Rob and Kristen- Newtons's Law

Because I wanted to... That's why.

Lex III: Actioni contrariam semper et æqualem esse reactionem:
sive corporum duorum actiones in se mutuo semper
esse æquales et in partes contrarias dirigi.

The following poem has been written by my friends Syd and Smitty.
I take no credit for the words...
Although I did put a picture in here and there.
My comments at the bottom.

10.12.10
Epic

Twas the night before "epic" day, and all thru Roseland
Not a creature was stirring, just Dk and her band.
The regs were all ready with cookies to share
Awaiting great news, it seemed only fair.

The lurkers were all present and ready to say
That Rose was just crazy, to name a set day.
They picked and they teased, said she was a fake,
Unless she made good, gave them gossip to take.

But what did they want, the mean ones who hate
What was enough, to spare Rose this fate?

The regs gathered and waited to see what it would be
They all loved to hear the news from RoseSee.
Even they got caught up in the hype of this day
What kind of news would Rose have to say?
Yet how did it start, this big epic mess?
It seemed rather harmless to me I confess.
As already stated a friend misspelled his name
He was drunk and they joked, it all seemed so tame!

But nobody listened when Rose tried to explain,
the shit kept coming down, in a strong steady rain,
Robsten is married or engaged at least
We want a sex tape on which we can feast!

"No No!" shouted Rose and some of her pals,
"I don't have great news about Rob and his gal
What's epic to me, will not be to you."
But still the news traveled so fast that it flew.

The date was a chance for Rose's big fans
To give her a gift, you can't find in a can
A day off her blog, to let someone else try
To make people smile and make spirits fly.

Because that's what Rose does for us every day
She gives us a place to share and to play
To talk to our friends and share all the news
Rounds of MFK or cheer those that are blue.

Some hang all day but some just before bed
and who hasn't enjoyed some time in the shed?
The Yanks and the Brits and some Aussies too
a few live on islands and from Timbuktu.

But they all found a place in Roseland to be
great friends who mostly are in harmony.
If honey or others show up to be rude
they dog pile on, adjust that attitude.

But what of poor Rose, who only had joked
About people who prodded and bothered and poked
Insisted her broken e was actually a code
and her every word, took them down a fake road.

Don't people know Rose plays it all straight?
She put out today, as a joke of a date.
She's never claimed insider news or to know
Anything more than her friends or her foe.

The joke a mere word that took off like a shot
And suddenly she was in water too hot.
"My friends what should I do?
They think I have news, I don't really have poo"

Her friends started to worry and felt rather sick
They had encouraged her, with a date she should pick
It started so small, the joke about Tome
Would it ruin Roseland, their second home?

But the friends started to talk and to chat and to think
Rose is so great, we can't let her sink!
So haters and those who lurk and who talk
Go away now, take a long walk

People sometimes mean what they say, you all need to know
Rose said all along, she had nowhere to go
All your theories and plans were full of such shit
She kept saying the truth, but you all had a fit

So today is just Friday, but epic to us
And you can all run and make a big fuss
Chase your tails and try to give Rose a swift kick
but please just "get off of our dick"

***********************************************************************

I don't know about any of you...
but to me?
That was EPIC.
And for Syd and Smitty to take time out of their
incredibly busy schedules to do that for me?
Let's just say...
I absolutely adore both of you.
But you already know that.

Final Thoughts.

1. The quote at the beginning of this post?
Words of Wisdom.

2. London.

"One road leads to London.
One road runs to Wales.
My road leads me seawards...
To the white dipping sails."

3. Christmas.

"All roads lead to London...
For London is Tome."

"I'll be Tome for Christmas."

This post is brought to you by the letter *S* and *E*

S for Syd and Smitty.
Thank You.
It means more than words can ever say.

E for Epic.
Epic for you?
Probably not.
Epic for Rob and Kristen?
Well...
I'm guessing they will be having an EPIC holiday.
What do you think?
;)

Bye for now.

Your dream,silly!

Birdie,

The bars sound good too....Smitty is going to be thrilled with all these recipes....and they all sound great....I couldn't stop laughing with that one called Reindeer Droppings, but it sounded really good...oh and one from I think Olivia, with pretzels and Rolos...I go for anything that's easy to make...

I'm sitting here eating my Mars bar, anywhere Robert goes he brings me a candy bar...earlier when I first got on the board, he went to the gas station, and now I found my Mars bar on top of the dining room table..he really is a sweetie...

@Birdie
Bren knows the gist of it cause I told her some. She thinks it's worth sharing. If that means something to me, so far I haven't decided what.

You know how dreams are? They don't always make sense but mine did and it wasn't the sense that made it funny, it was the part that didn't.

Birdie said...

Bren, are you fading?

DreamerKind said...

@Bren
I don't see your lurker pal shouting out hello, hello!

Put some elbow into it and lean on her to appear.

DreamerKind said...

Shh,don't tell anyone but so far I have copied all of the recipes that have been posted and I have them for reference but it is a big job to sort them out into a logical order.

Birdie said...

Bren, sorry there you are on a new page. That is sweet. It sounds like you have a good man.

DreamerKind said...

Lurker pal of Bren's, hello, hello!

She must be fading or typing and not reading my comments.

DreamerKind said...

@Birdie
Are you going to leave for work soon?

Birdie said...

I am going to have to sit down and figure out how to copy and file all of these. I assume it can't be too hard and my girls will love to assist and tell me how lame I am

Bren said...

I just wonder how many we will have in the end.....
I do bake cookies, but I can contribute more when it moves to desserts......

Birdie said...

I do not work weekends. You are stuck with me until you drift off.

DreamerKind said...

@Birdie
I'm with you on that-it shouldn't be too hard but it isn't easy. I'm using Word and so many things vary in the text that I have to adjust them. Wish my daughter would think I'm lame and help me, too. That would be very easy then.

Birdie said...

Great I love desserts, less time watching the oven.

Bren said...

FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sleepy, and I have to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow----

May I hit the hay now??????

DreamerKind said...

@Birdie

Me, drift off? Ain't gonna happen.

I either plunk my head down on the keyboard and am completely out or I get up and go to bed, which for the time being, is only 2 feet away from here.

DreamerKind said...

@Bren
So funny, this new requirement!

Go forth and multiply....in peace and comfort may you lie.

Birdie said...

Bren, sweet dreams and may they rival DK's!

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
She's supposed to announce when she is leaving (not just go poof and be gone) and then wait a bit to see if we post responses (so genteel).

We're two days into it and it's all right so far.

DreamerKind said...

@Bren
Don't make me write you up for a violation! You are supposed to come back after the announcement and respond to our comments, and then you say bye or whatever while you depart.

Last night, you said bye and then came back later and said you bought something on QVC and were going to bed then. What?

Timelines, timelines, timelines are good for timing people, Bren.

Birdie said...

We may still be gettin it, although we should have hd it last night. We only got an inch of slush.
On your recommendation I took a trip over to Robsten Angels. It looks a bit higher tech than what I am capable of. I was very impressed by the quality of pictures and some I have never seen.

DreamerKind said...

The old, cold shoulder, is my old friend, again.

Two weary cyberspace bloggers go back and forth, back and forth and I will begin to do so myself.

It's a small world after all.

Bren said...

Birdie,

Before I go I am going to share this super easy recipe that everyone loves...4 ingredients.....

Lime Delight

1 large box lime jello
1 large container cottage cheese--small curd
1 large container cool whip
1 can pineapple tidbits

In mixing bowl combine cottage cheese and whipped cream.

Drain pineapple tidbits.(no liquid at all it will make mushy)

Empty envelope of lime jello into mixture..(yes,dry)

Mix until mixture turns green and doesn't look grainy...chill one hour before serving...

Optional:orange jello w/mandarin oranges

(I would never make it hours ahead, because it loses its consistency, one hour chilled is perfect.)

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
RA is incredible with the pics, videos and news. A great bunch of folks from all over the world. But like a fork in the road, everyone takes one or the other home.

DreamerKind said...

@Bren
What part of cookies, didn't you understand? That is a jello mold, silly.

Oh, well, no violation possible, as I am not the recipe warden, only the announcement monitor.

Birdie said...

Bren another green recipe, thank you. It sounds right up my alley, easy and the kids will eat it.
DK, you lost me on the fork in the road???

Bren said...

I am really saying good night now...

Great, now the pooch wants out....

Later.

Birdie said...

Bren don't worry,it will go great with a grasshopper. Well maybe not.

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
In other words, when you come to the point, after looking at all you wanted to see and then making a decision about staying on RA or coming back to Roseland, you do.

DreamerKind said...

@Bren
I'm really saying goodnight now.

Birdie said...

Ahhh..yes that is a given.

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
I'm not really say goodnight now, Bren was. Go with this post, it's the newest status on me coming and going.

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
Fill me in on something about you.

Birdie said...

DK, are you entering dreamland too?
Am I slow or were your references to SM related to her dream that started all of this? This just dawned on me.

Birdie said...

These conversations don't always flow.
Something about me...I have to remember that a few others might read this. What do you want to know?

DreamerKind said...

Gah, I wish I were that smart!

No, I actually had a dream about R & K a few nights ago, shared some of it with Bren and she thought it would be funny, so I should share it here on RSL.

Hey, maybe I can be the next SM, isn't that what you are saying?

My dream was mundane, no romance, no vampires (real), no suspense.

Why am I even thinking about sharing such a silly, boring story?

Bren said to because she wants me to look like a sillybilly!

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
You have a point. What I want to know about you I already do, from what you have told us and how you write. Guess I'm good to go.

I like you, very much, Birdie.

Birdie said...

Well you never know, SM might have thought her dream was silly too. HaHa! Just a coincidence then.

Birdie said...

Thank you Dk, that is so sweet. I really like you too. I love the way that warp speed brain of yours works!

Birdie said...

I'm not sure about the spelling of warp, haha. but you know what I mean.

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
Earlier Olivia posted a poem for me, Ode to Socks by Pablo Neruda.

When I saw it, I couldn't get over how familiar it seemed and that I had read it on the blog before, just as written. Deja vu? And other things have been like that lately, almost as if I knew them a few days ahead.

We all have the capability to use our higher thought system, but it is little exercised I guess.

Interesting to spec it, eh?

DreamerKind said...

Birdie
I do know what you mean-I'm warped and fast. Not bad for chump change.

Birdie said...

I saw that poem, it was great.
Here is something I will share, without really revealing much.
I have a fairly calm life now, but it used to read like one of those B-rated Lifetime movies.Oh the stories I could tell. Some were awful at the time, but now I like to think that my life is just colorful. I would bet you can relate to this.

DreamerKind said...

@Birdie
I can relate to that but in my case, although others call my life colorful like yours, let's say, to me it seems very mild.

Perhaps I haven't done enough of what I truly love to do, and perhaps color isn't as beautiful as black and white, when looking backwards on your life.

Birdie said...

I use "colorful" instead of what some people might call tragic, chaotic, etc... I might have thought those words fit at one time, but prefer not to sound like a victim of circumstances.

Windmills Of Your Mind

Dusty Springfield sees/listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl8fKAYQuPk

Round,
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning

On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon

Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face

And the world is like an apple
Rolling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone

Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
All the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream

Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Rolling silently in space

Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that you said?

Lovers walk along the shore
Leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?

Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of this song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?

When you knew that it was over
You Were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the colour of his hair?

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel

As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Thank you/gferdinandus

Yes, I can see that it is a better way to look at it and to say it.

It holds the sum total of Birdie, and she has reached this place, at this time, and is whole and filled with color that we can see.

I am going to have to bid you farwell for the night and will look for you when you arise this afternoon. I have an early morning phone call with my sister on Saturday mornings. I really look forward to these early morning chats. Thank you DK,for being DK!

The Lamp Is Low

Doris Day is pure light/listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyn7-f7fNC8

Another perfect day has come to a close,
Twelve o'clock, all is well
And while a sleepy world is lost in repose,

Let my heart softly tell you
Dream beside me in the midnight glow,
The lamp is low.

Dream and watch the shadows come and go,
The lamp is low.

While you linger in my arms,
My lips will sigh I love you so

Dream the sweetest dream we'll ever know,
Tonight the moon is high,
The lamp is low.

Dream the sweetest dream we'll ever know,
Tonight the moon is high,
The lamp is low.

Thank you/Dayniac4324

Thank you to all of my Roseland friends for the YUMMY recipes! Nothing will help me get into the Christmas spirit more than baking cookies while being literally buried in snow. (I'll be content if it stops at 12"....18" will just be overkill.) Be safe if you are out in it! :D

Have a wonderful weekend Roselanders!!

Kay said...

Well, my snowflakes looked much prettier when I typed them all spaced out and floaty....now they are all in one big yucky clump......just like RL I guess!! :)

Birdie said...

Kay,
Are you in the midwest? We had an inch of HEAVY slush, which is a BITCH to shovel and now the snow is coming down on top of it. It is pretty though and I love blizzards!

Kay said...

Hi Birdie :)

Yep! Right in that big purple area on the weather.com radar map. :) That's too bad that you ended up with slush first...we've only gotten snow. It sure is pretty though!

Mary said...

Kay,

You have a foot of snow? We didn't get any even though they kept predicting it. I haven't gotten any new since Thursday.

Kay said...

Hi Penny!

I think we are at about 7"+ accumulation since midnight with snow to continue the rest of the day and into early Sunday. They are predicting 12-15" total for our area...possibly up to 18" depending on who you listen to. Lots of blowing and drifting, you know how it goes! It makes it so much nicer when I've got plenty of Christmas things to do here and don't have to go anywhere.....not having to shovel it is a plus, too! :) Are you sure it isn't heading your way, too?

Mary said...

Kay,

I'm sure it's just working it's way across the lake. We have a winter storm watch until Monday evening. 6 inches tonight are predicting and then winds and snow tomorrow. I have a party way out in BFE tomorrow so that should be interesting.

Hello!

Stopping by quickly and I really wasn't intending to post, just had to say though Smitty & Syd I knew you guys were talented, but had no idea you had such mad poetic skills! I absolutely loved it....totally epic... ;-)

Tracy, thanks so much for posting my recipes.....I definitely recommend the Rocky Road it's one of my favourite things ever. I also wanted to say thank you Tracy for the lovely words you wrote, I too value your friendship very much and I hope you know I'm here for you whenever you need me. Love you lots.

Smitty I miss you, sending you lots of love....hope you are good and having fun!...much love to Gruff and the lovely Syd.

I hope everyones having a great weekend!

Liza

Cate said...

Syd & Smitty: very cute! Hope you find some play time in those busy schedules of yours.

My contribution for the Epic event. Better late than never.

Amaretto Snowflakes

1/2 c. Amaretto
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. finely chopped pecans
1/2 c. flour
Powdered sugar
1 small bag chocolate chip morsels (milk chocolate or semi-sweet)
1tbsp. vegetable oil

In a saucepan combine Amaretto, butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in pecans and flour. Stir until blended. Drop tbsp. of mixture onto greased metal cookie sheet. Bake only 6 cookies at a time, in a preheated hot oven (375 degrees) for 6-8 minutes until brown and bubbly. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 1-2 min. Remove from cookie sheet and allow to cool completely. Sprinkle heavily with powdered sugar. Melt chocolate chips (double boiler or microwave) and stir in 1 tbsp. oil. Drizzle melted chocolate over cookies (a wire whisk works well). Cool overnight or until chocolate hardens.

I just wanted to thank my friend Tracy (the original…The Great? Yep… Tracy The Great) for keeping me company in my kitchen while I made sure this recipe worked right. It had been awhile since I made these and nothing really can beat good conversation, chocolate, and drinks! Lots n Lots…

Keep warm to those in the snow!

:)

Hi Cate!

Since we had epic cookie day, I want to suggest an epic cocktail day!

Kami said...

Dear Syd,

I feel that we have left you out of our Christmas event and that is not fair since you have become such a huge part of Roseland. A few of us have felt for a while that we should give you a special one of a kind gift.

Cookie recipes are wonderful if someone is a cook, however since you do not cook, then giving you cookie recipes is wasted and not fair to you.

We have thought long and hard about what would be an appropriate gift for someone as talented and wonderful as you, and each time we came up with an option something made us change our minds.

Yesterday after the Epic post you and Smitty did for Rose, some of us thought a Song dedication might be in order, however none of us is anywhere as talented as DK in that area of expertise and she had already posted the perfect song to you and Smitty for mentioning her in the poem. So...what was left to us?

I lay awake last night thinking, nothing came to mind until about 3 AM when I sat up in bed and said "TA DA!!!!!!! I think I have it!"

Not wanting to give away too many details and spoil your surprise, let's just say that if we can get a Basket that large through Customs then you should expect a "Special" Christmas gift to arrive on your doorstep soon. When it is opened...I hope you remember the work that went into the planning of this surprise and say "TA DA! What a one of a kind, unique, ageless...gift" We all hope that you enjoy this gift with a drink, might we suggest a Martini with extra olives? It is a gift that is sure to make you wish...and say..."There's no place like Tome" =)

Tracy my shed friend, if it's not too much trouble, if Rose posts a new message and you post before I do, could you please paste and copy this message? I don't want Syd to miss it! Thanks and HUGS!!

Cate said...

SueBee *hugs* my friend! I love epic cocktail night!! Woo woos all around!

Kami, That is only an idea that could be dreamed up in the shed! Love it!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

KAMI..you are so wonderful..how thoughtful of you to send a present to SYD! I was tied up all day yesterday so didnt get to post.

HUGS everyone and to SYD and SMITTY, thanks..the poem was great. I have already cyber high fived DK via email...so cute and clever.
