that's going some, for the Yankees, by gum!
Red, white and blue, I am for you!
Honest, you're a grand old flag!
    ---------------
    You're a grand old flag,
    You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
    ---------------
    You're the emblem of
    The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
    ---------------
    Ev'ry heart beats true
    Under Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
    ---------------
But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
    -------------------
    Rally 'round the flag,
Let us rally 'round the flag.....

We took the Red from the flame of dawn, the dawn of a new nation.

And the White was the white of the snow at Valley Forge.

The Blue was the blue of the free open sky.

And the stars were the thirteen sisters by the sea who built their home, and called it Liberty.

    To symbolize our spirit --

    Right!

    The spirit of freedom --

    Right again!

    The spirit that gave birth
    To American democracy

    That's the spirit!

    My country tis of thee,
    Sweet land of Liberty,
    Of thee we sing...

    Thank you/classicvinylbiz

    HAPPY JULY 4TH!!!!!!!!

My company is gone. I made the Banana Split Cake...omg:

I am stuffed...lol...Hubs is taking a nap so I am watching BD..I haven't had the luxury for awhile. I guess it's the Margaritas, but I'm mellowed out and almost sappy watching the first part of this movie..yes, I know I won't be sappy for long...lol

ROSE...BUGBEAR....perfect...Now we can lump all those other names into "one"... Ninnies, Nonnies, Nonstens, hyenas, miserable people, Huffalumps( Winnie the Pooh)???...anyway, you get the drift....

OK...I am now at Isle Esme so I must be going!!!!

Mr Dottie and I just got home from friends' pool party/cook out and now we're trying to decide if we want to hit another party later for fireworks. I've had too much good food and drink already & wouldnt mind just staying put! It's been thundering off and on so the decision might be made for us.

  40. Hi Super your meal sure was more impressive than my cookout...Cheeseburgers, potato salad and Macaroni Salad..LOL I made your dessert and wow I made the Banana Split Cake. OMG Ladies you have to make this, there aren't enough words to say how good it is. so OMG is about the perfect word to use.

Dottie take Em's advice and go to the party. Fireworks are always fun. For the past three years we have a front porch view of our firework show...our neighbors always put on a spectacular show across the river from us. I don't know which is more fun the fireworks or the police flying by with their sirens blasting enroute to see who has the illegal fireworks. LMAO So far they have never been caught.

I love holidays but I sure hate going to work the next day...is anyone here lucky enough to be off all week?

  43. Well, Roseland - Hope you're all having an amazing evening! We just got back from a celebration at a fellow teacher's home. Our little city has a July 4th "extravaganza" at the city park with a pretty impressive fireworks show - but oppressive crowds and killer heat. This friend lives a couple of blocks from the [ark - so we all gop to her house, bring a dish, and watch the fireworks from her driveway - perfect brew, great food, plenty of adult beverages - and no crowds and bad traffic.

Dottie - hope you partied hearty! Em - sounds like you and the boyfriend had fun!
Rose - I know you're enjoying your vacay at the lake!
Oneheart - sorry you have to go to work tomorrow! Sox was just lamenting about the same thing. Midweek holidays suck!

Hope this has been a fun day for all!

    It's time to move up
And to face what I feel, oohh

    This is your night,
Dancing free until the morning light
Together forever 'cause, this is your night
And everything is gonna be alright

Aww yeah, so in love with you
Aww yeah, it's too good to be true
Aww yeah, feelin' so brand-new, aww yeah

    Falls apart my love
    Then I'll still be here

And if the going gets too hard

  48. America The Beautiful

    Ray Charles:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRUjr8EVgBg

    Oh beautiful, for heroes proved,
    In liberating strife,
    Who more than self,
    Our country loved,
    And mercy more than life.

    America, America
    May God thy gold refine,
    Till all success be nobleness
    And every gain divined.

And you know when I was in school,
    We used to sing it
    Something like this, listen here:

    Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties,
    Above the fruited plain,

    But now wait a minute,
    I'm talking about
    America, sweet America,
    You know, God done shed
    His grace on thee.

He crowned thy good, yes he did, In a brotherhood,
    From sea to shining sea.
You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this

    America, I love you America,
    You see,
    My God he done shed
    His grace on thee,
And you oughta love him for it,

Cause he, he, he, he, crowned thy good
    He told me he would,
    With brotherhood,
    (From sea to shining sea).
Oh Lord, oh Lord, I thank you Lord
    (Shining sea)

    Thank you/cavettbiter

Take care of your foot! You're a sweetheart, thinking I'm so adorable.

    @Rhonda
You're welcome! Couldn't resist playing "America The Beautiful" twice, and could have posted so many more songs but tempered my zeal. After all, most folks know them by heart anyway.

When I was around Kristen's age, I felt the same about cut flowers vs. live/growing ones.

My first husband once bought me the most beautiful metal flowers sculpture as a gift. I had forgotten all about that (it's gone missing).

Kristen saying how she would marry someone who gave her one similar, jogged my memory and touched my heart, bringing back that fond remembrance.

What a lovely day this has been so far. Thanks, Ms Stewart!

Wishing everyone, fond past memories to be recalled and enjoyed, while making happy new ones!

    I Will Remember You

    Sarah McLachlan:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQtAOuBjysc

    I will remember you
    Will you remember me
Don't let your life pass you by
    Weep not for the memories

    Remember the good times
    That we had
I let them slip away from us
    When things got bad

How clearly I first saw you
    Smilin' in the sun
Want to feel your warmth upon me
I want to be the one

    I'm so tired but I can't sleep
    Standin' on the edge
    Of something much to deep

It's funny how we feel so much
But we cannot say a word
    We are screaming inside
    But we can't be heard

I'm so afraid to love you
    But more afraid to lose
    Clinging to a past
    That doesn't let me choose

    Once there was a darkness
    Deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had
    Oh you gave me life

    I will remember you
    Will you remember me
Don't let your life pass you by
    Weep not for the memories

    Thank you/TheForgottenDawn

  60. Poor Em! I bet the BF is as anxious to have you back in charge of the cooking again as you are.

DK, What a sweet memory! I much prefer my flowers out in the garden as well. Enjoy that delicious meal. Steak sounds yummy! I had chicken alfredo, salad, and a glass of white. Now I'm thinking we might need to grill some BEEF tomorrow. :)

  61. @Dottie
I also remember my mother saying, not to bring her flowers when she's gone.

That comment resulted in many a flower bush being lightly picked, by a little girl, for her mother, on the way home from school.

I never picked a lot, just a few, mostly lilacs during their season, for they were her favorites.

All things can be glorious gifts!

    ReplyDelete
  62. DK, Sweet memories! I picked violets for my mother. They grew wild in our backyard so at certain times of the yr there were always little bouquets in the kitchen windowsills.

Wishing you and all the rest a good night or good day, depending on location. xoxo

Well, I used to have a sweetheart
    But now I've got none
Since she's gone and left m
    I care not for one

Since she's gone and left me
    Contented I'll be
    For she loves another one
    Better than me

    Green grow the lilacs
    All sparkling with dew
    I'm lonely my darling
    Since partin' with you

    And by the next meeting
    I'll hope to prove true
    And change the green lilacs
To the red white and blue

    I passed my love's window
    Both early and late
The look that she gave me
    Made my heart ache

The look that she gave me
    Was hard for to see
    For she loves another one
    Better than me

I wrote my love a letter
    In rosy red lines
    She sent me an answer
    All twisted in twine

    Saying keep your love letters
    And I will keep mine
    Write to your sweetheart
    And I'll write to mine

Green grow the lilacs all sparkling
    With dew
    I'm lonely my darling
    Since partin' with you

    And by the next meeting
    I hope to prove true
    And change the green lilacs

  65. For Dottie's Mother

    Sweet Violets

    Dinah Shore:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtnLvrmyh3E

    Sweet violets
    Sweeter than the roses
Covered all over from head to toe
Covered all over with sweet violets

    There once was a farmer
    Who took a young miss
    In back of the barn
Where he gave her a lecture

On horses and chickens and eggs
And told her that she had
    Such beautiful manners that suited
    A girl of her charms

    A girl that he wanted
    To take in his
    Washing and ironing
    And then if she did

    They could get married
    And raise lots of
    Sweet violets
    Sweeter than the roses
Covered all over from head to toe
Covered all over with sweet violets

    The girl told the farmer
    That he'd better stop
    And she called her father
    And he called a taxi

That got there before very long
    'Cause some one
    Was doin' his little girl
    Right for a change
And so that's why he said

    If you marry her son
    You're better off single
'Cause it's always been my belief
Marriage will bring a man nothing

    But sweet violets
    Sweeter than the roses
Covered all over from head to toe
Covered all over with sweet violets

The farmer decided he wed anyway
    And started in planning
    For his wedding suit
    Which he purchased

    For only one buck
    But then he found out
    He was just out of
    Money

And so he got left in the lurch
    A standin' and waitin'
    In front of the
    End of the story

    Which just goes to show
    All a girl wants
    From a man is his

    Sweet violets
    Sweeter than the roses
Covered all over from head to toe
Covered all over with sweet violets
    Sweet violets

    Animal Collective:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY8WH8qgBLM

    A dancer who was high
In a field from a moment
Caught my breath on my way home

    Couldnt stop that spinning force
    I fell into you
    Everything drowns you to giggle
You are up with the flower
    And I care

So the dancer who gets wild
    To the deep reveling rhythm
But I am always away for weeks
That pass slow like mind gets lost

    Feeling envy for the kid
Who danced in spite of anything
And were out in the flowers
    And feel better

    If I could just
Leave my body for the night
    Then we could be dancing
    No more missing you

    While I am gone
    Then we could be dancing
    And you'd smile and say
    I like this song

And then ours would meet them
We will recognize nothing is wrong
And I wouldnt feel so selfish

I wont be this way very long
    To hold you in time
    To hold you in time

    And were dancing
    Early hours
    Drunken days finally ended

And the streets turn for pillowcase
    And I fumble
    All good
    Lie

    Then the ecstasy
    Turns the writhing light
    Through our windowpane

    Now I am gone
    I left flowers for you
    There

    Thank you/tillitcz

  73. Hi all and happy Friday. This week has flown by.

Ali Mac- I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacay with safe travels back to N.I.

DK- Thanks for all the patriotic tunes. How are the wedding plans going by the way?

Anyone follow Sydney on twitter? I know she's in Colorado and was wondering how she is with the wild fires.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! TTFN.

  74. Happy Friday, Roseland! Happy Weekend!

Em - hope your foot is better. Take care of it - keep it clean, stay off of it, and let that BF spoil you (even if he is annoying!).

DK - great nostalgic music, both patriotic and sweet. Thanks!

Saw Magic Mike today...meh. Think I'll go see Katy Perry on Sunday afternoon. Saw a preview for a Meryl Streep/Tommy Lee Jones/Steve Carrell film that looks cute. No Gatsby preview today, though - bummer. The previews are my favorite!

    Love to all of you!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Litmom my sister and I went and seen Magic Mike last weekend and wow those guys can move. LOL We only had about six guys in the audience..definitely a chick flick. Channing use to be a male stripper as I'm sure you know, and from his moves in this movie I bet he was a good one. LOL A great girls night out movie.

DK thanks for sharing your memories of your metal flower...a girl as sweet as you deserves flowers in every way they are created. You and Dottie made me tear up with your flower stories and your moms...It made me think of my mom...wow when they are gone you sure do miss them. She loved flowers and especially African Violets. Not that I needed anything to make me think of my mom but thanks for reminding me of her love for Violets...such nice memories.

Em I'm new here and haven't talked to you but I hope your foot gets better soon. I'm sure you don't let nothing keep her down for long. Love your stories you share with everyone. You put a smile on my face. I bet you are fun to hang out with.

Hi to Rhonda and Super and all the rest of you ladies...I sure am glad it's the weekend. The patients at work this week were kind of grouchy for lack of a better word...almost like it was a full moon. However alot of them have been without electricity since last Friday due to the big storm, I guess that would make anyone irritable. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  76. Litmom I also went and seen Tyler Perry's new movie Witness Protection...Madea is as funny as ever...Every time I see Madea it reminds me of a lady I use to work with...no one messed with her either. LOL

Katy's new movie looks like it would be upbeat and fun. I love her music. I agree with you I think Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones in Hope Springs also looks like it would be good. Especially for those of us who are starting to have a little age on us. LOL Did I say that? LMAO Also anytime Steve Carell's in a movie it is usually going to be funny, can you imagine him as their counselor.

Oneheart & Rhonda - the theatre was about half full: nearly ALL women (2 men). It would be accurate to say that we were definitely having a good time! And Channing's backside was absolutely a nice sight.

Oneheart, in the preview for Hope Springs- when they mention their age - I thought "What??? That's MY age! I look/act WAY younger then that! (In my mind, maybe...)

Flower talk - my mom's favorites were Irises & Canna lilies. And she loved Spirea. She carried Spirea branches when she got married. I had Tiger Lilies and my daughter had Hydrangeas & Peonies.

Super it's a small world and when you are from the South with our southern hospitality it gets even smaller. LOL I love the Carolinas...Myrtle Beach is one of my favorite vacation spots. We are planning on going in September..can't wait!!! I've always said my idea home would have the ocean at my back door and my front door looking out on the beautiful mountains. A girl can dream. LOL

Em glad you're better...Well your old man as you described him must be a special guy if you have decided to spend your life with him. As long as a person has a twinkle in their wrinkle age doesn't matter.

Rhonda yes the storyline in Magic Mike was weak...and it seemed it ended abruptly. I agree spending time with friends and my time with my sister was the best. Funny how at a movie like Magic Mike all the ladies in the movie theater were bestest friends, at least we were. LOL

It's hot here today too..wow the storms we have been getting this week have been strong. Nothing like the one they got in Smoky Mts. Thursday..I have a friend who was there and he got caught out in Cades Cove. He said trees started falling all around them. One fell on top of a corvette. He said he drove down into one of the fields to get away from the tree lined loop that runs through the cove. Everyone else followed him. He said it happened around 5 p.m. and they finally got out of the cove at around Midnight. Gatlinburg got hit with the storm as well.

DK- Dress shopping sounds like fun! Will look forward to hearing your thoughts on what you find.

Since y'all were talking movies I have to add that I saw "Rock of Ages" and thought it was great. Pleasantly surprised at how good Tom Cruise was singing-wise. If you like 80's music it's worth a viewing. Next on my list is Moonrise Kingdom. I love quirky so it looks interesting.

  98. Hi Melinda, Happy belated Birthday to you!! I hope it was a good one :) xx

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hi Leni, Melinda and Ali Mac thanks for making me feel welcomed. I have found during my journey through the fandom that there are truly some wonderful people and you ladies here are among the nice ones. Bear with me as I get to know each of you. I'm not afraid to say I'm sorry or laugh at myself so if I say anything that is wrong please call me out on it. You will find that I am a people person and I seldom meet a stranger, I hope I don't come across as being forward.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Melinda I haven't seen Rock of Ages yet but I would love to. I love 80's music and wow we had some big hair back then. LOL When I see the previews of that movie with Alec Baldwin it cracks me up. So funny!!

Has anyone seen Abe Lincoln the Vampire Hunter? My husband refuses to go see it...he loves History and I think he must think it is sacrilegious to go...Just kidding, well maybe not. LMAO

He loved Snow White and The Huntsman. We went and seen it several times together and we would like to go again before it leaves the theater here. He's so funny, he doesn't mind doing a remake of Snow White but don't mess with Abe. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oneheart - I haven't seen Vampire Hunter, but I think I'm going to see Rock of Ages.
My bf also loved SWATH.. I went with him to see it for the first time and when I went with my best friend to see it for the second time, he asked if he can come along too LOL

    ReplyDelete
  102. Leni I think it was a guy movie too..the times we went there were just as many guys as women. I know lots of couples like us who have went more than several times to see it. I know it is listed on my husbands list of must have movies when it comes out on DVD.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yes definitely - everytime that I went to see it, there were just as many guys as there were women :)

  105. Super- I have really felt for you during this heat wave. It's been really hot here, but nothing like you've had to endure....plus you have that awful humidity :(

Oneheart & Melinda- I love Cades Cove, it's right in my back door :)

Em- your bf sounds really sweet. I think you've got a keeper :)

Hi Leni, Dottie, Ali and anyone else who's popped in today. I hope you all are having a good weekend...

    ReplyDelete
  106. Rhonda you are so lucky to live so close to Cades Cove. I live 2 1/2 hours from Pigeon Forge, it makes it easy to take quick day trips or weekend trips there frequently. I never get tired of the mountains...funny since I live near the Blue Ridge Parkway and am nestled in the middle of the mountains. LOL

I was just telling my husband yesterday that we were going to have to head that way soon. We went in May but that's way too long. LOL

I've been wanting to go in the Titantic Museum in Pigeon Forge have you been there? You know what our favorite thing to do in Pigeon Forge is...don't laugh!!! The Comedy Barn. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  107. It's so nice to read all about the different posters here, where they live, and what's going on in their lives!

    @Em

    ReplyDelete
  108. LOL DK I am glad I can liven something up because with the heat and temperatures around a 100 or more I feel the life has been sucked right out of me. LMAO

  111. @Oneheart
I don't see you lacking anything, before, during or after, whatever life brings to you. Rave on!

Been reading all about healthcare reform for the US, for several hours, so maybe the heat has rattled my brains more than before. Can't be sure.

Going swimming later this afternoon, and then out to eat, since it's Sunday, and doing so, sounds like Sunday doings to me.

Blessings for all, awake or asleep.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Goodmorning everyone,

Melinda, Happy Belated Birthday!! I hope you had a great day. :)

    Happy Sunday to all!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Hi everyone. Thought I would let you that the heat finally broke here yesterday. Hope it does the same for all of you suffering this sweltering weather!
    DK,
Aren't you glad you have that pool. Tackling healthcare reform? If you figure it out, please enlighten me. So confusing.
    Em,
Congratulations on the engagement. Lucky girl to have found the one!
    Rose,
I will bet this has been a perfect time to be on the lake.
    Smitty, Gruff and Syd,
I hope all is right in your world.
    Have a great day Roseland!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Morning all,

Oneheart- yes, I've been to the Titantic Museum, but not the Comedy Barn. No worries, I won't laugh at you for going there...it's very popular with tourist. I guess because I live so close, I try and avoid that stuff (and the traffic) as much as possible ;)

Hugs to all the regs. Hope you all have a great Sunday...

    ReplyDelete
  115. Hi Everyone, I hope you're having a good weekend.

  117. Hey Roseland! Happy Sunday!

I hope to goodness this posts. Computer troubles have hit our Casablanca - BOTH my work laptop AND our brand new PC crashed in the past 2 days, so I'm down to my phone & Kindle. Grrrr.

Rhonda and Oneheart - I have never been to Pigeon Forge or Cades Cove, can you believe? And neither is that far from me. Maybe a Fall weekend trip is in order.

DK - glad you think we're lively!
Em - Congrats. If you need any help planning a wedding - been there! I'm sure we gave a few experts around here!

Hope things are swell (and not sweltering) for all - including Rose on vacay, Smitty, Gruff, Syd, & that lovely lady!

  131. Hi everyone..Em congratulations on your engagement. Everyone is right it's your wedding day have it the way you vision it to be.

Congratulations to Tom and Sienna we all have been waiting for this day. So happy for them.

Dottie you little sap you are worse than me. Make a grown girl cry.

Litmom I hope you get your computers fixed sooner than later. I depend on you girlfriend to share things with over at Pinterest. LOL

DK we need some celebration songs....Get the party started...Oh where are my manners..Please.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Litmom you are quite the wedding planner and party thrower..I think you really should consider going into that line of work when you retire from teaching, or perhaps do it on the side. You are too good of a teacher to retire. The school systems are lucky when they get teachers like you. Those of us who know you are blessed when we have you as a friend as well. Ah shucks I'm getting all mushy. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  133. Dottie LMAO you have drew me out of lurkdom with that post....you are really feeling the power of love tonight. Like Oneheart said you'd make a grown girl cry with that photo...I think I need to post the link to this pic that will make you smile rather than want to cry, brings back some good memories of Dottie Jr. LOL

Em I love reading your post and just want to say even though I haven't talked to you congratulations and hope your wedding is all you ever dreamed of.

Congratulations to Tom and Sienna on the arrival of their baby. I'm sure it is going to be spoiled rotten and loved very very much.

Hi to everyone here at Roseland...You may not know me but I feel like I know all of you.

    For Baby

    John Denver:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR7iFfmPPS4

I'll walk in the rain by your side,
    I'll cling to the warmth
    Of your tiny hand.

    I'll do anything
    To help you understand,
    I'll love you more
    Than anybody can.

    And the wind will whisper
    Your name to me,
    Little birds will sing
    Along in time,

    The leaves will bow down
    When you walk by,
    And morning bells
    Will chime.

    I'll be there
    When you're feeling down,
    To kiss away the tears
    If you cry.

    I'll share with you
    All the happiness I've found,
    A reflection of the love
    In your eyes.

    And I'll sing you
    The songs of the rainbow,
    Whisper of the joy
    That is mine.

    The leaves will bow down
    When you walk by,
    And
    Morning bells will chime.

    Thank you/darink198

  139. Big hello and shout out to all the regs! :)
And Rose, hope you enjoyed your time away from it all over the holiday week.

Also see we have some new posters blowing up the comments section lol

Em- Engaged huh? Congrats to u girl!

I hope Tom, Sienna and baby are doing well and that they are healthy and happy!

This weekend was far too short and busy! I saw Joan Jett on Friday, worked on Saturday and also got a new car. I'm going to spend the rest of the night being lazy; hope u are all well!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hi Meadow welcome... I'm glad you stopped by now I'm not the newbie anymore. LOL That pic always reminds me of Dottie and fun times. Thanks for the memories. LOL

Hi Groovie...Now I really feel like I talk too much. DK and Dottie can vouch that I'm talkative. LOL Looking forward to talking to you.

Wow a new car and Joan Jett in one weekend...doesn't get any better than that. I love the smell of a new car. Nothing like it.

Litmom I have this thing about words not spelled right and I think you do too. I deleted a comment yesterday because of one mispelled word, I am going to have to do better and just let it slide..I don't think the world will come to an end if I mispell one word occasionally or maybe two. Darn OCD....LOL

    Natalie Merchant:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zpYFAzhAZY

    Doctors have come
    From distant cities
    Just to see me

    Stand over my bed
    Disbelieving
    What they're seeing

They say I must be one
    Of the wonders
    Of god's own creation
And as far as they can
    See they can offer
    No explanation

    Newspapers ask intimate questions
    Want confessions
    They reach into my head
To steal the glory of my story

    They say I must be
    One of the wonders
    Of god's own creation
And as far as they can see
    They can offer
    No explanation

    O, I believe
    Fate smiled and destiny
Laughed as she came to my cradle
Know this child will be able

Laughed as my body she lifted
Know this child will be gifted
    With love, with patience
    And with faith
    She'll make her way

    People see me
I'm a challenge to your balance
    I'm over your heads
How I confound you and astound you

To know I must be one of the wonders
    Of god's own creation
And as far as you can see
    You can offer me
    No explanation

    O, I believe
    Fate smiled and destiny
Laughed as she came to my cradle
Know this child will be able
Laughed as she came to my mother

Know this child will not suffer
Laughed as my body she lifted
Know this child will be gifted
    With love, with patience
    And with faith
    She'll make her way

    Giles, Giles & Fripp (1968):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMPWZWr5DQk

Count the sand within the glass
You watch the grains of time
    Slip past
    A million written words
    Don't help your peace

    You're not the first
    You're not the last
You're just an actor in the cast
    From one to maybe
    Half a hundred years

    What do you hear
When the words are not clear
    Blow your own way
And you'll hear what I say
    Make it today

    Superficial games you play
    To seek sensations everyway
    And in the maze
    You're running round and round

If you look with open eyes
    You'll see the truth
    You'll know the lies
    So climb the skies
    To where the rainbow's found

    What do you hear
When the words are not clear
    Blow your own way
And you'll hear what I say
    Make it today

Free yourself and you will find
    There's peace of heart
    And peace of mind
Both on the narrow stony road
    You run

You will see that black is white
    And nothing's wrong
    That is not right
    And love is everything
    Beneath the sun

    Thank you/betolagua

Finally a cooler day around here ....It was brutal here weather wise, as it was in many parts of the country.

Congratulations to Tom Sturridge and Sienna Miller on the birth of their baby and that all we know so far is that the little one is here.

Melinda: Happy belated birthday . I remember quite a few of us here have July as our birthday month.

Annie- glad it's cooler for you and some others today. Hope it lasts; I'm sick of staying inside, but I melt when I venture out. Grits won' t even go out!

    DK- thanks for the tunes!
