Angelica - the Lake District sounds lovely. I can see how spending time at airports would be a drag for you. I'm not at the airport as often as you (I usually only travel by air 1 - 2 times a month for work) but I often choose to stay close to home to avoid that as well. People used to think that traveling for work was glamourous. They are so wrong.

My bff was born in Lewiston and I first went to visit at their farm from the big city I live in, in 1962.
We are friends, evermore. Her hubs was the one who passed in March and they are having a memorial in Excelsior or St. Paul and she wants to drive down the river (Mississippi) to Lewiston for old times sake.
I said I couldn't, wouldn't and won't go along, but am having a change of heart, for she needs it so, and I can go.

Believe it or not, I cut out lots of the lyrics of "One Tin Soldier" and still there are so many.
It was an important anthem for my generation, that longed for peace (got it for Vietnam) and no more wars (not true yet), much like the whole world does (those who are awake to it).
Ice box? It was like a fridge but you put a block of ice in the top or back of it, which was delivered by an ice company, into a hatch by your back door.
Ice box pie or cake, had real fresh whipped cream and homemade pudding, that had to be refrigerated to keep it safe.
That was the kind of pie I had in honor of Kristen's b-day today at dinner, and I left a part of it for eating later.
Lemon Ice Box Pie with graham cracker crust (so full of butter). Maybe I could get the recipe from the owner, he is very nice, and post it, if anyone is interested. It makes a great warm weather dessert.
Thank you, darlingest Kristen, for giving me a reason to eat Ice Box Pie in your honor, and for the sheer delight of doing it.

I was going out to eat tonight to celebrate my day of birth. We were going to a nearby city. I was to be picked up by my parents and brother. Remember the parents are in their 80's. I waited and waited. I get a phone call and they were almost there when they realized they forgot me. They are so lucky I have a great sense of humor.
