I had a friend who was a 5th grade teacher. One night, when I was over, she was finishing marking some of the students writing assignments.
For fun, she told me to read some and tell her what grades they should be given.
I took it very seriously, and read them thoroughly, finally deciding on one A, one B and two C's as final grades.
When she asked me how I had arrived at each grade, and after I explained my methods, she then marked each one with an "A".
I was dumbfounded with her doing that and asked why she did.
Her response is forever etched in my memory, for she said that each child had made their absolutely best efforts in each story, and should be rewarded as such.
She was awarded kudos, too, and often, for her excellence in teaching. Not surprising is it? Yet, at that time, not many teachers were as aware and free-willed as she was.
Teachers should be hallowed and paid more than presidents, kings/queens or Wall Street traders!
I vote yes, to increase their salaries tenfold, even in these hard economic times, jmho!
DK- I totally agree. I have several teachers within my family and they are not paid nearly enough.

I have a sister that teaches at risk teens, who is struggling with burn out for the first time in 30 years. She is a wonderful teacher, but the kids are difficult and no teachers are not awarded near enough.

Angelica – I saw your comment about possibly getting another dog. It reminded me of a close friend of mine, who for years had a multi-year dog plan. She always wanted to have a minimum of 3 dogs. When one got on in years, she would get another one so that when that unfortunate and inevitable day came, she still had 3 dogs. Problem now is that her 3 dog plan has grown into the 8 dog plan. She has 6 Jack Russells, one mix and a big black Newfie dog. Her vet bills are out of this world.
