Rob and Kristen- Candles in the Wind

Well... looky here...
Rob. Check.
Red striped polo. Check.
Walking. Check.
Smiling. Check.

All GOOD things.

The Rags and the Hags would have you believe
that Rob is enjoying his 'freedom' and is 'single'
Because... you know...
Rob going to another country for work
is something he has NEVER done before!!

Please.
How very predictable.

You would think by now...
People would realize that
Rob and Kristen know exactly what they are doing.
Everything works out.
It always does.

I think that the sane good side of the fandom should disregard and ignore
any Gossip Rag or Bitter Hag who routinely uses the following words.

Exit Strategy
PR
Lapdog/Poolboy
Ruth paid them off
Scandal
On/Off again
Rupert
Rupsten
Liberty
Home wrecker
Adulteress
Whore
Lesbian/Dyke
Damage Control
Breaking up/Broken up/On a Break
Mysterious Blonde
Single/Free
Epic Love

(I'm sure I've forgotten a few)

None of them have ever had any real significance.
No relevance.
Only Excuses.
Rationalizations. Bitter Jealousy.
There might have been a brief flickering moment...
But that is long OVER
Now the flame is strong and steady.

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset when the rain set in

Rob and Kristen are more determined than ever
to make their relationship work.
As always...
You can see Rob's resolve and certainty
all over his face.
And in his actions.

See... some people cling to 'exit strategy'
It makes an appearance every time Rob goes to work
And Kristen isn't with him.
But Rob had his chance... didn't he?
I mean...
If he had really wanted out
He had the perfect opportunity.
The perfect exit.
But no.
He REMAINS by her side.
In her life.

Choosing to be with her.
Choosing love.
Choosing Kristen.
Always Kristen.

There's a feeling of...
Permanency.
Continuity.
You don't love this long
This hard
This much
and just let it go.

And if anything?
Rob and Kristen are holding on tighter than ever.
So very close.
They are
Never.
Letting.
Go.

Keep your eyes on the horizon...
Good things.

This post is brought to you by acceptance.

Accept that Rob and Kristen
Always
End
Up
Together.

Accept that you can compare Kristen to
any other actress...
But that it won't change how
Robert feels about her
or affect their relationship.

Accept that there will always be
people who hate...
just for the sake of hating.
And will always be needy and insecure
and creating drama where none exists.

Accept that
Rob and Kristen
Will prove all the naysayers and haters wrong
once again.
They always do.

And accept
that I absolutely adore
Thomas Sturridge

Until next time.

Bye for now

Hello everyone.

Envy and psychosis are in Valeria DNA,and she could not be help even if you lock her up in the psychiatric ward.

@Ginger-hey,I can understand, why you're hesitant of sending the kids in school. With all the news about shootings everywhere.I'm scared just thinking about it.My friends that have little ones home school this kids and I can't blame them.

Silver Lining Playbook is actually good and I agree Bradley C is good in the movie and of course Robert D.

I'm watching MAMA when it comes out,I don't know if this is scarier than Sinister.

Thanks . It's one of the few good pics I've ever had taken. I usually have my eyes closed or I look like someone just pissed me off...lol....I will be changing it out soon for a classic R and K :)))))

PIST. I was tickled with your responses. Your " name" is an interesting one...and it can be used in all kinds of sentences..." I would like some PISTachio ice cream". " Werent you really PIST ( yes I know I'm not spelling it correctly...just playin around with it) when VALERIA flew by?". " I'm surprised GINGER didn't get PIST on when the guy flashed her the other day.". " I'm picking up my PISTol so I can join the posse.". Yep, I have too much time on my hands.

Hello to MARLEY, ALI MAC, and dear KENZZ..sorry I missed you!!!!!

Hi Robert,

My father has just been diagnosed with early stages of Parkinson's. I pray you will find something to relieve this process.

Super, your avi is gorgeous, and so are you!! You and your cute "play-on-Pist"...How about Valeria might need to see a theraPIST?

Pam, you're so right, but I guess they're only home with us for a few years in the scheme of things, so I won't begrudge her the famous Tim Tams! lol Acually, I'm looking forward to trying one, myself... Yum yum

tufenuf, I'm very sorry to hear the news about your Dad's diagnosis, I'm sure it's a frightening time for your family.. prayers being sent your way. Robert (and his experience) is such an inspiring example of someone who can encourage your hope & faith...

Shout out to those folks I've missed, haven't had time to check in recently (RL is currently good but crazy), but hope all of you are enjoying a happy and healthy start to your New Year...

Tuf, how old is your Dad? I don't know much about Parkinson's, only what I've heard on TV, etc. I guess the most "high-profile" person I've heard of is Michael J. Fox and he's amazing.

I've heard about some sort of surgery that they are doing but it might be experimental. I'm sure you and the family will be looking up everything you can find on the internet. I know I would be doing that also.

Hi Robert,

Have you ever tried traditional Chinese herbal medicine? It's probably not FDA approved, but it is up to the person.

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn20584-chinese-medicine-offers-new-parkinsons-treatments.html

True family story:

About 5 or six years ago, my uncle was diagnosed with liver disease. The doctor gave him eleven months to live. My aunt went to china town and bought a few thousand dollars worth of Chinese herbal medicine. This medicine was made to order directly from China. They made tea out of the herbs and my uncle kept drinking it daily. Well, he is alive now.

The medicine that doctors prescribe don't do anything.

Tonight, I made this for hubby and he loved it.

Coq Au Vin

Bona petite!

http://www.pbs.org/food/fresh-tastes/julia-child-coq-au-vin-recipe/

Ingredients

4 slices thick cut bacon
3 lbs chicken breasts and legs, skin on (two breasts and two drumsticks)
1 yellow onion, chopped
2 tsp minced garlic
2 bay leaves
1 sprig fresh rosemary, minced
2 cups red wine
2 cups chicken broth
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
10 oz sliced mushrooms
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp salt (or, to taste)

Directions

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Fry the bacon over medium heat in a dutch oven or large heavy-bottomed pot. After it’s fried, remove the bacon and place on paper towels to drain. Once cool, chop bacon and set aside. Keep the bacon grease in the pot.
Turn heat to high and place chicken, skin-side down in the pot. Sear chicken until golden brown on both sides, about eight minutes. Then, add the onions, garlic, bay leaves and rosemary. Continue sautéing until the onions begin to soften, about six minutes.
Add the chicken broth and red wine. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and let simmer for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, carefully remove the chicken from the pot and place in an oven-safe dish. Keep chicken warm in the oven while you work on the sauce.
Stir the flour and butter (butter should melt instantly in the pot) into the red wine sauce. Bring back up to a boil and stir constantly----sauce should be begin to thicken. Add mushrooms, chopped bacon, salt and pepper and continue cooking for 10-12 minutes. Keep in mind that the sauce will also thicken up a bit when it cools.
Place chicken back in sauce and serve with roasted potatoes, noodles or a big green salad.

Yield: 4 servings

We aren't huge TV watchers, my hubby and son are fans of The Walking Dead, Duck Dynasty, wrestling etc. I'm a fan of a couple comedies Raising Hope and Mike and Molly. For some reason we it takes us a while to discover a series like now my addiction is TRUE BLOOD but that's only because family members bought the first 4 seasons for me and hubby...we literally watched all of them non stop and now I'm dying for the next season on DVD to release since I don't get HBO.
We like Kevin B. and the previews for the show did look good, when we first seen it we thought it was a new movie he was in. One of my hubby's favorite movies is Death Sentence.

Holy,
I have The Following on DVR and have high hopes as I think Kevin Bacon is such a good actor.
Pisteou,
I loved Silver Linings. I haven't really seen Bradley in much other than the Hangover and thought he was very good. Jennifer, Deniro, Jackie, I loved all the characters and loved the ending. I am a sap.

I am working my way through all the Oscar nominees. I saw Zero Dark Thirty today and like it. You have to pay attention, but helped that the events are recent. I really am impressed with Jessica Chastain these days.
Lincoln was great especially if you like politics. DDL is fabulous. I still really loved Argo, edge of your seat!

Holy and Pam,
I was surprised that Jessica Chastain is in Mama. It looks very creepy. I have to watch those in my living room with a pillow.
Topaz,
The Coq Au Vin sounds delicious. Not exactly low cal, haha. My kids love bacon, so will have to give it a try.
OK, may try to snooze.

Did anyone watch the show The Taste last night on ABC - Interesting concept.

Featuring celebrity chefs Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey as mentors, the series debuts at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

ABC's new cooking competition series The Taste has created several multiplatform integration partnerships ahead of the show's Tuesday premiere.
ABC's integrated partnership with Hellmann's/Best Foods and Ford, along with producer Kinetic Content's trade-out partners -- Williams-Sonoma, Whole Foods Market, Alamos and Southwest Airlines -- will be featured in the show, which premieres at 8 p.m. with a two-hour episode.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have the support of such a distinctive group of advertising partners in season one of The Taste,” said Chris Coelen, founder of Kinetic and executive producer. “We believe our new series is a terrific platform for each of these brands to reach their marketing objectives with seamless integrations that will be experienced by our very passionate viewers who love all things food.”
The Taste features celebrity chefs Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey acting as mentors to the show's 16 contestants. They also will judge the competitors' dishes blind with no knowledge of who they could be sending home.

so here’s a little story …
as you all know, california is a melting pot of many, many races.
so i was talking to this one asian lady about different languages & its quirks.
she told me about this quirky word/syllable in her language …

in an elevator …
a guy from the same country the asian lady comes from is waiting as the elevator opens.
he says to the lady “ba-ba-ba?” and the lady answers “ba-ba-ba.”
& he rides down the elevator with her …
sounded like two sheep talking :)
but she says believe it or not, it was a perfectly lucid convo.

her explanation:
“baba” in her language means “down/downstairs”
and “bababa” is like a present participle – “going down.”
so the question: bababa? = “going down?”
and the reply: bababa = “going down”
which, in english, is a perfectly valid Q&A when we’re trying to catch the lift, right?
but to get a lot from so little … both fascinating & funny.

i promise there is a tie-in to this story & this blog – i’m not just randomly rambling again … which do happen a lot :)

so, i guess the story came to mind cos some people say so much with just a few words.
and some, a mouthful & still don’t say anything that matters.
the people we love here don’t say very much but when they do, it’s a lot – we only have to listen.
the trolls, haters, gossip-mongers … lots of noise but nothing of consequence.

good morning to everyone!

@Kami, sorry to hear about your acquaintance who got killed.
and all the shootings that are happening one after the other – i just can’t …

@Robert, hope you’re feeling much better after the passing of your friend.

@ali, hi – hope you’re still having fun with the snow :)

to all those freezing their butts in the cold, bundle up.
i fly to new england later & not looking forward to it.

Mary said...

Quick stop in before I head out to brave the frigid snowy weather. A week ago I was bemoaning no snow this year. Well, I sure got a big BAZINGA from Mother Nature.

Parker,
You are very astute and wise. Were you born an "old soul"?

Has anyone read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn? I am obsessed with this book. I would love to hear other's opinions. Maybe have a book club like discussion because this book is really resonating with me with the mind games and twists and... I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I would love to discuss with someone.

Kenzz said...

PL, I recently finished Gone Girl, interesting plot! I thought it started out a bit slow, but once it picked up speed, it was a fascinating and insightful take into that particular marriage...

ali mac said...

PARKER I loved what you had to say, and so true. It reminded me of my reaction to the Valeria's last comment, which was "bla bla bla". She comes here and all I hear is bla bla bla.

All my snow is gone, that's the way it goes over here, comes and goes in a few days.

PL I haven't read that book, I looked it up and it looks like a good read. I will put it on my list as I have a bit of trouble finding a book I really like. I have started so many and not finished them as I just can't get into them.

Kami said...

Topaz I am going to try the recipe soon, it looks delicious. I wish I could share our weather with those of you that in the dangerously cold areas. We're one of the places where it' not happening. We're in the 70s. While I love winter, that bitter cold you're all dealing with...no thanks...seriously wish I could share.

Annie, I did watch the Taste last night, well my husband was watching it, he said it was on when he turned on the tv so he thougth 'why not'. I actually like the concept of the show, it's a lot like the culinary version of The Voice in a way. I also found it interesting that the majority of people who have made it through to their Kitchens have been home cooks.

It may sound like the most unappealing treatment available, but a small new study has concluded that inserting fecal material from a healthy person into the gut of someone with severe diarrhea may cure their problem more effectively than antibiotics.

Hmmm...I'm pretty sure I just witnessed this practice on another site and it doesn't seem to be working. Now, I think they all have diarrhea. Needless to say, the door didn't get a chance to hit me in the ass on my way out.

Good Day Roseland! I'm just rambling but, happy to be here with the healthy. Guess that will teach me to not wander when I'm bored.

PL-Thanks for the info. Guess I'm gonna have to get a copy of Gone Girl.

Oh and someONE is having a birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Pistol, I remember an episode of Grey's where a husband had to donate 'matter' to his wife because she had compromised her system by taking antibiotics she bought online. I remember thinking at the time that I knew a lot of people who might benefit from that kind of treatment since they all seemed bot willingly swallow any crap they came across anyway.

PL I have finally given in, broken down and I have had "Girl Gone" delivered to my Kindle, because I have to read this now. You've peeked my interest.

Oneheart Happy birthday, I hope you have a wonderful Day.

PL it sounds like it would make a good movie. I wonder if Reese will star in it too. I am a big Reese fan.

Mary said...

Ewww! Who started that conversation? Hmm, should have known it was Ms. Pist.

Since you are talking about gross bodily functions, did you know if you are taking particularly strong antibiotics that it can kill off the natural bacteria in your body and the result will be diarrhea. To prevent this, start eating yogurt with Acidophillus in it and that will keep the natural bacteria active. Believe me, this is good to know.

Kami, Super, Ali, and Pist,
I can't wait until you read the book and we can have our own little book club discussion. I did mention I was obsessed with this book, didn't I?

ali mac said...

I'm going to check the library tomorrow for a copy, fingers crossed. It's not too obvious that your obsessed ha ha, its a good review for the book though, are you sure your not on the pay roll???

Kami said...

PL do you remember that episode of Grey's where the husband refuses to 'deliver the goods' so to speak, before his wife promises to stop obsessing about her health and taking medications she didn't need and when she refused he said "No Pooh for you!" I am amused by that episode and disgusted all at the same time. The think I would love to know is how the first person who was told "Alright this is what we're gonna do...we're gonna have your wife go pooh and then we're going to go get some of it and put it inside your stomach." GROSS.

PL I've never seen you like this over a book, which is why I HAVE to read it.

Kami said...

Oh Lord, I need to slow down when typing...that should be 'thing' not think...and the rest of the sentence should have been...I would love to see how the first person this solution was presented to reacted. I think I would have ran out of the hospital regardless of whether or not the back of my gown was open and showing my rear to the world. GROSS.

Mary said...

Kami,
I do not remember that episode, but you are right, who decides that something like that is a viable cure?

I know this book has taken a demonic possession of me or something and I really don't know why. I think it's the psychological aspect and the reasons behind people's actions which seem totally sane to them, but completely psychotic to others. And, like Kenzz said, it is a dissection of a marriage, how each side sees things totally differently.

Would you believe I still have 30 pages to go? Maybe I'll hate the ending and I'll come back and tell you it was the worst thing I ever read.

Kami said...

LOL I seriously doubt that you will hate the ending. By the way it just showed up on my kindle about 2 seconds ago, I have read the first page, so far, so good LOL.

@Ginger-how are you girl. What's the deal with the ninnies going on and on about Moscow being part of Australia?Because when I was reading that tweet I cannot stop laughing.

Ginger with a Soul said...

@Holy - waves - I have no words for their stupidity and what they put out there - the one that made fun of Kristen by saying you can't drive from London to Moscow needs a quick geography lesson, told how to use mapquest and to be told yes you can. The one that thought Moscow is in Australia - someones school system is need of something - I am terrified to know where her school was located as she is an adult.

Holy said...

@GingerI-what a shame cause some of this ninnies are old.

PamH said...

Hello everyone

@ Holy
My hubby and I watched The Following online today and it was great :)

@ Ginger
Isn't it amazing that these crazy people can use the Internet to bad mouth and hate on Kristen but haven't mastered how to google a map...LOL

The medical discussion made me think of my hubby saying who do you think was crazy enough to let doctors from early history try an amputation, transplant or taking out an organ to see if it would work.
The fecal thing makes me as green as watching a show were they put maggots on someone's wound...OHHHHHH

Now you've all peeked my interest in Gone Girl, will have to look that up on my reader.

Ginger with a Soul said...

@Pam - it is because they made some predictions that fell flat...again. So they are foaming at the mouth and most found out they are blocked on Twitter by a bunch of people and are crying that people are mean because they blocked them for no reason - Boo Hoo, shit I have all the ones bitching blocked too - if I want to watch crazy I am sure I can find a half assed reality show that is more entertaining then they are - at least it is not the same show on repeat every day. Oh yeah and people have been super sappy for the past couple of days with picture after picture going up - happy makes them mad and apparently stupid (we will roll with that excuse)!!!!

@PL, lol my friends do think of me that way.
“old soul” is not what they call me but “too serious & introspective.”
but i’m a study of contrast to them.
reflective one moment then utterly silly the next, laughing at almost anything.
my philosophies, taste in music/books/food don’t always mesh with my gen-Y besties.
in fact, they’d be surprised at how much i got involved in the fandom & my frequent visits to RPI lol.

and about gone girl, you just reminded me …
that’s one of the books i downloaded from the app store a few months ago cos the synopsis sounded interesting & it was in the NYTimes best seller list.
but still haven’t quite gotten to reading it, had downloaded so many that i still haven’t started.
i think i did skim through it & the beginning line about the head was i thought quite interesting.
i don’t know why i put it down.
will get to it soon & hope to join in your book club chat.

@ali, thanks, you know that’s why i was reminded of that story, when i saw your bla-bla-bla post :)

@Pisteuo, so gross but hey if the “matter” fits …
& looks like for those suckers, it does to a T.

Ginger with a Soul said...

@Holy - OMG don't look at the video of the girl everyone is talking about - I have been hearing it all day and finally someone said what she did - don't look I am not sure it will be something you will be able to erase. This is so not R/K related at all.

@Ginger, when you said braids & headphones, i had a vision of princess leia :)
must be cos i was watching a movie this weekend called spaceballs – a parody of star wars.
princess vespa had a princess-leia-like braided hair around her ears & turned out to be a headphone lol.

@Pam, your comment about googling reminds me of something …
don’t know if it’s still there cos these are what developers call “easter eggs” so they come & go.
but there was a time that if you ask google for directions from taiwan to china …
you get this routine driving directions but …
when you get to the coastline, the step would say something like “swim across the pacific ocean” or “jet ski over the pacific ocean” – so hilarious …
some google geeks having fun with the google maps :)
but for the folks you’re talking about though … i have no doubt they’ll try & swim that ocean …
and as they’re drowning, they’d still be wondering why … “but, but, the direction said to jump” …

Just finally had a chance to catch up on all the posts for today and can't stop smiling at most. I love this site and the people on it. I thought a good thing for Valeria might be to go to the asylum in American Horror Story. They would be more than glad to listen to her and take therapeutic action. I am unable to watch that TV show. Have tried, but too, too scary for me. Good luck there, Valeria!

Great post Rose.

Your posts always make me feel so calm, and remind me of what's real.

I had an acquaintance at work who liked Twilight, but she turned out to be one of the haters. Last time I saw her in the mailroom, I mentioned something about Rob, and she actually said to me, right out of the blue "They won't be together after the DVD is released." I thought "Wow, where did that come from?" Maybe it's just pure jealousy? She can't stand to see Rob with anyone?

Though, in the real world Rob looks relaxed & happy in Australia. Maybe there are no Paps in Adelaide? That would be nice. Looking forward to Rover.

All the pics from New Year's were so fun to see. I wish them both all the best in their lives.

It's fun and sometimes moving, to read all the conversations here in Roseland. Love & Peace to the Roseland family.

One quick question..since I'm new..who is Ruth?

Ginger with a Soul said...

@artemisluvv - Ruth is Kristen's publicist

Holy said...

@Ginger- I didn't watch that video, and thanks again for the warning.

Ginger with a Soul said...

@Holy - Hahahahahahaha - One of my friends at work asked why I was gagging - I mean I was gagging hard - and I told her what it was , after she freaked out she was like lets go tell our boss. So I went over and whispered in her ear and she screamed so loud that she hated me and why would I ever tell her about something like that and why in the hell would someone do that. That video puts that earlier shit talk to shame.

DreamerKind said...

Happy day!

What an interesting discussion today. Nature works in mysterious ways.

Unknown said...

Hey Ginger and Holy,

What video are you girls talking about? When someone says not to look, I do the opposite, ha ha. Ok, but if it's gross, just forget it.

Ali mac,

No, have not tried it with white wine yet. I'm not sure if the white will taste as good with mushrooms as with the red. It was my first time cooking it. Hubs ate up everything in the pot last night, I didn't get to eat it, but that's ok since he liked it so much. Another Julia Child dish I cooked for him a while back was Beef Bourgignon, and I recall the recipe called for white wine. Beef Bourgignon is a lot richer than coq au vin, and it takes like 4 hours to make. I will probably make coq au vin again, a different variation next time. Not sure if I will make Beef Bourgignon again, ha ha, drink a lot of wine with this one.

I have Julia Child's first ever collection of recipe books. Hubby got it for me a while back. It is very detailed and informative. She really teaches you so many things about French cooking. She even explains about the pots and pans, etc. Has anyone watched Julie and Julia? I loved that movie and so did hubs. I saw an interview of her once on youtube when she was in her eighties. Every fifteen minutes during the interview, she'd sip water out of a straw, and then continue talking, and I thought that was so cute. She died at the age of 91. This woman really lived an amazing life.

Unknown said...

Hey DK, feeling happy today? Oh, that rhymes...heehee.

Unknown said...

By the way, Meryl Streep should have won some kind of award for portraying Julia Child in Julie and Julia. She was excellent.

DreamerKind said...

@Topaz
Considering the opposite choice, I am.

Back in my day, I had Julia's original cookbooks and learned fine cooking from her recipes, especially using wine.

She made it all so much fun and the results, as your husband demonstrated, were delectable, delicious, down the hatch really fast!

Unknown said...

DK, I bet you're an awesome cook. I'm still learning. One time, I tried to cook a shrimp soup dish (using my own imagination) and it was a disaster. Now matter how I tried to fix it, it just didn't taste right. I was mad at myself because seafood is not cheap, and I came home from work feeling so hungry, and in the end, I didn't want to eat. I haven't cooked shrimp since. In fact, I stopped cooking for a few months after that, the desire was gone. But I am back to normal now.

DreamerKind said...

@Topaz
No, my cooking good days are behind me. Tonight was an oven baked organic chicken pot pie with a dessert of strawberry licorice sticks. Seafood can be tricky as you found. You are rediscovering other dishes. I am toying with a bit of acrylic painting now.

Unknown said...

Anonymous said...

DreamerKind..thank you for the welcome!

Just started coming here recently, just a few comments on this blog or a couple others. I really like the people here on Roseland.

I foolishly didn't see Twilight until this year for the first time. I should have known there was something amazing there because of all the fan devotion. Luckily, I was able to go to a Twilight marathon at our theater when BD2 came out. Read the books of course too.

I just fell in love with RP & KS, hard to explain why to anyone, but I can totally relate to Rose's blog and the comments made here so, so much.

And yikes the tampon girl...gross. The internet causes so much craziness! LOL!

Ginger with a Soul said...

@ artemisluvv - I guess some people will do anything for 15 minutes and in this case it was anything

Unknown said...

DK,

strawberry licorice, yummy!

hmmm, acrylic painting, never tried it.

Pencil and charcoal drawing? Have tried it one summer in college. I even drew naked models. One day in class, I had no idea what was to come, there was a platform in the middle of the classroom, and a man with a robe who stepped onto the platform and tossed away his robe, butt and front naked, posing all ways, my poor young eyes, I was shocked. And then the next day was a woman. But we drew all sorts of things. One day, I walked into class and saw my drawing posted at the front of the bulletin facing the class. When class started, I just kept staring at it wondering why it was up there and how bad it looked until my instructor had the class critique my drawing to raving reviews. I was so embarrassed and thought thank god he didn't say who it was that drew it. Anyway, on the last day of class, my two instructors did a final grade review with me and told me that I should really consider taking up a degree in Art. I laughed and said, really? because I didn't think I was good at all. I said not only do I lack talent, but I have a lazy hand, and that the only reason I took the class was to try and boost my cumulative GPA up. I have gotten As and Bs, but of all the classes I took, that was my only A++ grade, but I wasn't that happy about it. Maybe because I didn't try hard at all.

Robert and Litmom, I understand you are English professors?....

Unlike ARt, in English 101, I tried so hard, yet I never could get an A. Revised my paper so many times, and still can't get an A. Had an instructor that was so hard on grading, I couldn't wait to finish. When I found out I passed the class on the last day, and that I wouldn't have to anymore, I ran outside to the green quad and did multiple cartwheels, I was so happy to be over and done with Enlgish- with a concentration in critical reading! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unknown said...

Ginger,

Ok, Ewwwwww! Thinking about whether I should search for her on youtube now...Tampon Girl.

Artemisluvv,

yeah, aren't RP and KS fascinating? I think so too.....they are magical.

That is cool about Tom coming to Broadway. Just think people will be able to see him a lot if they want to.

Speaking of Tom Sturridge, I watched Waiting for Forever. His co-star used to be in a FOX show called The O.C. I forgot her name. But I watched the movie only halfway because I found it so boring. He is a good actor, but I didn't like the movie.

So this broadway show that he will be doing...I hope it comes to my neck of the woods. I will go watch it.

Saw a documentary last night about an artist from Tenn. who has brought a fresh new perspective to Pop Art-Wayne White:

http://waynewhiteart.com/index.php?/project/word-paintings/

He said true artists are very insecure about their art/talent, like he still is/you were.

I am very sure of mine, as it's only for my fun, and has no real talent involved. Stress-free me.

@artemis
Ah, it is a fantastic journey you are taking, and hanging along here with us quite a ride, too.

@Ginger
That television show about weird eats has hardened me I see, for I am not grossed out with TG, mostly bored with showoffs, trying to show off everywhere they can. I say to abhor, ignore.

I am in the process of reading Gone Girl, so I will give my 2 cents. It was a tad slow at the beginning, but I just hit my first "ah ha" moment. I have vacillated between liking and not liking the characters, but that is part of reading two perspectives. How true that people often misconstrue other's motives and all they would have to do is talk it out. But then.... bwahaha. More later.

The Aussie DJ's are nuts -- Rob will have to be hiding now for awhile and might have to move around from hotel to hotel like he used to do in LA. If they've started filming we might not see him anytime soon.

Prison Escape
A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom.
While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: "Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain.....do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!"
His wife responds:
"He wasn't kissing my neck - he was whispering in my ear. He told me that he's gay, he thinks you're cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him It was in the bathroom. Be strong. I love you, too."

They never get a cold, oh no, it's a sinus infection. It's never a simple skin rash, but an allergic reaction to something.

And my very mature, adult husband wants to see all the fairy tale movies. I'm sick to death of fairy tales being made into movies. And of course, it's always a "darker redition". And don't anyone jump at me because this isn't a reflection on Kristen in any way.

PL. Haha. I just read your comment. I am reading a short book I found by accident on the Internet and downloaded it. It's called Have the Relationship you Want by ...hmmmm...I want to say her name is Rori Raye? Anway it explains how to have a mutually successful relationship with a man...Her basic premise...as I'm half way into it is that women are too dominating and we try to control everything in the relationship thereby that emasculates them...Men want to be the ones who take initiative and most of all they want to be respected, liked, and accepted!!!! Darn, I knew I have been going about this marriage thing all wrong...for almost 30 years...lol... I'm so glad to see your posts!!!!

The digital version of the book is 415 pages. I'm not sure how that translates to a hard copy. Maybe it's the same.

I read a review about Gone Girl about three months ago (?) in EW and thought I would like it. Glad to hear some have really liked it. Our libraries have it all checked out, even digital. I'm just going to order it on my Nook. I don't know if there are any Stephen King fans on this blog, but EW just ran article that he is releasing his first sequel ever and it is to The Shining. It's called Doctor Sleep and is to be released in September 2013. I remember when I first read The Shining. I devoured that book. Read it in three evenings. That bugs me the most that I read so fast so the experience doesn't last that long.

Kami, you asked "why reguarding Taylor S"? I'll tell you...it's the rabid fans interest and the media raking in the money...cause BullShit sells!!

Pisteuo said...

Sorry....that should have read "regarding".

I'm gonna go tape my fingers together now.

parker said...

just peeking in briefly …

@PL, looks like you made the top 10 list of most influential in Roseland lol.
& to borrow from oprah to rob, “would you rather” be most influential or most beautiful :)
am sure no one would hold you accountable regardless.

Kami said...

Pistol, you're completely right. I have no problem with Taylor S. I have a problem with the media talking endlessly about her new boyfriends. It has become endless speculation and frankly I think they need to lay off for a while so I agree.

No need to tape your fingers, but if you do and it works...let me know please, my brain works faster than my fingers and I tend to not proof read.

Kami said...

Parker...Nice. I can't wait to hear her answer.

Mary said...

Parker, you are too funny. And if you really knew me there would be no doubt what my answer would be, most beautiful, definitely.

A beautiful woman can influence just about anything she wants. And that may or may not be something that is discussed in "the book".

Kami said...

PL LOL. I KNEW you'd say that.

Mary said...

Oh, Kami, I did not even hesitate on that answer.

Kami said...

I ALMOST chimed in with "Please, she would choose beautiful because a pretty face gets more done" but I waited for you. lol

ali mac said...

It seems to me that sometimes being beautiful gives people influence, unjustly so.

Kami said...

You're right. Absolutely right. Of course as we both know PL uses hers for good and not evil. lol

ali mac said...

So true kami =)

Mary said...

Ali, Kami is so right. Those of us who are blessed with outward beauty have a responsibility to those less blessed. It's a cross but we must use the accolades we receive towards the betterment of mankind. And that is a big LOL!!!

Will you go to this show?

Hello, Roselanders! Having a good talk I see.

@Pist
Hi chica!

Kami said...

PL LOL

Birdie said...

Well, I finished it. Couldn't put it down after the "ah ha" moment. Very interesting twists in this book. No spoilers, so I will withold comment until those of you reading are done.
PL,
Do you think Reese is planning on playing Amy? It would certainly be a different role for her.

DK,
How exciting for Tom! It sounds very good and wouldn't it be fun to see?

@PL, lol … you are after all a kindred spirit of rob :)

@ali, i think it could go both ways.
influential people are powerful & can make you think they’re beautiful :)

Robert said...

okay ladies i gotta say being the only guy around here to comment on a regular basis....between "tampon girl" and taylor swift's love life, i'm kinda scratching my head a little...but i'm not saying that i'm not entertained

o by the way, i started reading "the great gatsby again. haven't read it since graduate school, but i remember thinking it was damn near the perfect novel

Kami said...

LOL Robert no worries we are all scratching our heads over Taylor's love life and why it's always in the news. lol

Mary said...

Birdie,

When I read about Reese's producing I hoped she wouldn't want to star in it. I can't see it. I guess it depends on how old they want to make the characters because they could easily go a little younger if they wanted. So depending on how old Nick is I envision either Angelina Jolie or Scarlet Johannson. I see someone who can be sweet or icy.

ali mac said...

@Parker, the old wolves in sheeps clothing !!

Birdie said...

I see what you are saying, but am afraid I will give something away if I say anymore. Hurry up and read this book, ladies!

Goodnight ladies and gents xx

Freddie said...

Hey ladies, how is everyone?

Kenzz said...

Freddie, (waves)!!!

We never seem to meet up here. How's work, life, everything??

Freddie said...

Kenzz!!! Great to see you.

I'm good, thanks. Busy with work but it keeps me out of the poolhall. LOL. I'm just back into town after meetings so I'm glad for the chance to stop in.

How are you? I saw you mention that cheer is going well. What else is new with you guys? I hope all is well.

Mary said...

Freddie!

So good to "see" you around here. Are you going to join the Roseland book club? LOL

Kenzz,

How are you doing? Are you having the frigid temps like I am? I saw a photo of some fountain in NY that had frozen over. It's crazy.

Freddie said...

PL - great to see you too. I would absolutely love to join the Roseland book club. Is Gone Girl the current title we're all reading?

Kenzz said...

Freddie, things are good... Cheer is probably IB, but I hope its going well for her and her daughter...

Glad you're staying out of the poolhalls... bad crowd, as my grandmother evidently used to tell my Dad (not that he says he listened!!)

Hope your meetings were productive... How's the weather at home? Were looking to get up to 0 this week as the heat wave rolls though LOL...

Son had eye surgery recently, and came through with flying colors... tough kid! We've just procured an ATV wheelchair for him... this is one rugged off-road beast! Can't wait to have him take it to the beach this summer, but we've made a couple of trips through icy slushy terrain last wekend, and it's pretty impressive!

Freddie said...

PL - so you guys are still in the deep freeze? It was -13 with a wind chill in Montreal this morning. I'm back home now to a balmy 14 degrees. If you're still in the cold, then it's heading our way. Oh yay!! Not!

Kenzz said...

PL:

FRIGID is putting it mildly!

Am interested in hearing the thoughts about Gone Girl... I'm still on the fence as to whether I enjoyed it or not, but I know it's stayed with me, so that says something for it!

Mary said...

Freddie, Yes, the book is Gone Girl.

Birdie and I have finished it and we are chomping at the bit to discuss. Like we've said, once you reach the OMG point it's hard to put down and there are quite a few OMG points.

Freddie said...

Oh Kenzz - so sorry I mixed that up. My brain is not working - but yes, I'm glad cheer is going well for IB also. LOL.

I'm so glad your sons surgery went well. Whenever it involves the eye I always worry and feel squeamish. He truly is a tough, not to mention brave guy. That's great about the wheelchair. It must make mobility easier and it sounds safer, which I'm sure you appreciate.

It sounds like we're all in the deep freeze.

Kenzz said...

Freddie & PL,
Can't wait for Spring!

Freddie said...

PL - I'll see if I can get the book today or this weekend and get started on it. You have me intrigued with the OMG's.

By the way, what happened to all the pecans?

DreamerKind said...

@Birdie
Yes, it would be great fun.

@Robert
Gatsby! I feel the same, time for me to reread. Best to y'all.

Okay, so I was wondering what to fix for dinner...so, I was thinking how much I liked French Toast so, I got out an egg and poured myself a glass of red wine.
I cracked the egg in a shallow bowl and beat in some half&half and a dash of salt and pepper. Then soaked a slice of 15 grain bread in the mixture. I then got out a medium sized iron skillet and drizzled some evoo(extra virgin olive oil) into it with a pat of butter on med. heat and cooked the bread for about 3 mins. on both sides and put it in the 200 degree pre heated oven to stay warm while I made a sauce to pour over it. So, I added another pat of butter to the skillet and sauteed about a half cup of chopped onions, then added about 4 small chopped baby bella mushrooms and cooked them for about 3 mins. Then added a dash of the red wine I was drinking. Then added about 3 tbs. of cream cheese and stirred until dissolved and poured it over the toast and added a spring salad mix mixed with spinach and feta cheese crumbles and a big drizzle of creamy balsamic vinaigrette dressing as a side dish and another fresh glass of red wine. Yummm.
Honestly, it didn't look all that great...but, it taste good. And for dessert I'm having another glass of red wine and a left over brownie from a few nights ago.

Kami said...

You have to come up with a name for your masterpiece French Toast Pist. I would have never thought about using Red Wine, but sometimes the best meals are those born out of 'what in the hell do I want for dinner?'

Kami said...

I love savory takes on sweet meals I might have to try that, it sounds good

DreamerKind said...

@Pist
French toast and red wine, are favorites of mine. Never thought to combine them with such healthy and tasty ingredients. Good show, thanks.

Freddie said...

It's been nice to see so many people around the past little bit. In my earliest post I meant to say hello to Kami, Super, Birdie, ali mac, DK, Katy, Pisteuo, Kay, Annie, Robert, Topaz, Ginger, One Heart, LIZ, marley, Holy, tuff, beaculen, Pam H and anyone else that I've missed.

Has anyone heard from Hope? I hope she is well.

Mary said...

Freddie,

I shelled at least 10 lbs, probably more, got tired of them and gave the rest away.

Pist,

When you said french toast and then wine I thought, what are they smoking? But that was quite creative.

Kenzz,
It was -2 when I woke up, crawled it's way to a heatwave of 21 and now I think it's about 10. It's pretty but enough is enough.

Your son is a tough young man. It will serve him well. You deserve to be proud.

DreamerKind said...

@Freddie
It's like Canada, here in Chicago, and I believe we need some freeze to kill the rampant germs around.

@Kenzz
I saw your son on the ATV on FB, and he looked so proud of himself, really delighted.

@Kami
Bet you are a terrific cook!

Freddie said...

Kami, DK, Pisteuo - Hey ladies!

Pisteuo - I am totally impressed. And here I am eating garden variety barbeque chicken home delivery. You sure know your way around a kitchen.

Pisteuo said...

Hey there Kenzz, PL, DK, Freddie, Super, Birdie, Robert and anyone else I missed while cooking.

Have a great evening Roseland!!
HUGS!!

Freddie said...

DK - you always have a way of looking on the bright side of things. In our case, we must be germ free by now. By the way, how are the weddings coming?
