General observation on oscars...
The hollywood academe AIMED for a SUPERBOWL-high RATING. And thought that targeting the general audience's taste of entertainment is the RIGHT FORMULA. Hence the LAMBASTING of the populars. The MUSICALS were great. They shouldve stuck with that. The ELITES of the critics instead cheapened the show with "FUNNY" jabs straight from RAGSHITS headlies.
I think that the MISERY of others shouldnt be made as joke. We are still HUMANS last time i checked.

@Tuf - I want to tell them to grow up but they are grown which makes this more disturbing. They want to pick and pick and pick at her - the reality is none and I mean none of them will ever be with him so they should step back and check themselves because bullies usually stem from people that have severe self esteem issues themselves. The ones being the loudest would never put up a real picture of themselves because they know people would tear them to shreds yet they are the first to say something. Not everyone wants to fit the mold, not everyone wants to be like everyone else, people brave enough to be what they want in a world that tries to force you to conform should be applauded and ridiculed. It is disgusting that other women are the first to tear another woman down and wonder why we don't get treated like equals.

Kristen was just FLAWLESS last night!!! She was a swan princess! In my opinion, this was the best dress she's ever worn. She was like a swan bride, just breathtaking. Thank you all for sharing the lovely pics of her.

I'm guessing Kristen went home instead of doing the after party thing, her foot was probably killing her by the time it was over. Hope she didn't make her wound worse from walking on it.

@Topaz Emerald, well said. Focus on the positive. Glad we got Kristen & Eddie hugging, Kristen & JL hugging, Jamie Foxx taking a pic with Kristen & his daughter, Kristen sitting with the Lincoln group right behind Spielberg. That was great seating so we got glimpses of Kristen throughout the night.
Ben Affleck gave a great acceptance speech on how you pick yourself up after you fall and Kristen has come thru beautifully with flying colors. She has never said a bad word about anyone except the well-deservedly scumball pappz but it seems forgiveness, when there was nothing for us to forgive, is not in some people's DNA makeup.
She's really made of sturdy stuff, coz' I would have crawled under a rock by now. One day Kristen will have the last laugh and I hope we will all be here to witness it.

I didn't really have time to read all of your comments these last two days, but I'm sure everyone is excited for Kristen's Oscar appearence as well as for Rob's today's photo with a lucky fan.
Kristen was very beautiful last night and was very charming, even with an injured foot. Glass cuts are aweful and very painful, but she handled herself beautifully. I especially loved the smile that stayed in her face most of the night, it seems. She looks happy and she deserves it. That gawn was one of the best she has ever worn, but she has yet to wear something to beat, IMHO, the red dress and impecable hair in Cosmopolis premiere in Cannes. I guess she had a special reason to appear extra beautiful that night, to honor her man... I think that those talking negative about her only do it to cause a rival, which will lead to more comments written about them and more hits on their web sites. Kristen owns them. We know it and they know it.
Rob looked as handsome as usual. He's always so sweet with his fans and so polite. No wonder he made that girl blush. I think I would have fainted alltogether even by just thinking I was going to meet him, so blushing was a minor side-effect LOL. Since we already know his shooting ends in 2 or 3 weeks, I guess we'll see soon if Kristen finally visits him to spend some time there after Rob ends his work, though I don't think that's very probable, considering she's injured now and all that.
I'm sure in the years to come we will have the pleasure of watching Rob and Kristen walking together on the Red Carpet and getting nominated for some prestigious awards. I can't wait for this moment to come.

@ Rhonda S, that's an interesting article, and I think it's just too true... However, I don't know if it's just a female expectation. My husband isn't the most smiley person and in his work he's often been told by others, often women, to smile. It's makes him really angry, too.
I think we live in a culture that demands that everyone be happy all the time, or at least demands that we seem happy. People aren't comfortable with sadness, just ask someone who has gone through severe grief. Many people flee from you if you are sad, even for a very good reason. And heaven forbid you should struggle with actual depression! You're an outcast if people know that about you!
Though real people complain all the time, most people excuse this in themselves. They think if they had a better job, more money, better health, fixed certain problems, then they would be happy. They don't realized the problem lies in the heart, in being discontent, and those things are just things to blame, to target, as the reasons. Since they are very jealous of what other people have that seem successful, they see someone who has more and say, "How dare you not be happy?"
Kristen is particularly a magnet for this criticism because of her job in the public eye, it's true. But I think it's more than her reputation for smiling that is being criticized. She gives off an air of independence and not caring about what people think that drives media-types mad!
Another aspect is that she has now been "cast" by the media in the role of an angry, emo rebel, and now they'll continue to support the myth about her that they've created by choosing certain non -smiling pics to publish with stories, and cutting comments out of context or out and out making stuff up to fit their desired image of her.

Rhonda S., the lack of smiling has nothing to do with the hatred she gets. When it comes to Kristen, it boils down to pure jealousy. It doesn't help that she has extremely beautiful, yet fierce eyes that does intimidate others. People don't like to feel intimidated and this is what, I believe, she unconsciously does to people. Most people are too quick to judge without really knowing, but Robert didn't judge her, he had the patience to get to know her. Even he noticed her quietness and fierceness (there is video proof of him talking about this of her), yet he had the depth in him to overlook the surface and see the person inside. People who talk bad about her and exploit her have no depth of character. They are the problem, it is definitely not her!

It starts with a statement, then uses quotes from mags (one of which is pretty inflammatory), and then goes on to discuss a possible societal issue behind the criticism Kristen gets. The article itself is not criticizing Kristen at all, but rather criticizing society for having an expectation on women. I think it's an issue close to Rhonda S's heart because she experienced that kind of criticism herself.
I agree, Topaz, about the intimidation factor. I remember Rob saying something about that, too, like he was thinking about Kristen when he first knew her, "You're four years older than me! I can't possibly be intimidated by you!" or words to that effect.

@Arleen, I loved oven baked chicken. Just shake it in a plastic bag with flour, salt(garlic salt if you like), pepper, a little paprika and parsley and bake it for 25 minutes or so at 400 degrees on a pan sprayed with Pam. If you drizzle it with just a little olive oil, it's extra yummy!

@Holy - we got about a foot of snow but here that just means the sun comes out the next day and melts it all and we wait for the next storm which is supposed to some in tonight.
Perception is a nasty thing - I am not a smiler at all - it is not that I am unhappy, I am just not very emotional about things. I laugh at my kids being silly and with friends and family - I say hi to people as I walk by them but if you catch me just sitting there I have a very natural scowl on my face and people ask me all the time why I am mad which in turn annoys me. Once you get to know me you know the difference between my indifference face and my pissed off face. Too many people think if you are not bubbly or overly friendly there is "something" wrong with you.

Well Fashion Police lived up to my expectations. Joan Rivers trashed Kristen and George didn't like her hair. Only watched to see what Kelly had to say. So I immediately fired off a tweet to Joan and asked her how she would like it if her own granddaughter was being bashed? I know it won't do any good, but I feel better. Do not care for Guilliana's hair style, but if it works for her, it's her hair.

Just saw a funny ass scene of Tom Cruise, don't even know the name of the movie, but he half his hair tied up in a pony tail. This guy's career has been amazing box-office wise. An off -topic but this disturbed/angered me this morning when I read it......
The Onion a paper which specializes in parody/ satire sent out a tweet on Oscar night calling the nine year old nominated actress ftom Beast of the Southern Wild, Quvenzhane Wallis a c*nt......The tweet apparently was removed within an hour of being sent out but the backlash has been swift and unyielding.
The Onion was rightly made to aologize.........This is an example of how far down deep in the gutter media has fallen.
