Incense and Peppermints

Good sense, innocence, cripplin' and kind.
Dead kings, many things I can't define.
Oh Cajun spice, sweats and blushers your mind.
Incense and peppermints, the color of thyme.

Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.

Incense and peppermints, meaningless nouns.
Turn on, tune in, turn your eyes around.
Look at yourself, look at yourself,
Yeah, yeah.
Look at yourself, look at yourself,
Yeah, yeah,
Yeah, yeah.

Tune-a by the cockeyed world in two.
Throw your pride to one side, It's the least you can do.
Beatniks and politics, nothing is new.
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view.

Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.

Good sense, innocence, crippled and kind.
Dead kings and many things I can't define.
Oh Cajun spice, sweats and blushers your mind.
Incense and peppermints, the color of thyme.

Who cares what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothing to lose.

Incense, peppermints, incense, peppermints.

All You Need is Love

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.

Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.

Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It's easy.

There's nothing you can make that can't be made.

No one you can save that can't be saved.

Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time - It's easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,

All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.

Nothing you can see that isn't shown.

Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.

All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.

Let's call it a tallywhacker.

A pulsating, throbbing, tallywhacker.

Melinda said...

My first romance novel was when I was 13 or 14 and it was a Johanna Lindsey one....

Cate said...

Can an author not print the word penis and/or vagina and not be censored for it?

Just wondering?

Kami said...

Huge, and engorged Tallywhacker!!

*I*Believe* said...

Nite Olivia!

When the NW Game was on, I always thought the ladies were so pretty with the flippy hairdos from the late 70's...kinda like Marlo Thomas on That Girl's hair...back then I always wanted hair like that.

Kami said...

Melinda which Johanna Lindsey book did you read, I have ALL of her books I love her

gwen said...

Suebee

yes sword or dagger it is then the partner of the sword is a sheath buried to the hilt.

Mary said...

I think something might be missing in Stephenie's sexual interludes because she really got the sexual tension down in the books. The rest of the writing was kind of crap but she did get that.

SueBee said...

a pulsing, throbbing, turgid tally whacker!

Notice the word "turgid" always has to get thrown in somewhere?

Kami said...

Oh crap how did we forget Turgid, usually describing the nipples.

Melinda said...

Cate!! Good question...not sure...I just think they like the more descriptive ways to call things...makes it more titillating...

DreamerKind said...

Oh, you Kids!

Now I'm going to have to copy all of the descriptive "love" phrases you all mentioned into a document, well just because.

I am also a romance novel fan, from the 1960's on. Those words were used over and over and I think that they are much more exciting to read than the actual slang of today. Oh, manroot, yes, manroot.

Mary said...

I think the first romance novel I ever read was "the flame and the flower" by Kathleen somebody. I think that one had the manroot.

Anonymous said...

Cate!!!

You've landed smack dab in the middle of a romance novel, I think...

we've skipped to the good parts.
:)

Melinda said...

Kami- I honestly have no idea what it was called...this was more than 15 yrs ago. I do like her books.

Kami said...

the first one I read was "Caroline" by Cynthia Wright, it was actually pretty good despite the sex...oh and do you all remember back then when the men were all 32 and the "women" were 16 in those books?

Kay said...

Penny! Ashes in the Wind was my first - same author - Kathleen Woodiwiss

DreamerKind said...

Woodiwiss

Kami said...

Melinda the first Johanna Lindsey book I read was "Love Only Once" the first in the Mallory series...I still love that book

Mary said...

Kami,

Honestly, I haven't read that many to compare. I was a bit of a book nerd before I got married and read Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Henry Miller. Then when I got married I turned to romance novels. I think I regressed.

DreamerKind said...

Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, Julia London, Clare Darcy, Johanna Lindsey, George Eliot, The Brontes, Elizabeth Gaskell....

gwen said...

Woodiwiss- why do i have a perverted thoughts on that?

Cate said...

Don't get me wrong, I think the adjectives they come up with are a hoot.

Just seems engrained from childhood to give sexual parts other names. We still call a hand a hand, but most parents don't call a penis a penis or a vagina a vagina.

One of those things that makes you go hmmm.

Hi all sorry to intrude. Although you are right Tracy. I landed at the good part :)

Mary said...

Kay,

That one does sound familiar. I did read most of her stuff. Must have liked the manroot description.

SueBee said...

Good part is usually right in the middle.

Kami said...

Hi Cate

PL I read romance novels before I got married and after then I got bored with the "Manhoods throbbing, pulsating, engorged" and started reading other things, mystery, biographys, etc...still like a romance novel every once in a while, it's a fun read

Kami said...

SueBee yep usually right in the Middle (and yes my mind is in the gutter cause I want to say "unless it's Gene Simmons")

Melinda said...

I love the titles of romance novels as well:

Ecstasy in Darkness

Passions of a Wicked Earl

Taken by Midnight

Sinful in Satin

Entice me at Twilight

just to name a few...

Mary said...

Kami,

Don't get me wrong, I read them for awhile but you do get bored with them after a bit. As you get older you kind of skim over the parts that you reread 5 times when you were young.

Caroline said...

There's usually always an additional "good part" at the end...that's how you know that they lived happily ever after.

Kami said...

PL yep, I agree I got bored with them too, especially the "He gently stroked her breasts and slowly worked his way down...blah blah blah" Plus, I kept waiting for him to be normal...you know leave the seat up, snore, scratch...burp something normal...

Melinda said...

Let talk about Danielle Steele who has the same story line just changes the names...and her "sex" scenes always cracked me up....

Kami said...

LEIGH I THINK I HEAR YOU SHOUTING

WHO DAT!!! WHO DAT!! WHO DAT!!

Anonymous said...

I think the book covers are hilarious. Dude.. seriously.. if I ever saw a guy who looked like that walking down the street.. hair all pretty and shiny.. shirt unbuttoned down to his navel.. tight pants.. I'd run in the other direction. That is, of course, if my exceptionally poofy skirt and tightly laced bodice wouldn't prohibit me from doing so.

Kami said...

and in every book she has the reformed "Gay guy" that ends up with a woman...which is beyond stupid.

Mary said...

Kami,

They totally set your own romance up for failure. He's always the strongest, protective, most handsome, chiseled man alive.

Oh dear, I've just described Edward.

Kami said...

Tracy don't forget your Ample, perky boobage falling out of your poofy blouse as your long hair blows in the wind and showcases your perfect make up!

PL Ahhh but Edward isn't Human, so....he can be all those things.

Mary said...

Mel,

You are so right on Danielle Steele. I stopped reading her about 10 books ago. There's always tragedy at the beginning. the wrong guy in the middle, and then happy ever after at the end.

Kami said...

Caroline said...

Cate- PS w00t! w00t!

Penny Lane- How can anyone not like hugs and genitalia? I'm pretty sure that Rodgers and Hammerstein would have included them in a verse of "My Favorite Things" if they could have found words that rhymed. Genitalia would probably have interrupted the flow of the lyrics. ; )

Perhaps Love

Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm

It exists to give you comfort
It is there to keep you warm

And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home

Perhaps love is like a window
Perhaps an open door

It invites you to come closer
It wants to show you more

And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do
The memory of love will see you through

Oh, Love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel

For some a way of living
For some a way to feel

And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go

And some say love is everything
And some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of change

Like a fire when it's cold outside
Thunder when it rains

If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will be of you

And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go

And some say love is everything
Some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of change

Like a fire when it's cold outside
Or thunder when it rains

If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will be of you.

Peace Poem

There's a name for war and killing
there's a name for giving in

When you know another answer
for me the name is sin

But there's still time to turn around
and make all hatred cease

And give another name to living
and we could call it peace

And peace would be the road we walk
each step along the way

And peace would be the way we work
and peace the way we play

And in all we see that's different
and in all the things we know

Ppeace would be the way we look
and peace the way we grow

There's a name for separation
there's a name for first and last

When it's all for us or nothing
for me the name is past
but there's still time to turn around

And make all hatred cease
and give a name to all the future
and we could call it peace

And if peace is what we pray for
and peace is what we give

Then peace will be the way we are
and peace the way we live

Yes there still is the time to turn around
and make all hatred cease

And give another name to living
and we can call it peace

Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd ever dreamed before

I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men

And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the paper was all signed
And a million copies made

They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful pray'rs were prayed

And the people in the streets below
Were dancing 'round and 'round

While swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd never dreamed before

I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.

Let Us Begin
(What Are We Making Weapons For)

I am the son of a grassland farmer
Western Oklahoma nineteen forty three

I always felt grateful to live in the land of the free

I gave up my father to South Korea
The mind of my brother to Vietnam

Now there's a banker who says I must give up my land

There are four generations of blood in this topsoil
Four generations of love on this farm

Before I give up I would gladly give up my right arm

What are we making weapons for?
Why keep on feeding the war machine?

We take it right out of the mouths of our babies
Take it away from the hands of the poor

Tell me, what are we making weapons for?

I had a son and my son was a soldier
He was so like my father, he was so much like me

To be a good comrade was the best that he dreamed he could be
He gave up his future to revolution

His life to a battle that just can't be won
For this is not living, to live at the point of a gun

I remember the nine hundred days of leningrad
The sound of the dying, the cut of the cold

I remember the moments I prayed I would never grow old

What are we making weapons for?
Why keep on feeding the war machine?

We take it right out of the mouths of our babies
Take it away from the hands of the poor

Tell me, what are we making weapons for?

For the first time in my life I feel like a prisoner

A slave to the ways of the powers that be

And i fear for my children, as I fear for the for the future I see

Tell me how can it be we're still fighting each other
What does it take for a people to learn

If our song is not sung as a chorus, we surely will burn

What are we making weapons for?
Why keep on feeding the war machine?

We take it right out of the mouths of our babies
Take it away from the hands of the poor

Tell me, what are we making weapons for?

Have we forgotten
All the lives that were given?

All the vows that were taken
Saying never again

Now for the first time
This could be the last time

If peace is our vision
Let us begin

Dk-

This song is for you, it's one of my favorites. It's written and performed by Regina Spektor.

The Call

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
Until it was a battle cry
I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye

You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
Until they're before your eyes
You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

Someone to Watch Over Me

There's a saying old says that love is blind
Still we're often told "seek and ye shall find"

So I'm going to seek a certain girl I've had in mind
Looking everywhere, haven't found her yet

She's the big affair I cannot forget
Only girl I ever think of will regret

I'd like to add her initial to my monogram
Tell me where's the shepherd for this lost lamb

There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that she turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me

I'm a little lamb who's lost in a wood
I know I could always be good
To one who'll watch over me

Although she may not the girl some men think of
As handsome to my heart
She carries the key

Won't you tell her please to put on some speed
Follow my lead, oh how I need

Someone to watch over me
Someone to watch over me

For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her

What a dream I had
dressed in organdy
clothed in crinoline
of smoky burgundy
softer than the rain

I wandered empty streets down
past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells
dripping down the alley ways
as I walked on

and when you ran to me
your cheeks flushed with the night
we walked on frosted fields
of juniper and lamplight
I held your hand

and when I awoke
and felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair
with my grateful tears
oh, I love you
oh, I love you

For Smitty, Wherever You Go - DK

The Way You Look Tonight

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,

I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,

There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...

And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.

Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ...
Just the way you look tonight.

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night

For Rose from DK:

Undecided

You say it's yes, and then it's no;
You say you'll stay, and then you go -

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

First you say you do, and then you don't,
And then you say you will, and then you won't;

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

Now you want to play, and then it's no,
And when you say you'll stay, that's when you go -

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

I've been sittin' on a fence, and it doesn't make much sense,
'Cause you keep me in suspense, and you know it.

You promise to return; when you don't I really burn,
Well, I guess I'll never learn, and I show it!

If you got a heart, and if you're kind,
Then don't keep us apart, make up your mind.

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

First you say you do, and then you don't, no, you don't,
And then you say you will, and then you won't, no you won't -

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

Now you want to play, and then it's no, then it's no,
And when you say you'll stay, that's when you go, when you go -

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

If you got a heart, and if you're kind,
Then don't keep us apart, make up your mind.

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

You say it's yes, and then it's no;
You say you'll stay, and then you go -

You're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

Hush, Little Baby

Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's going to buy you a mockingbird.

And if that mockingbird don't sing,
Mama's going to buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama's going to buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass gets broke,
Mama's going to buy you a billy goat.

And if that billy goat won't pull,
Mama's going to buy you a cart and bull.

And if that cart and bull turn over,
Mama's going to buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover won't bark,
Mama's going to buy you a horse and cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

MORNING CONTENT WARNING!(sorry for the shouty caps…but really pass if your compass is not slightly askew and/or you are in public w/o earphones.)

Phew…PSA complete…hopefully that satisfies the attorneys. hehe

Apparently, the subconscious of the helmet wearing cannot be subjected to the Roseland review of romance novels without going fucking Goofy :o

This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GkTu7JLLNk&feature=related
Was on loop in my head all night! A little disturbing…funny…but disturbing?

Tracy, the avi is for you. Feel free to confiscate :)

And in attempt to prove my conscious mind is not as askew as the subconscious, Caroline one of my favorite parodies to "My Favorite Things.”

BTW there are a couple parodies of a more “mature” nature for this song. Just more for the guys though ;)

Oh manic Monday here I come…

Oh Cate, I flove you, and both your minds :)

I also love Manic Mondays. I'm on the fast track to one myself. It took me a good 20 minutes to make a choice of what I wanted for breakfast.. and I'm still not 100% sure, but a choice was made.

I can't believe people expect me to function properly first thing in the morning!

And I'm cold! What's with this damn weather? Nice during the day, but close to freezing at night? Make up your mind!

Yeah

Happy whatever day this is... is it November already? Hmm.. yeah.. Happy first day of November.

Cate - Thanks for the warning! I 'll wait until I get home to listen to those.

Tracy - I'm glad I'm not the only one having a Manic MOnday, unfortunately it looks set to continue for the rest of the week!! lol

Such a fun song.

Only got to listen to a few of the gorgeous tunes and read some of the beautiful lyrics from last night and early morning. DK, our resident DJ Fairy Godmother, you out did yourself. The John Denver/Placido Domingo "Perhaps Love" is an amazing song performed by two celestial voices. Plus, more John Denver, Simon and Garfunkel, and Roy Orbison, ........will have to listen some more after work today. Such beautiful selections. Thanks again DK. Plus the ones for Smitty, Gruff, and Syd, ...hope they see them.
Happy Día de los inocentes ( to remember all the sweet children - angelitos). Tomorrow will be Día de los muertos, to remember all the dearly departed (adults).
Hugs to all. Life is good.

Good Morning Roseland, well the Hubby has made it safely back to Oklahoma, two more weeks and then he's HOME and back behind that desk at Corporate Headquarters for a while, thank God. But until then....you ladies will have to put up with me.

Leigh, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time at the game last night, I did see a few of the costumes on t.v. the ones they could show and I kept wondering what in the hell these people were thinking...I mean even for NOLA @ Halloween those costumes were weird. Now I have to say "who dat" said it quietly cause I don't want to wake you.

Ok I'm going to go watch the "View" as I wait on the people to come and winterize my sprinkler system...oh boy what fun, as soon as I'm through with that, if my heart can stand anymore excitement I'll be back and ready to HUG a troll should one need hugging.

Hugs and kisses Troll Girl...XOXOXOXOXO.. ~.Q

Hi all!

Just a forewarning. It seems the BS rumors are starting and the hyenas are all happy today! Of course its because Kristen was spotted coming back from LA and No Rob was insight, then he was seen at some Restaurant over the weekend with out her. So be prepared for some new rumors at large! between the haters and rag mags, Cause ya know these two cant be separated for a day or two without some tragedy a foot!

Ok, even though I said I wouldn't post this, I had to share. When they got to the hospital, my sister realized they had forgotten Tay's outfit, so...Tay's Older sister shared part of her gypsy outfit and several other people chipped in items and got this

Kami said...

30, My sister didn't say if she had a good time, but I'm pretty sure she did. She got to spend the night with her older sister and brother...her sister is 15 a 10th grader, very grown up (wink wink) and at that age where it's lame to spend time with younger siblings, so the fact that she went trick or treating with her baby brother AND sister was a HUGE event and I'm sure her little sister loved every minute of it!! Add on top of that the fact that they dressed her older brother up as a gypsy and made him go out in public like that and I'm 100% positive that a good time was had by all..but him...lol

Good afternoon citizens of Roseland,

Are we all ready to spread the love again to anyone who needs it?

PL

Kami said...

Good afternoon PL and yes...i've got my pretty new Avi---->

and I'm ready to spread sunshine, roses, and rainbows to all who need them...

Mary said...

Kami,

You have to admit, it worked pretty well last night. Of course, maybe throwing in a lot of references to *quietly*, unmentionables, might have helped too.

Its daytime, we must be PG here.

angelica1 said...

Hi PL! I actually think that's a really good idea. I have hearts, puppies and rainbows at the ready for anyone who needs them :)

Kami said...

PL yes...it did seem to work if in no other way than it kept my blood pressure down, and you're right about the uh...unmentionables I guess we'll have to call them "Pee Pees" and "Wee Wees" which oddly enough fits her mentality...oops...lost the love for a second Troll Girl...sorry.

Mary said...

Kami,

Have they come to do the blow job on the sprinkler system yet?

Kami said...

Hi Angelica, I'm ready to spread the love too...I've even memorized the Barney Song: I Love you

Which in makes me want to put a gun to my temple...but if it helps a lost troll...then it's worth it.

Kami said...

LOL PL no blow job for the sprinkler as of yet, me and my sprinkler system are waiting excitedly for them to arrive.

Mary said...

Hi Angelica,

Can I shorten that to Angel?

Yes, love is in the air, because all you need is love, so that love makes the world go 'round.

Kami,

I'm waiting for a tree guy, but not for the same kind of service.

Are we still sharing the love today?

Is Kami's sprinkler system getting a blow job?! I'm sure it will be much more cooperative and work better after...

Hi Penny! Kami! 30! (I keep trying to make you 29 again, by the way) Angelica! and everybody else!

Kami said...

Tracy LOL...so funny. Yeah this guy called me and said "I'm coming today to blow your sprinkler system" So I called my hubby to find out why (being from Texas we don't do this to our sprinklers) and he told me it was for the winter. Who Knew your sprinkler needed a blow job before winter?

angelica1 said...

PL, you may shorten it to anything you like :)

Kami - After catching up with the genitalia convo this morning, I sent my hubby a text asking how his "pulsating love truncheon" was,he rang me up to see if I'd been drinking..at 7am! lol

Anonymous said...

Okay.. so I have this mental picture of this guy, kneeling on the ground, actually physically blowing into one of the sprinkler pipes.

Wait.. why do people call it a blow job when there's not really any blowing involved?

Kami said...

LOL Angelica...DO you mind if we shorten your name to Angel? My husband was reading what all I wrote last night and told me "You all have way too much time on your hands" so needless to say he slept on the couch..just kidding bout the couch thing

Kami said...

Tracy I love the way you think because I have that exact image in my mind, a group of guys, cause he's bringing 3 on their knees all blowing into my sprinklers

And I agree with you why is it called that when blowing isn't involved?

Mary said...

Tracy,

They are literally getting blown out with an air compressor. Probably not as gratifying as what you're thinking.

Kami,

We finally purchased an air compressor to do our own blow jobs. So now no waiting for that service to be performed.

Mary said...

For anyone just tuning in:

Underground sprinkling systems have to have the water blown out of the lines before winter so that the lines don't freeze up and break.

We are not perving over sprinkler systems.

End of PSA

angelica1 said...

Kami - You have no idea the mental picture that "3 men blowing into your sprinklers" conjures up...and my colleagues are clearly wondering what's so hilarious about this "powerpoint presentation" I'm writing!!

angelica1 said...

It's probably for the best they use a compressor.. The thought of 4 guys on their knees deep throating sprinkler pipes might be too much for me to process right now. I'm still recovering from last night's conversation..

SueBee said...

Hi all!

Okay, useless bit of trivia--

The phrase "blow job" is derived from it's former title "below job."

You were getting it down "below."

Oh yeah, where's my prize!?

Kami said...

LOL Angelica, just tell them you're laughing at a pervy Texan.

PL I'm glad you explained that, because even though I knew they wouldn't be "Blowing" the sprinkler system, I wasn't exactly sure what they would be doing. The weather up here in winter is a HUGE change for me. And while we have cold snaps in winter in Texas that are really really cold, it never stays that way for long so no need to have our system winterized down there..ok that even sounds pervy

Kami said...

SueBee yay!!! ok your prize is...hmmm well let me think on it a while.

hello btw

Mary said...

SueBee,

Then it does apply to sprinklers because they are underground or below.

Tracy,

You got me back for last night with the deep throating comment. I'm now cleaning coffee off of my laptop.

Kami said...

Yeah and I'm wiping up coke from my computer screen

I give up.. My mind's not getting out of the gutter anytime today...
