Rob and Kristen-- This, That and the Other.

I love this picture.
It makes me feel all nostalgic...
and even kinda sad.

This was my first "avi" in this fandom.
Way back in the OLDEN days.
Olden.
As I write that it doesn't even seem like a real word.
But yeah...
WAY back when
In October 2008
When I first started writing this blog.
Looking at that picture made me reminisce a bit.

So what did I do?
I went and reread a few of my earlier blogs.
And W.O.W.
I was quite intoxicated with Mr. Pattinson... wasn't I?
Obsessed.
Yes.
I was obsessed.
No fucking doubt about it.

Remember this picture?
Rob in Vancouver.
I'm guess it was during New Moon...
because he was basically left alone.
Remember this picture?
Because basically Rob looks... incredible.

I kinda miss the days when Robert didn't look like
he wanted to break someones face
when people took his picture.
Of course... its all different now, isn't it?
Before there would be a couple of photographers...
Now there are 30.
Before they kept a respectful distance...
Now they are right up in his face
and shouting awful obscene things at him.

This picture was taken in November of 2008.
A lot of talk about it, of course...
Because Rob was with a 'girl'!
OH NO.
I've always liked this picture.
I love how Rob is laughing
And I love how Camilla is laughing.
It's a happy picture.

It makes me realize how Rob can't do that now.
Just walk down the street...
laughing with a friend.

So yeah.
I'm nostalgic.

And reading my early blog posts...
It kinda made me wish for those easier days
Those simple fandom days.
We were all on the same side back then.
We all loved Robert Pattinson.
We all were consumed by him...
and were trying to understand his hold on us.

Well...
When did the fandom split apart?
We all know the answer.
As soon as Robert and Kristen let it be known
that they were together...
(It was o.b.v.i.o.u.s.)
It was blown to smithereens.
Yes. Smithereens.
I like that word.
Use it in a sentence tomorrow.

All of a sudden we weren't just fans.
There were the fans who were happy for Rob and Kristen.
There were Kristen fans who hated Rob
There were Rob fans who hated Kristen
There were the needy insecure fans
who just had to worry and fret about something.

I know it changed me, too.
Where before I obsessed over Rob's every move...
I now found myself cheering for Rob AND Kristen.
I found myself liking Kristen the more I got to know her...
I found myself happy to see
Rob's smile whenever he was around her.
I was on their side.

So as I read my posts...
I started to talk more and more about Kristen.
I loved watching them fall in love.
Because that's pretty much what we saw.
All the stolen moments that we watched...
All the brief glimpses into their relationship.
It's been sweet.

I started this blog because I so desperately wanted
to understand my desire for Robert...
No actor/singer had ever affected me like he had.
It was mind boggling to me.
I'm NOT that kinda girl.
The swoony fangirly screechy fan.
Nope.
Not me.
Except I kinda was. Now.
OK.
Not the screechy part
(Keep telling yourself that, Rose)
But I was all kinds of swoony and melty.
No doubt about that.
So why Rob?
Well.
If you are reading this... you know why.

Rob and Kristen helped me with that.
I'm not obsessive anymore.
I can actually not download every picture I see.
(Don't quote me on that though.)
I don't have to be online for every public appearance.
I don't need to be there when IT happens.
I can wait now.
Kristen gave me patience.

As Robert fell in love with Kristen...
I found myself falling for her too.
So that begs the question.
Do I only like Kristen because of Rob?
No. Not even.
I adore Kristen completely separate from Rob.
Even if they weren't together
madly in love
being all sweet and adorable and wonderful
I would still love Kristen.

I used to say that I love Rob and Kristen
Together or Apart.
But let's face it...
Together is Perfection.

Someone once told me that the above picture
of Kristen was one of Rob's favorite.
Is that true?
Well... it's one of mine.
Naturally Simply Beautiful.

So anyway.
In 3 1/2 years
Have I learned anything?

1. I always assumed that if you were a fan
of Rob and/or Kristen
That you would accept whatever choices
they made in their private relationships.
Mostly because we don't get a fucking vote.
But seeing Rob/Kristen happy
should be all it takes.
See..
It's not about what makes us happy.
It's about what they want.
Repeat after me...
OUR OPINIONS ABOUT ROB AND KRISTEN'S CHOICES
IN THEIR PRIVATE LIVES DOESN'T MATTER.

2. Hating someone isn't an opinion.
Lying about someone isn't an opinion.

3. Why are people such cowards?
Why must they 'hide' behind anonymous names
before they can say what they want to say?
If you can't say it with a name that you are known by...
Then maybe you shouldn't be saying it at all.

4. There is a lot of drama in this fandom.
Every fucking day.
Sometimes its amusing to watch...
I even used to stick my spoon in the pot
for a good stir now and again

But lately
It's just been tedious.
And kinda boring.
I'm not in this to change anyone's mind.
I've never been one to try and shove my opinion
down anyone else's throat.
I'm lazy and who has the time?
(well... except the lunatic fringe)
And although its cliche to say this...
I really don't give a fuck what you believe.
Truth is truth
and its on my side.

Final thoughts.

A. I've enjoyed the part of the fanbase
that is happy and satisfied
that Rob and Kristen are in love
and content
and together.

That's where I am.

B. Andrew and Emma

Some people don't care for them
I adore them.
Andrew seems completely smitten with Emma.
(Very familiar looks of absolute love)
And I think Emma is pretty fucking awesome.
Absolutely taken with each other.
Sweet.

C. Cannes

Now that I look at these pictures again
(seriously... get used to seeing them A LOT)
Not a lot of difference between
Emma/Andrew and Kristen/Robert
is there?

Radiant smiles.
Sweet kisses.
Touching.

Looks like LOVE to me

Those Brit boys know how to make a girl happy...

And that leads me to

D. Tom Sturridge

I was going to put in one of Sienna and Tom...
But this one won.

I completely adore you Thomas Sturridge.

E. For Smitty and Gruff:

Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend.

This post is brought to you by compromise.

Until next time.

Bye for now

Hope you are all doing well :)

I don't think the fandom split apart for robert and kristen's relationship . some women are just crazy , they're obsessed by Robert .They would have found another reason to express this madness .
we turn a blind eye because they are robert's fan as all of us . this is the reason why these women are still here , from 2008 .
kristen pays the penalty but kristen and robert's love story is not the trigger for the separation of this fandom .
It's an excuse .

Sweet post Rose. You are so up when everything seems down.

Oh and I did try to help and was shrugged off. So here's my question...why is my absence so upsetting YET now I get ignored?

Thanks--I would say I'm going for a drive but haha..maybe not the best idea right?

Thanks for talking. You help-fuck at least you'll speak to me. Tell your friend I'm sorry too. I should just have it tattoo'd on my forehead.

Hey, Rose... and anyone else...

Here's my take on your "life's too short..." (Yay, Beatles)

Relationships are complicated. Loving relationships, even more so. Much effort goes into a good, strong partnership - but it is OH, SO worth every bit of effort.

I love this quote. I know it was written about "freedom", but it works for relationships:
"What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value" (Thomas Paine)

I've been married for 32 years. That's a lot of days, weeks, months. I guarantee, we've had some tough times in there - but we worked through them, and I'm so glad.

Hugs to all!

Super RN Gas Passer said...

DOTTIE...Hi...I don't remember so much rain in June. usually it's rainy in August here. I guess I shouldn't complain..Rainy and 80ish is better than 100 and hotter than hell...which pretty much exemplifies the summers around here!

Super, It was like a sauna here after it rained today. Ugh!

Hi Leni :)

At the end of the week my sons are leaving for their annual summer trip to Louisiana. They'll be there a month visiting friends. Mr. Dottie and I will have this big old house all to ourselves!

Litmom said...

YES!
Rainy Night in Georgia -I feel like it's rainin' all over the world!

Oldie but goodie - 1970ish?

Super RN Gas Passer said...

LENI

Haha.... I know you would not...It came out in the 70's I think. By a guy named Brook Benton...

Hovering by my suitcase, tryin to find a place to spend the night
heavy rain falling' seems I hear your voice calling' " It's all right"

a rainy night in Georgia, a rainy night in Georgia
it seems like its raining' all over the world

I feel like its rainin all over the world
Neon signs a flashing', taxi cabs and buses passin through the night
a distant moanin of a train seems to play a sad refrain to the night

A rainy night in Georgia, such a rainy night in Georgia
Lord, I believe it's rainin all over the world
I feel like it,s rainin' all over the world

How many times I wondered
It still comes out the same
No matter how you look at it or think of it
It's life and you just got to play the game

There may be some typos but there you go....Not near as good a job as DK!

This post made me feel all different kinds of things. I remember scouring the internet for every little morsel. At the time Rob and Kristen were just these two HW people who fascinated me and I couldn't understand it (to take time to follow 2 ppl's careers and to talk about them online with others is so not me, but yet they just made me feel all these things).

The longer I've been around the less I feel the need to scour the internet though. I think it's because I see them as people and not objects if that makes any sense. I just want to see them happy and healthy.

Today I happened upon a starfish while out and about. That brought back memories of another one. Remember the words of Pooh for he was a wise old bear. Hoping for brighter skies in the future for all.

A little late to the fangirling but I loved the Vanity Fair shoot!! That picture of the black/white dress was flawless! Can't wait to get a copy in my hands to see it with my own eyes and not scans.

DK- I saw your comment about your friend. I hope things are looking better by now. Hugs...

Groovie- That had to be so awkward!! I hope the rest of your week goes smoother.

Dottie- Woo Hoo! A whole house to yourselves. What ever shall you do??? Don't answer that...lol!

Robert- It's good to see you pop in. Glad the effects of the surgery are still a positive one for you.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Gotta jump on the bandwagon too and send out an SOS to Freddie. Anyone talk to her outside of here?

Off to watch the latest episode of the RHofNJ. Why I subject myself to the crazy is beyond me...

Have a great start to the week!

Groovie said...

Oh! I'm loving all the saucy innuendo directed at Dottie!
Don't be coming back here in a couple weeks telling us about all the crossword puzzles you have done or the gardening you have been doing...we won't believe you! Hahahaha! ;)

Dottie said...

Melinda, I've been wondering about Freddie too. Hopefully she will check in soon to let us know she's ok. I really liked what you wrote about seeing R/K as real people instead of objects. If more people felt that way maybe there would be less hate from one extreme & less intrusion from the other. (wishful thinking???)

Groovie, What a strange reaction! I'm glad you were able to get the man out w/a handshake and pat on the back. Whew!

IB, Congrats on keeping your same grade and classroom. That should make things easier in the fall. Hang on, you're almost there!

Hi Hope and Rhonda, I'm sorry I missed you. Hopefully we can catch up soon.

Dottie said...

Too funny, Groovie! Maybe I'll just buy a big jigsaw puzzle for us to work on in the evenings! bahaha!!

Birdie said...

Thank you,Rose. As always you put it all in perspective. I wish a few more people would remember how they used to feel and realize they have no say in how they live their lives.

Melinda,
Perfectly put. I feel the same way. I just got my Vanity Fair in the mail today. Stunning!

Glad you are doing well, Robert.

Jealous of those of you getting rain. We need it!

Dottie,
Jealous of your empty house!

If some of the people looking for rain could take some of ours I would be very grateful, we have been having nutty weather this summer beautiful warm sunny weather back to cold wet and windy within a day sometimes.

Hi everybody
It's been a while since I posted a comment. There have been a lot of things happening in my life the past few months some good... others not so good. But that is ok, sometimes we have tough times that are meant to build our character, and make us stronger.
Rose - love today's post. Well, I love all your posts, never miss them.
Litmom - loved what you said about loving, long lasting relationships being hard work, but also being worth every moment. I am not in a relationship myself, but my parents have been married for 39 years. They have gone through many happy times and also many trials, but they tell me (and I can see it) that they still make each other happy to this day.

Oh, for anyone here who is a fan of In N Out burgers. I was in Nevada and California on holidays in April/May and was able to enjoy 'animal style' burgers and fries. They were awesome, thank you for introducing me to that gastronomic delight. I only wish we could have In N Out in Australia. Maybe someday, eh.

Well, I better go, its getting late here and have to get up extra early for work tomorrow. Someone "volunteered" me for a project, lol.

Have a great day everyone!

Don’t know what to think about this post… I feel that I’m missing something…

I finally saw Snow White and the Huntsman… with an open mind(considering all the bad reviews)… but I really didn’t like it, to be honest. The special-effects and the music are amazing, but that’s not enough to make it a good movie. I thought that the script was truly awful, the story made no sense, there was no connection between the characters… it all seemed abrupt and I felt that we were expected to assume things that should have been explained. Also, the movie was supposed to have a lot of action… but I thought that it was too long and too slow, and the most anticipated scenes felt rushed and anti-climatic.
I think that Kristen is a very talented actress and I think that she has potential to be really great. I really do. I think that she did a great job as Bella in the Twilight movies and I really loved her in The Runaways, Adventureland, WTTR or The Cake Eaters, just to name a few. But I really don’t think that she was the right choice for this role. Even though this is supposed to be a darker and edgier version of the story, I think that there are some characteristics that we immediately identify with the character (sweet, feminine, delicate, ethereal) that should have been present in the performance, characteristics that I didn’t feel that she portrayed well. Also, I thought that her gestures, the way she walked and even the way she spoke (especially during the speech) were too abrupt, too “contemporary”. It didn’t feel like she was portraying a character living in the medieval era, if that makes sense.
In a more superficial note, even though I don’t agree with the critics saying that she is not beautiful enough to play the role (I think that she is gorgeous), I thought that there were scenes where she looked “less” beautiful because of the way she was filmed (weird/unflattering camera angles) or because of the way she was stylized (the hairstyle she wore when dressed in armor, is one of the most unflattering I’ve ever seen on her – too much focus on her ears, gave her an unintentional funny look). Also, much have been said about one specific facial expression of her – her characteristic “semi-open” mouth. I think that the reason she does this expression so many times is because she often has to portray that kind of emotion in her movies (fear, surprise,…), but I agree that sometimes is very, very distracting, especially in close-ups.
I know that she will be in the sequel, but I wish she wouldn’t. I know, and accept, that others liked the movie and her performance, but most of the reviews on her performance were really, really bad. I doubt that their opinion is going to change in the second movie… I just think that it’s not a smart choice for her career.

IMO the veil on your insults is still transparent enough to show your agenda, Rachel.

Rachel - Do you even realize how ridiculous your comment sounds???
Oh and BTW: We are not stupid - just because you throw in some little compliments, doesn't mean that we can't see what you truly are.

Rachel - The only thing your "missing" is an ounce of credibility. Please hold your breath until Kristen asks you for career advice.

Indeed, Rachel true colours are really showing with that comment! Same pattern as prior unwelcome visitors.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have no other "agenda" than sharing my opinion. Everything I wrote, including that I think that "she is a very talented actress", that "I think that she did a great job as Bella in the Twilight movies", that "I really loved her in The Runaways, Adventureland, WTTR or The Cake Eaters, just to name a few" and that "I think she's gorgeous" is what I really feel. I really didn't like this movie, I explained why, and I'm not going to apologize for having a different opinion from you. I didn't insult Kristen, I criticized her performance in the movie. I really think that, for this particular role, she was not the right choice and I explained why I think that. I think that she was the right choice for many other roles, including all the movies I mentioned. For what I've seen in the trailer, I think that she is the right choice for playing Marylou in OTR. For what I've read about Cali, I think that she might be the right choice to play Mya. I just didn't like her in this role, although I admire her dedication to the movie. And yes, the majority of film critics that reviewed the movie were harsh on her, and that's exactly why I wish she wouldn't do the sequel. I doubt they will change their opinion, they will be harsh on her again (Twilight all over again, anyone?). I'm sorry, I prefer when movie critics praise her performances. And I didn't like the movie, remember? Why would I think that doing the sequel is a good idea?
And no, I'm not trying to give her career advice, just sharing what I feel about some of her decisions.
