They were good song lyrics, and all relative hits for the groups that sang them, but were used on Roseland to confuse, diffuse, and contuse-sad that is.
The Beatles song "Run For Your Life" I remember from when it came out.
Unbelievable as it is now, we young women back then, agreed with the sentiment that cheating women should be punished, and it reflected the male ego mindset of that day, also. So, mixed blame would see to apply.
Some countries in our world today, follow those guidelines to even more extremes.

Rather than a dirty little secret, I like to think of Roseland as my little guilty pleasure. I must include the Twi books and films and of course Rob and Kristen.
My other guilty pleasures? I love to read, movies, auctions, art & museums, music, walks, and traveling. Oh....and definitely dark, dark chocolate, nuts, avocados and Stacey's multi grain pita chips.
Those sloppy joes sure sound great. I haven't had one in years and years. Used to make them all the time. Liked to put lots of sauteed onion, green pepper, mushrooms, and chunks of tomato in the mix. Now I avoid red meat and stick with chicken and fish two to three times a week and stay veggie and tofu the rest.
I brought a pitcher of Sangria that y'all can pass around. Salud, dinero y amor y'all !

Yes, yes, PL.
EMU - BA class of 73, MA class of 77. Drove back and forth to Ypsi for 8 years. Last 4 while I was working full time. Love Petosky. Two different dear friends have beautiful Victorian cottages in Bayview. Awesome place. Love the Gaslight downtown area. Spoon Foods - yum. There is the cutest bookstore downtown. Also love Harbor Springs. Best white fish dinners ever. This time of year holds so many fond memories for me of the gorgeous color everywhere. Spent the first 30 years of my life up there in that lovely state. This summer, stayed with friends in Canton and also Milford. The economic situation there is so very sad. Fortunately, my dearest friends are retired and are in a good position. My other friends are all still employed and doing well.

Sadly, the economy in most of MI is bad. It's not just the auto industry but trickling down to everything.
What never ceases to surprise tho is whenever we go out to eat, there is always a wait especially on the weekend. If the economy is so bad, how are all these people eating out? I don't get it. Same with the movies. Opening weekend for big films are always packed.

Gwen, I work with a darling young girl who is Philippino. She told me the other day about her recent engagement party and how the guests all brought gifts of food to her mother and her mother-in-law-to-be gave her a very special gift of jewelry. She also went on about several other interesting traditional customs followed during an engagement party. It was wonderful to see that even though the family has lived here for a very long time, they were keeping traditions alive.

@oliva- yes filipinos still hang on w/ traditions, we are a close knit family, always family first. Some of these traditions are fun and some i think are exagerated. I guess it comes down w/ history.

FROM GWEN-FILIPINES FOR DK
Adobo recipe
1/2 kilo pork cut in cubes + 1/2 kilo chicken, cut
into pieces or
choice of either 1 kilo of pork or 1 kilo of chicken
1 head garlic, minced
1/2 yellow onion, diced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup vinegar
2 cups of water
1 teaspoon paprika
5 laurel leaves (bay leaves)
4 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons water
Adobo Cooking Instructions:
In a big sauce pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of
oil then sauté the minced garlic and onions.
Add the pork and chicken to the pan. Add 2 cups
of water, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, vinegar, paprika
and the bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Cover and
simmer for 30 minutes or when meat is tender.
Remove the pork and chicken from the sauce pan
and on another pan, heat cooking oil and brown
the pork and chicken for a few minutes.
Mix the browned pork and chicken back to the
sauce and add cornstarch dissolved in water to
thicken.
Add salt and/or pepper if desired
Bring to a boil then simmer for an additional 5
minutes.
Serve hot with the adobo gravy and rice.
Adobo Cooking Tips:
You have the option to add crushed ginger to the
onions and garlic when sautéing. Ginger adds a
unique flavor to your pork/chicken adobo.

DK heres it is. I dont know if graham crackers are available in your area but any chocolate baked crackers would do. And the manggoes should be ripe and sweet.
Manggo supreme
Ingredients:
1 kilo Mango, peeled, thinly
sliced
1 can condense milk
1 pack graham crackers
2 packs All-Purpose Cream
How to prepare.
1. Beat condensed milk and
all-purpose cream
2. In square bowl, pile graham
crackers, put mixture, sliced
mango. Repeat the piling until
the desired thickness.
3. Chill.

Filipino Leche Flan Recipe
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Estimated cooking time: 1 hour
Leche Flan Ingredients:
1 can (390g) evaporated milk
1 can (390g) condensed milk
10 egg yolks
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or lemon essence
For the caramel:
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
Cooking Instructions:
In a saucepan, mix the sugar & water. Bring to a
boil for a few minutes until the sugar caramelize.
Pour the caramelized sugar into aluminum
moulds - you can use any shape: oval, round or
square. Spread the caramel on the bottom of the
moulds.
Mix well the evaporated milk, condensed milk,
egg yolks and vanilla by hand or blender.
Gently pour the mixture on top of the caramel on
the aluminum moulds. Fill the moulds to about 1
to 1 1/4 inch thick.
Cover moulds individually with aluminum foil.
Steam for about 20 minutes (the traditional way
to make Leche Flan is by open-air steaming on
either an open cooking fire or stove top) OR
Bake for about 45 minutes. Before baking the
Leche Flan, place the moulds on a larger baking
pan half filled with very hot water. Pre-heat oven
to about 370 degrees before baking.
Let cool then refrigerate.
To serve: run a thin knife around the edges of the
mould to loosen the Leche Flan. Place a platter on
top of the mould and quickly turn upside down
to position the golden brown caramel on top.
Cooking Tips:
You can tell when the Leche Flan is cooked by
inserting a knife -if it comes out clean, it is
cooked.
Oh, thank you so much DK and Gwen. These look wonderful. I love flan and mango too. What is all purpose cream? Is it just regular dairy cream that can be used for coffee? And I can just double the chicken for the adobo recipe. Yummmmmm.
@olivia-i think that would be heavy cream in your country. It is only called all purpose here coz the fat content is toned down. I usually use Nestle cream.
