And I have a Linda Ronstadt story (don't I ALWAYS have a story? I can't make these things up!).
My first year of teaching school ('79-'80), I got a part-time job in a jewelry store (Cartier boutique - woo woo) in a mall in Austin. One Saturday afternoon, a cute little thing came in with 2 big, ol' burly guys, and was shopping for some "gifts". I went in the back and told the other 2 employees that Linda Ronstadt was in the store - they looked out and said "That is NOT Linda Ronstadt" , and of course I insisted it was, since she was in concert in Austin that night. We went back and forth on this, - I went back and waited on her as she made her decision - and when she paid with her credit card, I had my proof. I never called her by name, or even hinted that I recognized her, and I think she appreciated that. She was so sweet, so tiny - no make-up, very casual and laid back (as you might imagine). The gifts were for staff at the event center where she was performing.
Some of my favorite singers are more Broadway singers that no one would recognize... Alice Ripley, Audra McDonald, Linda Eder, Judy Kuhn...
But I do love Adele, Sara Bareilles, Colbie Caillet, Norah Jones - a ton more. My mind is blank - and Sox wants to go to a movie...

@ litmom I am a huge Linda Ronstadt fan! I've seen her in concert twice. When I'm in the mood to have a brood I put on some Ronstadt and emote all over the house. I also like to sing and I've been known to actually attempt a few Ronstadt songs at karaoke bars. Not that I’m proud of it because my god no one can rock out to Poor Poor Pitiful Me like she can.
Robert, I'm also a big Joplin fan. My brother was much older than me and he saw JJ at Woodstock. I grew up listening to everything from The Beach Boys to The Doors; it was quite a diverse musical exposure! As for me, I am a child of the late 70’s early 80’s. I love all of the Classic Rockers as well as the Punk Rockers, the Hair Bands, and more recently, Indie music. My favorite band of all time is Queen. (Because Freddie Mercury was a genius and he could REALLY sing.) Hope you’re feeling better!

I love the avi !!!! It's always a dilemma what to fix for dinner. Last night I decided to make Jambalaya. I cut up chicken, a half of a kielbasa and some shrimp I sauted in olive oil and threw it in the pot...
Then I sautéed onion and garlic....threw it in the pot
then I added a drained and rinsed can of kidney beans
I added chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, 2 shakes of Texas Pete, one can of rotell, salt and pepper...
It was the best I've ever made...lol...
I never measure anything...this time it worked out.
I won't tell you about my mini disasters with baking. I have decided I can't bake ever again...it just ends up in the trash if I try to make cakes or brownies from scratch!!! ...even though I do measure with real measuring spoons...a disaster ...lol

Most of us here are over 30 years old or close to it, in jobs with some level of responsibility and yet reading some of the snide and snarky comments from the last few days, it makes me wonder just how mature some of us really are.
Having a laugh is one one thing but when it is pointed and nasty it reflects on the people delivering it more than it ever could on the people they are targeting.
I will just say that I am not mocking anyone with my comments, only myself since the girls thought it would be good fun to joke about me whilst I was asleep the other night.
You know what? I have been hanging out in Roseland since September of 2010. I started doing that because I found like-minded people here that appreciated Rob and Kristen and wanted to have some laughs with others that felt similarly.
I am mostly a peacemaker, I don't like confrontation and I think that I am usually respectful of others. We all obviously have different views, opinions, thoughts and styles. Coexisting in Roseland would be a hell of a lot more fun for EVERYONE than this bullshit, passive-aggressive pissing match for dominance and possession that this has become, FFS. There is enough of that crap in real life without having to deal with it here, too. Sure, there is always the "well, if you don't like it, don't stay" argument, but why should someone that is trying to get along and tolerate differences have to leave, instead of everyone trying to get along a little bit more?
Obviously, everyone is going to do what they want. I want to have fun in Roseland when I am here. Right now I need a donut and some caffeine, and maybe this crap wouldn't be irritating me so much.

The only thing I feel like addressing is this. I'm not mocking Rose, I never would here on her blog. I know what it's like having someone you love battle a terminal illness so I most certainly would not come over here and mock her. We CHOSE to find the "Clucking hen" comments funny. We found humor in them and when we come here and talk about the "Coop" we're NOT mocking Rose we're just playfully saying "Yeah we know we can cluck" THAT IS IT.
I came over here because I LIKE visiting with Pistol (sorry I can't call you Pist...sounds too much like "Psst come here a second" ) THAT is the gospel truth. I LIKE Pistol, I like talking to Pistol, I came and visited Pistol.
Lastly, I've made a lot of wonderful friends here in Roseland, people who still visit, and people who do not. REAL friends. I put a call out to my Roseland friends to ask that they send a post card or letter to Taylor who is 14 and going through CANCER for the second time...this time in her LUNGS...to help keep her spirits up and give her something to look forward to when she comes down here to MD ANDERSON for her treatment. EVERY SINGLE person, EVERY LAST ONE...from Roseland that I asked, not only sent letters, but card, post cards, and gifts for Taylor. Lifting her spirits and letting her know that she is cared about. I met these people here, why would I mock a place where I met such wonderful people or the woman who gave us the place where we met?
think what you will of me, but please never think I would ever mock Rose or Roseland.

This feels like a day off to me, if I were working a go-to job. Instead, I am having a here-it-is right now thing.
Got accepted for a condo rental, singing on the dotted tomorrow. Should I believe I'll be safe on dry land, looking at the parking lot? Had four lakes and miles of trees before, and it poofed. Safety is not always in the cards.
Found out I am staying at a hotel where peeps from all of the mundo are here for advanced cancer treatment. There is a proton therapy center nearby, and in other cities, too.

Twenty years ago, Fermilab had the only center in the US. It was experimental and a well keep secret at that time. Few could receive the benefits.
An old friend told a neighbor about it, pulled some strings and that therapy gave the neighbor a better quality of life for several years.
Well, let me just say that I have felt so much love around me that I am mindboggled in it.
Talk about being in the right place, at the right time. Thank you raging waters, and shouldas and oughtas.

Once I even wrote Rose a note asking if she was going to ban me on Roseland. I had made some very silly remarks, while playing a tantalizing part, in a group, having MFK games & good times.
She is very hardcore against policing comments, and pardoned my faux pas. It took longer for others to collapse my sillybilly comments, or to pass them by. Sigh.
Here I am, two years + later, evermore sillier, con mucho placer.
