Kristen to Rob- I Will Follow You

I will follow Him
Follow Him wherever He may go,
And near Him, I always will be
For nothing can keep me away,
He is my destiny.

I will follow Him,
Ever since He touched my heart I knew,
There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love.

I love Him, I love Him, I love Him,
And where He goes,
I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow.
he'll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
from now until forever, forever, forever

 I will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever He may go,
There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love...

We will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever He may go,
There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep us away, away from His love...

I love Him
(Oh yes I love Him)
I'll follow
(I'm gonna follow)
True love
(He'll always be my true, true love)
Forever
(Now until forever)
I love Him, I love Him, I love Him,
And where He goes,
I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow,
He'll always be my true love,
My true love, my true love,
From now until forever,
Forever, forever...

There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love

  1. Happy Sunday...
    And Hi Rose.

I love today's song by Peggy March, one of my all time favorite songs..I'm showing my age..lol. I also loved yesterday's song too, the perfect songs for this perfect couple.
While I was reading the words to the song, I was actully singing it and enjoying the pics that you posted with it.
Another GREAT Post Rose, thank you.
They will both "follow each other" won't they... twirl...

Perhaps our talented Dreamer will post the song for us.

  5. I love, love, love that song. My parents had that 45 rpm single. I used to sing it as a child all the time. Yes, I am old. 51 to be exact. You just made me cry. But that's ok. Missing my father very much. Went to the cemetery today after church. This song will be in my head the rest of the day.

I dont' post here often (but read all your posts), so Merry Christmas Rose and to all the amazing R&K fans. Have a blessed holiday and wish everyone great things for next year. I have 4 wonderful things to look forward to next year after a very sucky 2010. Lee MacDougall's show in NYC on 2/25, Water for Elephants, Bel Ami, and Breaking Dawn part 1. Enough said.

    Try To Remember

    Harry Belafonte/Samual McKelton duet:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J917N2EJlU

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh
    so mellow.

Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.

Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.

Try to remember and if you remember
    then follow
    follow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
When no one wept except the willow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
When dreams were kept beside your pillow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
When love was an ember about to billow.

Try to remember and if you remember
    then follow
    follow.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
Although you know the snow will follow.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
Without a hurt the heart will hollow.

    Deep in December
    it's nice to remember
The fire of September that made you mellow.

Deep in December our hearts should remember and follow
    follow

    Thank you/DrDreAdam

    Ingredients

    For stuffing
1 cup chopped mushrooms (about 1/4 pound)
    3 tablespoons minced onion
    2 tablespoons minced celery ribs
1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley leaves
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 pound scallops, chopped, or lump crabmeat, picked over
    1/2 cup chicken broth
32 Ritz crackers (about two thirds of a 12-ounce package), crushed into coarse crumbs

18 jumbo shrimp (about 2 pounds), shelled, leaving tail and connecting shell segment intact
    2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    1/4 teaspoon paprika

    Preparation
Preheat oven to 375°F. and butter a large baking dish.

    Make stuffing:
In a large heavy skillet cook mushrooms, onion, celery, garlic, and parsley in butter over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until softened and liquid mushrooms give off is evaporated. Add scallops or crabmeat and cook over moderately high heat, stirring, 3 minutes. Stir in broth and cracker crumbs and remove skillet from heat.

Angelica, I'll cross my fingers and hope that the weather in the UK improves so that your husband makes it home safely.

Rhonda, glad to hear that your weather is better. In terms of next week, it looks like I still have some things to finish up at work before vacation can officially begin - but this is pretty much the norm. I should be done in a day or so, then I hit the road home.

Off to Home Depot. Talk to you later.

  28. I want to thank everyone who posted recipes for the Epic Virtual Cookie Exchange.

Since we're all getting ready to plan our holiday meal, I wondered if you'd like to share what you usually have for Christmas Dinner.

My family always has prime rib with twice baked potatoes, cranberry relish, and, of course, green bean casserole.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok I'm offended that my security word is Dentist...

My family has a weird dinner, we're usually sick of the normal stuff by the time Christmas rolls around so we have:

Fried Chicken, Mashed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, hot rolls, gravy..olives, stuffed Celery and deviled eggs.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Friends!!

Great post today Rose....as always, you make me smile. Seeing Rob and Kristen happy makes me smile too!

    Christmas Dinner traditions include....

Christmas Eve...(I know this will sound weird)...mini natural casing hot dogs with Greek sauce and steamed buns, macaroni salad and potato salad:) (btw we are not Greek)

Christmas Day....turkey dinner with all the trimmings!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Believe,

That is an unusual Christmas eve dinner but it's yours so own it.

I forgot to add that we always have to have the salad that we call Ambrosia which has mandarin oranges, pineapple, coconut, mini marshmallows and sour cream. Dessert is creme de menthe parfaits and cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Penny, my mom used to make that salad and it's so good

    ReplyDelete
  33. I believe my husband's family always has Burritos on Christmas Eve. So your's sounds normal lol

    ReplyDelete
  34. We normally have pizza on Christmas Eve since I'm usually too busy baking to make anything else. Christmas Day we have a roast dinner with beef and lamd usually, since no one likes turkey very much :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi PL!!! My Dad actually started the weird Christmas Eve dinner tradition and just like Thanksgiving, he does all the cooking and won't let anyone in the kitchen....we all get clean up!

Kami's stuffed shrimp inspired me to pull out my Shrimp Scampi recipe....this is our traditional New Year's Eve dinner. We eat it over angel hair pasta.

    Shrimp Scampi

2 lbs. large raw deveined shrimp
    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1 tsp salt
    6 cloves garlic, crushed
    1/4 cup chopped parsley
    2 tsp grated lemon peel
    2 tbs lemon juice
    6 wedges lemon

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Remove shrimp from shells, devein; wash under running cold water, drain on paper towels. Melt butter in 9 x 13 baking dish in oven. Add salt, garlic 1 tsp parsley and mix well. Arrange shirmp in single layer in baking dish. Bake uncovered for 5 minutes. Turn shrimp. Sprinkle with lemon peel, lemon juice and remaining parsley. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until tender.

    ReplyDelete
  36. IB thank you! I love Shrimp Scampi and my recipe isn't as good as I'd like! Going to try your's

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Kami!! *waves*

Once you get everything for the recipe prepared, it it so easy to put together!!! It is delicious and comes out of the oven piping hot!! I usually serve crusty bread too:)

Hope your holiday preps are going well!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Believe,

That shrimp scampi sounds really good. I've always been afraid to cook shrimp because I don't know when it's done.

That reminds me, did the nuns ever tell you not to say "I'm done"? They said done refers to meat and we should always say "I'm finished".

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Everyone,

Rose that is one of your best post so far. I loved the pics and the song was so fitting!

Freddie..so glad your vacation is close. I know your really excited to see your family.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ahh...I know what you mean about the cooking thing. When the shrimp is done (hee hee) it will turn pink. I always stick to the cooking time on this recipe bc if you overcook shirmp they get tough and rubbery.

I don't remember the nuns and "the I'm done" thing but they did make use use "can" and "may" correctly...you always use "may" when asking for permission.

I have a great recipe for belgian waffles and I do "the whole shabang"...get the family to help me and it's good and easy since we eat all the "heavy" stuff on xmas day with the other relatives.

So sad that I can't eat your wonderful shrimp dishes made from those great recipes.

Shellfish, are "swellfish" in my system and it isn't worth dying for, I keep telling myself!

There is some consolation in having eaten so much shellfish in my lifetime, that I was about to be put on the shellish endangerers list, and banned from eating it anyway. Tee, hee, hee.

Thanks for the pleasure of how good those dishes sound, and I'll pass them to my kiddos.

Did anyone else spend the weekend feeling a bit like a chicken with its head cut off?? Yikes! I am finally feeling like things might be under control......even if they aren't, I'm stopping for the night to watch the rest of the Packer game.

Christmas Dinner - We really don't have a set, traditional dinner.....depends on who is doing the hosting. This year Christmas Eve will be chili and the bigger Christmas Day meal will be prime rib, potatoes, asparagus, rolls and I don't know what else yet.

I hope everyone has a good night and a wonderful day tomorrow - looks like more snow to add to our white Christmas here.

    Sweet dreams Roselanders! :)

It’s by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done
To be so in love with you and so alone

Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me

Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say you’ll follow me

It’s long been on my mind
You know it’s been a long, long time

I’ve tried to find the way that I can make you understand
The way I feel about you and just how much I need you

To be there where I can talk to you
When there’s no one else around

Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me

Follow me up and down all the way and all around
Take my hand and say you’ll follow me

You see I’d like to share my life with you
And show you things I’ve seen
Places that I’m going to places where I’ve been

To have you there beside me and never be alone
And all the time that you’re with me
    We will be at home

Follow me where I go what I do and who I know
Make it part of you to be a part of me

  55. Poems, Prayers And Promises

    John Denver-Wildlife Fund Concert
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7P8pPYSXhk&NR=1

    I've been lately thinking
    About my life's time
    All the things I've done
    And how it's been

    And I can't help believing
    In my own mind
I know I'm gonna hate to see it end

I've seen a lot of sunshine
    Slept out in the rain
Spent a night or two all on my own

    I've known my lady's pleasures
    Had myself some friends
And spent a night or two in my own home

And I have to say it now
It's been a good life all in all
    It's really fine
To have a chance to hang around

And lie there by the fire
    And watch the evening tire
While all my friends and my old lady
Sit and pass the pipe around

And talk of poems and prayers and promises
And things that we believe in

How sweet it is to love someone
How right it is to care
How long it's been since yesterday

    And what about tomorrow
    And what about our dreams
And all the memories we share

The days they pass so quickly now
    Nights are seldom long
And time around me whispers when it's cold

    The changes somehow frighten me
    Still I have to smile
It turns me on to think of growing old

For though my life's been good to me
There's still so much to do
So many things my mind has never known

I'd like to raise a family
    I'd like to sail away
And dance across the mountains on the moon

I have to say it now
It's been a good life all in all
    It's really fine
To have the chance to hang around

And lie there by the fire
    And watch the evening tire
While all my friends and my old lady
Sit and watch the sun go down

And talk of poems and prayers and promises
And things that we believe in

How sweet it is to love someone
How right it is to care

How long it's been since yesterday
    What about tomorrow

    What about our dreams
And all the memories we share

    Don't throw this time away

    Enya
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wacyMhxIOd0&feature=related

    How I remember sleepless nights
When we would read by candlelight,
    And on the windowpane outside
A new world made of snow.

    A million feathers falling down,
A million stars that touch the ground,
So many secrets to be found
    Amid the falling snow.

    Maybe I am falling down.
Tell me should I touch the ground?
    Maybe I won't make a sound
    In the darkness all around.

The silence of a winter's night
    Brings memories I hold inside;
    Remembering a blue moonlight
    Upon the fallen snow.

    Maybe I am falling down.
Tell me should I touch the ground?
    Maybe I won't make sound
    In the darkness all around.

I close my window to the night.
I leave the sky her tears of white.
And all is lit by candlelight
    Amid the falling snow.

    Thank you/runner157

  60. Today, I shoppped at a Farm & Fleet store and found myself very enchanted with the CG/CG (City Girl/Country Girl) brand of womens clothing.

There were brightly colored, good quality t-shirts, sweatshirts, blouses, and jackets, with horses, farm and various rural scenes on them.

Certainly, I am not a country-type of girl (too bad though) and yet, I almost bought one with horses, they were so beautifully depicted.
    Thinking about going back tomorrow.

However, there were two knit shirts, also that brand, Paris and New York, which I may have to have to give me some New Year inspiration.

Those are two special places that I have never been, which are calling me, and have for years.

To not live in the past, but the present makes sense, but maybe I can plan, a little, into the future for 2011, and get to those places.

It would be lovely to meet other Roselanders in either place. Or we could travel there together.

    Anyone game?

What can I have as tribute to Paris? I'll check my liquor stash and see what's what.

It is delightful to have a cocktail after 1 am, on a Sunday!

I remember when we did nothing on Sundays (except watch sports on television)as most everything was closed.

So the thought of doing something "not usually allowed", obviously, still thrills me a little.

Where are my late night friends with their suggestions and insults?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey, I know, I know, it is no longer Sunday, after all, so I am not being a little saucy (sauced) with a cocktail.

Now that I realize it is Monday, well, then that explains the urge, and we all know that you can't trust that day!

I'm free of the ties that bind (or would be if I believed in them).

  64. Ah, Sweet Mystery Of Life

    Mario Lanza, thrills us/listen:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dejj2693hCE&feature=fvst

    Ah! Sweet mystery of life
    At last I've found thee
Ah! I know at last the secret of it all.

All the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning
The burning hopes, the joy and idle tears that fall!

For 'tis love, and love alone, the world is seeking,
And 'tis love, and love alone, that can repay!

'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living
For it is love alone that rules for aye!

'Tis the answer, 'tis the end and all of living
For it is love alone that rules for aye!

    Thank you/Soltapaura

  65. For Gwen

    Go The Distance

    Michael Bolton/listen here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgEBBf3gDa4

I have often dreamed, of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome, would be waiting for me

Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying, this is where I'm meant to be

I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way, if I can be strong

I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you

And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat

It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart

Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms

I don't care how far, I can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

I will search the world, I will face its harms
Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

    Thank you/kulasisi08

Maybe you will get to see him for some modeling at the company.

Then, you will have the chance to flash your lovely eyes at him and who knows?

But if you'd like to get ahead in your life, then put him on hold and go to pastry school.

Or come here and visit me. Move to the USA.

  72. I'm just here converting oxygen into CO2....LOL

How are you this fine morn'?

I started to the board about 2 hrs. ago, but got a phone call, and you know how that goes...

  73. Hey Bells!

What's this I read on the comments---you fancy someone?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well, I tried to be polite and wait for you two to finish your convos but as usual, neither one came back to do so.

I was on the telephone most of the night, too, Bren, and up until one minute ago, was talking with my sister.

    Where are you, little stars?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I guess I'm not going to hear the story...

    Maybe Catwoman got her..LOL

I forget does your sis live in Chicago?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Am getting excited for the Thursday family dinner....at a decent restaurant in the town where I used to live.

It is the dinner that almost wasn't. Matter of fact, it was to be only four of us and now we may be hitting 10 or 12.

That happened because my bro. said to invite my kids, and then changed his mind. Then we thought of more family we'd like to see, and there you go.

He wants to pay for my sister and myself, so any others, well, he would want to pay for them, too.

After the invite list kept growing, it got out of the realm of realistic treating (paying) for by my bro.

No one wants him to pay, but he is proud and stubborn that way, and I could be peeved but that is not my way.

So, if we keep increasing the number of guests, we will free my bro. from paying and have a jolly old time with more of them.

You might remember that this is the brother who has the trick of using silent farting, to rid himself of people, and we don't want to invoke that part of him for this Christmas dinner, you understand.

    ReplyDelete
  77. @Bren
Sis lives right outside of Chicago, in a mixed Polish, Spanish, Euro neighborhood. And then there is Sis, French, Swede and Irish-just like me, but not really.

  81. @Gwen & Bren
    Exciting news for Dreamer!

She is going to inherit millions from her east coast family, if she can find them!

Back in 1963, the rich cousins came to Chicago to visit, and rented a whole floor of a motel and its pool, just for the family. It was heavenly and I fell (of course, wouldn't you) in love with my cousin Bobby.

Alas, we could not marry, as we were both too young, and it was illegal (wish I lived in the U.K.) so years have gone by, no news.

My sis (clever sis) may have found that very same, lovely, whom I loved, cousin, and for sure when she calls him, he will remember us, and put us into the will.

After all, they live near the Kennedys, so come on, folks, it's a sure thing.

I'll be so generous, when I have millions.

And, you Roselanders, and Smitty, Syd and Boris, who I have adopted, will be second in line to my family, so something good will come your way. Natch...

"Christmas makes you feel emotional, it brings about thoughts devotional.."

    ReplyDelete
  82. @Bren
I am so ready for Christmas, let's have it today!

No, I don't have any food or cookies but I don't care, let's just sing the carols, eat something, drink & toast, and the rest will take care of itself.

I wonder if you were talking about the mix of French, Swede & Irish or the neighborhood where Sis lives?

In any case, what an exciting story there is in both wonders.

Which do you want to know more about or is it time for your R. to come and fetch his B.?

    ReplyDelete
  83. DK,

I did want to mention something...
Remember the convo about Marlena (the age thing)in Water For Elephants....well, someone on another board posted she was suppose to be an older woman, I guess cuz of Reese) I knew she was suppose to be young... anyway I researched it today, went through the book...and where Marlena is talking to Jacob, she tells him she met August when she was seventeen, and he proposed on the third date...she packed a bag and went with him(something to that sort LOL)anyway, I remember thinking she was only suppose to be around 21, so something else in the book triggered that....it's just hard to find stuff, when it was read so long ago...but anyway I just wanted to make it clear ...

Maybe someone out there who is reading the book now, can shed some light on this...

    ReplyDelete
  84. @Bren
Or I could dish on the ancient family scandals, which are tres interesting, if anyone is awake, here, and willing to come out of lurking and tell Dreamer what song to play next!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I did mean the mix----so spill.

R isn't fetching anything, sillybilly....Do you think we're eighteen or what LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  86. @Bren
Hmmm, I got the impression that Marlena was a little older than Jacob, so maybe 23/25 but I don't believe it was given out in the book, other than the 17 years old when she married the husband, as you mentioned.

Why, does this matter? Let's see what Miss Reese can do with the role. She sure looked very youngish (20's) in the video I watched the other day.

    ReplyDelete
  87. @Bren
You are not fooling me, like you may fool the others here, especially those lurkers like G. who work with you and also, don't know any better.

Anyway, R would come and fetch B, not at eighteen, for you two would be joined at the hip 24-7 then, but now at ?? years old, because she must be torn away from Roseland, to pay serious romantic attention to him, and the inspiration would be R/K, of course, to create the passion that benefits R.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Just saying....youngish to you, doesn't mean youngish to me...

It's too late anyway, the movie is made...LOL

So go on with your story...

    ReplyDelete
  89. I am laughing so hard right now, all I can say say is..."It's Nice To Have A Dream".

    ReplyDelete
  90. @Bren
Just agreeing, youngish is as youngish does.

From on top of the hill (me, if you read my comments the other day) youngish would be you.

To you, youngish would be Gwen?

    ReplyDelete
  91. So funny, but true...

So how was Cassie's night out?

What ever happened to Bells, shouldn't it be close to quitting time?

    ReplyDelete
  92. @Bren
Alas, it is a sad story, the who's and what's about it!

The Swede side is simple: Smart Swedish young woman of 20 is teaching school in Wisconsin in 1913. Gorgeous, suave Frenchman arrives in town and seduces/marries her.
They move to Chicago where the work is. She is a seamstress now and he goes to Detroit to paint cars, with heavy lead based oil paint!

    French side:
French man from Quebec and his 6 siblings run away from the evil stepmother and settle in Minnesota. He checks out Wisconsin, marries and then after a couple of years, they meander south to Illinois, and other siblings move east to Boston (millionaires to be). He works in car plant with toxic materials and dies young after having 2 sons. One son later marries fabulous mother of Dreamer to be.

Irish side: Fabulous mother of Dreamer, comes from a 100% pure Irish family that came over and stayed on Ellis Isle, later settling in Illinois.

She is orphaned at 11 and passed between families until grown. Red haired Irish lass, meets extraordinary handsome Swede and marries him at 18 to get away from evil uncle.

Although miserable for many years, they create Dreamer, Bro and Sis, who are extraordinary themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Extraordinary indeed...

How sad, but so sweet of you to share...

Let's talk happy now...did you meet anyone interesting today?

    ReplyDelete
  94. @Bren
Cassie's night out? Oh, the hormones, energy and bitching?

She came home today to get ready for an early dinner at her father's with the bf present and accounted for.

Haven't seen her since. She doesn't work on Mondays.

The friends went their own ways, and didn't bother with me, as I told them to shut up (surprise is the essence of attack or anything surprising).

That surprised them into not complaining anymore or less, to me about my tres chic Lauren, red ruffled pj's, the state of my bedroom, computer, food/alcohol and such drivel which I ignored but did find tedious.

Too many women at age of 22, are too much for Dreamer to bear, all in one place, at the same time, and it is my place.

    ReplyDelete
  95. @Bren
Can you believe it? I didn't actually meet anyone interesting or not, today.

It was more like a clandestine meeting of eyes, minds with strangers who didn't know that I was interested in them.

    ReplyDelete
  96. @Bren
The would-be meetings can be talked about of course, as I did observe the waitress/cook, owner/order taker, busperson/actual man and I do have impressions I would share with you.

    ReplyDelete
  97. My brother and his family will be here on Wednesday, they always stay with us, but I'm thinking this year they will want to stay with mom (being she's alone) I don't know.. his kids are really close to mine...so they may split up..No one has said anything, so I'll just roll with the punches...

    ReplyDelete
  98. I know this is going to make me laugh...impressions plz...

    ReplyDelete
  99. @Bren
You have unknowingly alarmed me with the use of "roll with the punches" expression. Do you and your brother wrestle or fight as soon as you get together?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oh no, we are really close..he is super easy going... with a great personality...always happy..

I just meant "go with the flow" till I see what he is going to do...

All these old expressions, I got from mom..LOL

    ReplyDelete
  101. @Bren
It is a true fact (love that phrase) that Dreamer eats out at restaurants, alone, quite often.

She started doing so, after her bhf (best husband forever) left for retirement on Mars. She does have a bff, who is divorced and has never eaten alone at one, but that is not this story.

Had a taste for Chinese and a small place was nearby while I was out shopping for Xmas gifts but only bought a shirt for myself (another story). I went there.

The owner/order taker (O/O): He greeted me with a lovely smile and seated me.

Then, he never returned, oh, he never returned, and his fate is still unlearned (sorry, more song lyrics, not true, really).

Let me say though, that I could see him across the room and he was still smiling at me and everyone, even though he would put two calls on hold at a time, and I never did see him return to them.

No matter, people who showed up mistakenly thought they had placed orders over the phone, but O/O did not have them (why of course not) so he smiled (very lovely) as he told them they were wrong, and had the meals prepared right away.

    Next...

    ReplyDelete
  102. The waitress/cook (W/C):

While I was reading the menu and deciding what to order, I first saw the busperson/actual man behind the counter straight ahead of me (final story, next).

Suddenly, a woman appeared before me, looking quite agitated and breathless, and asked me for my order. She wrote it down and rushed away. Now this might not seem interesting, but the O/O was still smiling serenely and ignoring this woman, and she was totally frazzled for what reason?

I made a polite comment about her possibly cooking in the kitchen and serving, too, and she nodded but seemed embarrassed about what I said.

She and the O/O might be spouses or lovers, I don't know which, but behind the smile and the frazzle, there is a mystery.

True to course, she did not return either, and that's the last I saw of her, poor frazzled lady.

    Next...

    ReplyDelete
  103. The busperson/actual man (B/M:

As I said, I saw him across the room behind the counter, and he was present through much of my time there, unless the O/O was at the counter, then he took off.

Where he went, I can only guess! He would come back from somewhere, with a lovely, dreamy look upon his face, kind of a half smile, too and stare out at the dining room but at no one in particular.

He did notice me, and came to get my used dishes when I was finished with them (thanks Penny Lane for proper usuage, almost used "done with") but didn't really smile per se.

Each time he went somewhere else, he would come back and wash his hands all of the way up to the elbow, and dry them thoroughly.

This he did, maybe 4 times, while I ate and observed. Of course, the O/O was not present to witness that ritual as I was. And the W/C was not a witness either, only little me, I believe.

His dreamy looks and semi-satisifed aura were intriguing, for I swear I have never seen a B/M ever look so contented or as spacy, in all of my dining out experiences.

Usually, they rush or don't rush to pick up your plates, and don't look at you.

So, what was going on between this interesting trio? I have my thoughts but yours would be really fascinating. Care to share them?

    ReplyDelete
  104. @Bren
I don't know how old your mother is, so I will only say that her expression about the punches would match one mine would have used.

My madre came up through the Great Depression and she used many such expressions that made reference to boxing, or other sports that during that time, were a welcome distraction for the poor folks.

A "champeen" would roll with the punches (twists of fate) and go on to fight another day. I appreciate the steadfastness of that generation, to survive it as they did.

So, for no reason at all, I shared that bit with you, and am so glad that you and Bro are close, do not fight and are in the "flow".

Sounds so nice, and I am smiling a lovely, calm, tiny bit frazzled, dreamy and vacant smile at you, this very moment. What am I up to?

    ReplyDelete
  105. You are literally killing me, where do you find all these characters?

The hand washing would of been enough for me..LOL

The fact that you eat alone says it all, you have time to observe everything that is going on around you.

I'm with your friend, I have never or ever will eat in a restaurant alone...I have a friend so does it all the time, but she takes a book..

    ReplyDelete
  106. @Bren & Gwen
Lots of time and space have appeared and disappeared since your last remarks. That might be because I took a while writing my observations but rather I believe that R came to claim B and Gwen is home and trying to forget her love strife.

Another day, in the real world, for them and Dreamer...

Thinking is dangerous, but must be doing it as I am having thoughts. Time to goodbye?

    ReplyDelete
  107. sorry, I'm starting to mess up..

    I meant who does it.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Will you stop with that crazy talk...but I agree time to say good by.. tomorrow is a workday for me...vac is over...and I had planned on hitting the gym b4 work, but I just might sleep in...

so good night to Dreamer and Bells, wherever she is...

    Later.

    ReplyDelete
  109. @Bren
There was a time, in the beginning of dining out alone, that I took a book. But I missed so much good stuff while reading I learned. Now my book is before me, and the characters are alive, and sometimes I play a part, sometimes not.

Bars are another kind of experience and I had one the other day with H. the man who is to be auctioned off on NYE.

He was across the bar and barely said boo to me, when he came in (probably so he would not scare me).

As he was leaving an hour or so later, he came over and we talked about the auction. I asked if he was he still limiting himself to the 10 minutes of non-action for whomever won him.

    H. laughed and said he didn't know anymore, grabbed me close into a huge, tight hug and left.

Man, am I in some kind of trouble, or could I be if I let myself?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Ha, ha, Bren has left the stage and Dreamer is about to go.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PxTF2vgAmg

I've never met you, yet never doubt, dear
I can't forget you, I've thought you out, dear

I know your profile and I know the way you kiss,
Just the thing I miss on a night like this.

If dreams are made of imagination,
I'm not afraid of you, my creation,

Without a blush I give my lips to you to take,
Why should I quake? We're not awake...

    Isn't it romantic?
How I know your voice, a dream that can be heard,

    Isn't it romantic?
Can I help rejoice at each endearing word?

    Brought by a secret charm,
    Or by my heart's command--

You'll ride to me in armor,
    Just to kiss my hand.

    Isn't it romantic?
You will hear my call and bend your royal knee.

    Isn't it romantic?
You're so straight and tall and yet a slave to me.

    Sweet lover of my fancy,
Will you ever come to life perchance?
    Isn't it romance?
