Dear Rose and the Roselandians,
I guess I can’t start by saying I rarely comment like I usually do. If you comment more then once in a week I think you have to officially hand over the lurker badge?
I just wanted you all to know that the support and laughter you provide to one another reaches far outside the borders of that day’s post. For those of us that don’t have the privilege of making daily visits to Roseland, know that your positive energy continues to radiate long after that day is done.
This week, two dear people in my life moved on. A lifelong friend made a beautiful, selfless decision to move to Africa for humanitarian work for three years. Two days after her departure, one of our friends was killed in a motorcycle crash. I’m sure many of you have experienced times in your life when your body is on auto pilot and you are just going through the motions feeling numb? Anyway…insomnia owns my ass right now, and I've found myself stumbling over to read Rose’s thoughts and those of the Roselanders. For the first time in days I have genuinely smiled, laughed, and felt some of the comradely that my friends’ absence has left.
@ The sassy sisterhood (Tracy, Sue, Leigh, Manjen, Elaine, Melinda, etc): Jokes + quotes + chronicles + sheds + basements = maniacal laughter
@ Elaine: U + (my now African) BFF = immeasurable compassion & inspiration
@ GS(squared): Syd + Smitty + Gruff = priceless memories recalled of friendships that make life matter (and of course even more maniacal laughter)

Oh, and since I've yammered on about it, I figured I'd post the flank steak and chutney recipe.
Thank heavens for copy and paste.. fyi.
Flank Steak with Grilled Mango and Watermelon Chutney
Steak:
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 (1 1/2 pound) flank steak, trimmed
cooking spray
Watermelon Chutney:
2 peeled ripe mangoes, each cut into quarters (about 1 pound)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 cup thinly vertically sliced onion
1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger
1/2 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 table spoons fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
2 cups finely diced seedless watermelon (about 3/4 pound)
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
Mint springs (optional)
Lime wedges (optional)
1. Prepare grill
2. To prepare steak, combine first 4 ingredients. Sprinkle steak evenly with sugar mixture. Place steak on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 8 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut steak diagonally across grain into thin slices.
3. To prepare chutney, place mango on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 4 minutes on each side. Cool; chop. Set aside.
4. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion; saute 4 minutes. Add ginger; saute 1 minute. Add vinegar and next 4 ingredients; cook 5 minutes or until liquid almost evaporates. Stir in mango; cook 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in watermelon, cilantro, and chopped mint. Garnish with mint and lime if desired.

Well I have no plans for this afternoon for the first time in weeks, yay! so I plan to nip to the shops then do nothing apart from hang out, listen to music and maybe watch a film.
It's my brothers birthday today so tonight my mum is doing a little get together for him, we were going out for dinner but due to baby Toms arrival we are just staying at home having some champagne and nice food :-)

Feel better soon. I hope you've got some good antibiotics to knock out the sinus issues. If you aren't better after 3 days on them, call them back. And why do men snore as they get older? I'm not saying your husband is old because I have no idea how old he is but the snoring is the worst.
I wish I could get to know each of you better because you all are so much fun, and kind, and go all mama bear when anyone is threatened.

Trust me, if it were up to me, I'd still be in bed! This whole lack of sleep thing lately---so not fun!
Had to get my daughters ready and off to school.
BUT, now that they are off and running, I do believe I'm heading for a nap. As I was telling LJ, I'm attempting to look sassy for a wedding tonight and need to at least look human! LOL

Just dropping a quick hello off before a day of work, work, work.
I wanted to add my two sense and say that no one has ever offended/upset me on here.
That being said, if I have said something/done something that has upset someone, it was never my intention.
I believe we all joke around especially towards the stupid that do "fly-by's" here on the blog.
Meh personally if you are going to say something rude against someone on here that is my friend well I will be rude back if needed. I don't worry about offending "those" people.

Hello everyone!! Hope you are all having an awesome day so far!!
Good Morning lovely ladies,
Just wanted to stop by real quick and let you all know that Em is finally home with me. Dinner was a success, she loved her surprise and we had a great time. We were able to catch up just like I wanted, it was a huge relief to see her let her guard down, and really confide in me. I have no doubt that she will pull through and become the woman we all know she can be. She will only be staying with me until next Wednesday. We have been able to get her a spot in a place that we had been hoping would accept her, (big shout out to the young dems of nyc for all their help). I' running on pure adrenaline, these past few days have been exhausting and have drained me emotionally and physically. I can't thank you guys enough for your kind words, they really mean a lot to me. But as I said before, Em is really the hero, she remains positive, strong and brave throughout all this. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and sending positive energy her way.
I'll try to check back later.

Wow...I guess I missed quite a lot last night. Monika with the hairy chest. Yea--glad to see Smitty take care of that one! Syd and some gold pants?? Ummm, oookay :)
Tracy--I hope you feel better today. I have found that Robitussin cold and cough Night time works wonders!!
Elaine--I don't really know how to say this and have it sound right. Your friend is very lucky to have you. Some people don't deal well with the ugly in life. It's not that they don't care...they just are not strong enough to do deal with it. So yes, your Em is a hero for not letting life beat her--for fighting and not giving up. BUT she may not have had the strength or the knowledge to do so without you. YOU have the strength to look at the bad and want to make it good. I know that is not easy so--I say you thank you for showing me some good in the world when I'm seeing a lot of bad.
Now, sorry for the long post--but I'm not done yet. I also want to add that I love Roseland. Since it is true confession time--if at any point I ever offend anyone (with a few notable exceptions *cough* Honey or MoniKa) feel free to let me know. It is never my intention. Rose has created a great positive place to be. And you ladies just make me smile :) Thank you!

Meant to post last night:
Rich Man's (should be Rich Woman's but whatever)
1 lg pkg of oreo cookies
1 stick butter
8 oz soften cream cheese
(2) 8 oz cool whip
1 cup powdered sugar
2 small pkgs. instant chocolate pudding
1. crumble oreos (save 6-8 for topping).
2. melt butter and mix with oreos cumbles
3. Press oreo mixture into bottom of a 9x13 pan to make crust (I put it in the freezer for 10 min or so just to hardened it up more)
4. Mix the cream cheese, 8 oz cool whip and powdered sugar together until smooth
5. Spread the mixture over the crust
6. Mix pudding as directed using 3/4 cup LESS milk.
7. Spread on top of cream cheese mixture.
8. Cover pudding layer with remaining 8 oz of cool whip.
9. Crumble remaining cookies on top.
10. Refrigerate at least 6-8 hours or overnight to set.
Okay that's my recipe to share. Not healthy mind you but oh so yummy.
OK so can someone help me with this? Why does someone post then delete over and over again?
